A frustrated Archer...

Hi all,

Loving Skyrim but I have a niggle...it's not major but when this happens it = reload.

Here's my story, one of many very similar tales...

There I am, sneaking my way through yet another underground dungeon, bow at the ready. Creeping my way along a corridor I make note of the elaborate statues lining it. They are shaped sort of like a small "c" over a larger "C" very roughly speaking.

Sneaking around one particular statue there's a Drauger waiting...lining up very carefully I aim my bow between the lower "C" getting a perfect bead on the target. I loose my arrow...what? The arrow just bounced back at me...drauger is alerted..argh! Minor scuffle ensues...win! Nice. Note to self: must take more care with my aiming.

A little while later, yet another drauger lurking behind yet another "double c" statue. Once more I take careful aim, getting the perfect bead on the target..loose! What? Arrow just bounced back again! Did I aim wrong, did I hit the statue? No, I know I lined up perfectly. Reload. Try again, move out further from the statue this time...perfect line of sight once again, perfect bead on the target - even if my arrow was 3 feet wide. Loose! Bounce! WTF? Again?

Ok, so I've been getting this a lot. The problem is that while many statues, pillars and other items in the game look fairly ornate, the hit box associated with them is often just a simple rectangle. This means that a lot of the time you may think (and really, you have) perfect line of sight on a target only to have your arrow still "hit" the object, breaking stealth, alerting the enemy and ruining your approach.

I expect there's nothing that will ever be done about this, after all it's going to likely affect hundreds of object, but does it bug you too?

Still loving the game, just another little work-around I have to perform. Ah well lol.

Scoob.

Yea that frustrated me too with my archer, especially around walls when I try to shoot someone around the corner the hitbox goes way too far from the wall.
