Yes Jatriix, that must be it.
One Gunner, how about we play a little game, you take a screenshot of a texture in Crysis 2, and I (and hopefully others) will respond with similar examples from Crysis or Warhead. Whoever comes up with the highest number of better looking images wins. Must be texture, and not lighting based images.
Thank god someone on this forum with some logic! People ignore the amazing lighting and shadows being cast all over the place, crazy detail all over, etc and find like a mailbox without a bump-map and start screaming CONSOLE PORT!
Yeah, but this thread is about textures silly goose. There are other threads YOU ignored when those same people that understandably criticized the textures (including myself) were quick to turn around and mention the impressive lighting and HDR effects.
Also, the bump mapped mailbox was the thing the guy that took the picture said was good, it was the street sign with appx. 17.3 pixels in it that made it look like a console port, because when your sitting 10 feet away from your screen, 17.3 pixels looks good.
Crysis 2 looks amazing! I dont want DX11.
Oh.
Are you sure? I mean, it makes things look better. The only 'not biggie' here is that they could have spent another few days implementing DX11. The game actually looked better 8 months ago in that Central Station trailer when the guy fights the pinger, maybe they had DX11 back then.
DX11 does not magically make a game good, artists and coders do. If we get it sure it will be nice, but its no biggie.
Right, unless they promise it to entice people to buy it, and then not hold true to their promise. Also, that's kinda like saying it's not the materials that makes art good, it's the artist, even when he's using crayon and finger paint to sculpt Michelangelo's David.
