Frustrating Glitch

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 4:46 am

When I tried to do the quest "I Put A Spell on You", the last part where you have to diffuse the bomb on the monorail, I diffuse the bomb and then it tells me to go back to colonel Hsu. When I do go back to him there is no speech option related to the quest. I tried going through all his speech options, reloading the save, and even diffusing the bomb in a diffrent way, none of witch worked.
I really dont know what to do, maybe I'm doing something wrong I don't know. Could someone please help me, it would be much appreciated.

Did you choose the "'You won't have to worry about intelligence leaks" dialogue option at some point? Sometimes that may cause this for some people. If so, you'll have to reload and do it again without picking that option. For myself, I find if you do things in the below order, it works every time:

Spoiler

--listen to Curtis & if you don't have the skill to defuse w/out the codes, kill Curtis (otherwise you can skip killing him if you want)
--run and defuse the bomb (do NOT talk to Hsu first & save game before you enter the monorail area in case you don't make it...)
--talk to Hsu

First, we're in the general discussion forum here, people. this is clearly over the line and I can't post until this is moved.

Okay, now we can talk :whisper:

Take the Lady's advice. This quest is easily glitched.

But before you do that. Did you scroll all the way down in Col Hsu's dialog? Sometimes these options can get buried. Does your quest-log still say 'talk to Col. Hsu'?

I didn't know there was any more than one way to diffuse the bomb. What do you mean?

Explosives check or Repair check, iirc. Same dialogue, just two choices of which skill to use to complete the same task.

Not nearly as frustrating as the Spy not even showing up at the tower block like I have...

Oh. I get it. Yes, that would qualify as two ways.

I found that part tricky myself. You must be hidden or he will not approach the tower. Wait inside the terminal with a vantage point looking toward his office and the rear doors out onto the flight line. Do not approach him, or follow him out the door—he will be waiting. I have found the following to work for me:

When he exits the door out onto the flight line, run upstairs onto the concourse and then down into the Quartermaster's shack. Then use his door out onto the flight line.

The captain will already be in the tower. Sneak in and wait at the base of the stairs for him to finish his radio call. Then confront him.

I find if you don't go to the tower until some time after the stated hour, he'll already be in there when I enter. I don't try to 'see' him go in.

I usually just position myself over by the crates, and hide behind them until around midnight or so, then peak around the corner in stealth mode until I see him go in. Then run in and eavesdrop.
