Frustration!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:00 am

Do you ever get the feeling that Bethesda are just holding out on us?
I mean, being told 'yes, we're working on something big & could show it now, but we dont want to' is a bit cruel.

it's like holding a juicy & awesome steak inches away from the snout of a cute & loyal & adoring puppy (who's been blindfolded by the way) & just taunting it for no reason other than you're neighbour's having a BBQ (thats a metaphore for the release of New Vegas, btw)

I mean, honestly, i've been loving TES since Daggerfall & Oblivion was one of my most anticipated games ever, & it didnt disappoint... but that was four years ago...

I know we (the people who frequent this board) are mostly to blame ourselves. With every trade show that comes, we say to ourselves 'this is it! TESV is gonna be announced at E3 / GamesCom / QuakeCon etc' then only to have the date pass & we feel disappointed & frustrated...

theres been somewhere like 14400 posts in the speculation threads to date, and the total amassed info we have on TESV is............. abosolutely nothing.

Aside from my frustration-induced raning, i put it to you, & ask the question :

On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being not at all & 10 being abosolutly raging) how impatient are you getting for a simple announcement regarding The Elder Scrolls V?

I was at 10 a while back, but now I'm confident we'll get an announcement within a couple months. I'm holding steady at a 7.5.

1. Plus, I haven't really found the fanpuppy to be particularly cute, loyal, OR adoring. Nor is "nothing" really the equivalent of a taunting steak. Because it's nothing.

10. And I agree with the metaphor because I'm cute and I like steak.

Awkwardness aside, yes. I wish they'd tell us but at the same time being able to see a lot when they announce it will be a treat.

I understand where Bethesda is coming from, honestly. They've only been working on the game we presume to be TES V for 2 of the 4 1/2 years we've been waiting since Oblivion, and they want to make absolutely sure what they show will blow us away. Todd said back in August that if he was forced to show it he would be proud to, so really an announcement shouldn't be too far off. Because of this, while I am a 10 in the sense that I'm dying for an announcement, I'm confident that it will be announced relatively soon so I'm not foaming at the mouth for an announcement as much as I could be.

By 'nothing' I meant we have no solid info at all.
& saying a few months back that (paraphrasing) 'we have something big, but were not telling what it is, so there :P ' is a bit of a steak-like tease...

But I suppose I can kill a bit of time at the neighbors BBQ til they run outta punch...

...I just realized I'm a bit metaphor-friendly today.

Nope. The BBQ next door is under cooked. I want the steak.

I wish I was at a 6 or something - so I wouldn't excite myself too much or watch all the teaser videos when they are released, but no, I am at a steady 9.5 - I really am dying for an announcement. They're teasing us so greatly!

7.

I want an announcement bad, but I'm not freaking out about it anymore. I've learned through waiting for tons of games that half of the torture you make yourself. If you're patient and don't dwell on it, the wait isn't that bad.

6 or 7. There was a time when I felt more strongly about this question, but I've had to go on to other games (while still returning to "Oblivion" sometimes). I enjoyed the novel, but it was short and Bethesda hasn't made an announcement about the second novel (actually second half of the novel) yet either.

5-6. I have come to the realization that the game will come, one way or another, lurking these forums only gets me more frustrated than I have to be.

5-6 , I have to just wait it out, wishing for TESV won't do a thing.

2 to 3 on days where I get a particular craving for new ES content, 1 elsewise.

I'm not frustrated or raging, I'm just waiting and anticipating. I yearn for more info, but I have no doubt it will come when it will come and, barring leaks, not before they are ready. Getting my knickers in a twist wouldn't help a single thing.

My current bet is that we'll get an announcement or at least a tease by year's end. But if we don't I won't be apoplectic. I'm drowning in games I want to play these days anyways, given what free time I have -- and I haven't even bought FNV yet (I plan to save it for patches, mods, and some game-dry month in the early new year, no need to rush in now).

There is no need for yet another TES V topic. Want to talk about the game and when it is coming, please use the TES V Speculation thread. Thanks.
