Frustrating solo dungeons

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 10:55 am

Gutsripper and Doshia are way too frustrating for their levels. I can't seem to defeat either. If I could get help, it would probably be less frustrating, but you have to solo them.

Really? Solo? What is the point of MULTIPLAYER, if you're going to force us to solo? If I wanted to do solo Elder Scrolls, I'd play Skyrim.

Doshia was not too bad once I figured out the trick (and there is a trick)

Gutsripper was hard so I just came back a few levels later to finish that one (I think this one is easier for a ranged character)

How about beating the leaders of the resistance? 3 on one is a *bit* much at level 8-10.

Gutstripper means getting out of his cone and whacking him after he does it.

Doshia is a PITA - the key to her is to run INTO the little floatng balls since they heal you.

Killing off the leaders - No fricking clue. Just death and broken gear.

protip, any class can easily beat most bosses by simply blocking all normal attacks and dodging the heavy attacks.

if a mob has a red area ability that shows like a cone or aoe, then its easily dodgable, and the regular attacks dont do much damage, and are usually only 2-3 of them between the next big hit. just "play well" and pay attention to the boss and dont assume that block will stop heavy attacks

The 3 leaders I recommend using a long stun on the caster or the melee to knock them out quick and then focus on the other. After the 2 are dead heal up and go after the third.

Sneaking is your friend especially if you have a ranged weapon or skill to pull with.

In addition you do not have to fight where the boss mobs appear. You can use walls and other items to LoS range mobs.

ESO isn't your traditional run up and faceroll the keyboard MMO. You have to use tactics on most boss mobs. Docia being a PITA till you learn the trick.

the 3 leaders was difficult and definitely took more brain power then the leroy method.

Concur. Don't like being forced into single-player instancing while questing in a group.

I solo-d the bear thing by simply exploiting the innate weakness of his power attacks, which have a sort of a cast time, and also cc-ing him, in my case, javelin from templar, morphed to put him longer on the ground.

Along with ransack and low lash i could sustain the little amount of damage he did through healing, regen while he was doing power attacks.

Literally, you can-t stay in the same spot fighting these strong mobs, and also fighters guild boss mobs kinnda require you to use their skill tree.

Basically we have had it easy in MMOs for years and even single player games have become easy. Skyrim on legendary was like easy peazy mode in games of 10 or 20 years ago. Try beating manic miner of the spectrum era and you will see hard.

If people cannot work out the simple tactics for those fight then I think we truly are knackered. Challenge is good. It forces you to think, get better and when you win, you feel that you have really achieved something. Can't beat that feeling!

ESO isn't a single-player game. If I want a single-player game, I've got an impressive library from which to pull.

People need to learn to double tap their direction keys. Once this arcane skill has been mastered, Gutsripper is no more threatening than a puppy.

Doshia requires a bit of observation. I admit, my first two attempts I went in hard and went down hard. Then I spotted the trick and facepalmed myself even harder!

Solo quests like this serve a purpose in an MMO. They teach you basic awareness and survival skills that will prove invaluable when you get in veteran group instances. Any player who hasn't learned basic dodging and situational awareness and expects the rest of his group to pull them though the instance while racking up death after death after death is going to find themselves kicked from a lot of groups.

Now if I could just get that double tap dodge to work consistently

Both Gutripper and Doshia can be done in 1 try with no dieing. I did it as 1 level higher Sorcerer, wearing cloth armor 2-4 levels below my level. Used 3-5 healing potions.

It was challenging, yes but it is also doable. Don't stand when Gutripper charges, try to use roots, stuns if you have any, try to avoid him by getting on/off the platform. Go behind pillars. Basically kite him.

Same with Doshia, but also have to kill the healing orbs she gets. I didn't even know those can heal me too. I just killed them before they reached her.

Both these mini bosses are good practice for how you need to play later on in group dungeons. Standing toe-to toe with mobs doesn't work well in the game.

The 3 resistance bosses - are those the Veiled Keep ones? I didn't do that one alone, I had a friend with me and we killed them easy enough. First 2 attacked an then the third after the 2 were dead. Was very easy with 2 players, can't speak about solo difficulty.

I was an even level Templar with Gutsripper on my first encounter. I almost died several times, but I managed to run away and reset the fight. It was frustrating at first, but I am glad I stuck with it, because this fight actually taught me quite a lot about the combat system and how to block, interrupt, and dodge attacks. It was very satisfying when I finally defeated it. I hope to see more encounters like this.

IMO, Gutsripper was one of the easier ones as a sorceror. I think I was either even level with him or one level lower, but the trick was to just kite the boss back and forth between platforms while doing dmg'd knockdowns. Worked pretty well actually.
