Okay...don't get weird'd out by this...but I'm working on a Dovahkiin helmet and Pauldron/ shoulder piece. I thought about wearing it to the release...but, playing dress up is kinda...weird.
It'd be okay if it were Halloween, but its november... I'd just like someones thought on this. Know anyone who does that? Dress up for a midnight release?

Not sure about a video game, but I remember all the kiddies dressing up for the Harry Potter midnight showing.
I saw a guy dressed as Master Chief for the Halo Reach midnight release. he got a lot of cheers, and some photo requests :celebration: and go for the whole suit if you can. just because it'd make the experience more awesome
Someone dressed up for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 midnight release I went to, though I think it was an employee of the Gamestop I went to. Nothing wrong with dressing up at those things, plus you could always dress up as Dovahkiin for Halloween.
i dress up for movies and games all the time and its hilarious the comments you get when walking threw a mall dressed as an knight solder pirate ect ect i quite enjoy it so go for it
One thing I'd have to deal with is the attention. I hate it. I'd like to just stand in line, not pump everyone up(Step out of line, pictures taken, be all social.) Its a conundrum! Go as Dovahkiin, embarrass my brother? No one wants to stand next to some skinny kid in cardboard-ductape armor!
Its not even that good! If only I were taller...and had muscles...and a horse...and some swords...

Nah it's cool just don't cheese out with card board and tin foil. I recommend hitting up Home Depot and going to the Tool section for some genuine leather strapping( a couple leather tool belts) and a padded leather pauldron (leather knee pad).
Damn you know what, I'm totally going be a Dragon Born for Halloween this year.(hmmm, buck skin will look good)

These horns are the hardest part! Working with cardboard isnt great...and the ductape is TOO SHINY!
if some one make fun of you just pull out your $2000 dollar claymore you had custom made by one of the few old way masters and cleave his [censored] in half! :toughninja:
Mate, it's a midnight sale... guess what everyone is going to be thinking when you show up in your costume.
Hint: "Omfg nice nordic fur armor! He's totally a bigger fan than I am, I didn't even bring a costume!"
Or something like that. Moral of the story is that everyone else who is going to a midnight sale for a game is going to be as much of a fan of the game as you are.
As for me I won't be cosplaying, since chances are it's gonna be around a good minus 5°c on the 11th of November where I am at. Too cold.
ima have my home-made "death-stick" (a stick that a cut, sandpapered, dyed, polished, with ALOT of screws, nails, and staples in it.) and eat alot of meat and yell when i dragon shout and drink mah sparkling graqe juice (wine, i can't drink, *sadface*)

Precisly, just don't cheap out on the costume and it will be well received. Think "Epic" when your putting it together. Just ask me if you want some pointers for everyday objects you can substitute into your costume like the ones a gave in my previous post.

If you get the white duct tape, then it isn't so bad. My girlfriend and I dressed up as Team Rocket for Halloween last year, and we made her outfit almost entirely out of duct tape, and it worked like a charm. You just gotta be sure to layer it so that it's not too flimsy. Heck, you could even paint it if you still think it's too shiny.
