Fun with Alchemy - Your Recipes

Post » Wed Aug 07, 2013 3:53 pm

I'm having a little fun with Alchemy these days and found some recipes I like to make, and I'd like to see that of others as well. The more effects the potion has the better, but simple things can be good too.

Resist All Elements:

- Snowberries
- Hawk Beak
- Bone Meal/Dragon’s Tongue/Elves Ear/Fire Salt/Fly Amanita/Mudcrab Chitin

Fortify Two-Handed, Regen Stamina and Resist Fire

- Dragon’s Tongue
- Fly Amantia
- Bee/MoraTapinella/Scaly Pholiota

Fortify Heavy Armor and Block and Resist Frost

- Slaughterfish Scales
- Thistle Branch
- Bleeding Crown/Boar Tusk/Pearl/Tundra Cotton

I’m currently running a mage-alchemist and these are two of his specialties:

Fortify Destruction, Fortify Health, and Resist Shock (His anti-Thalmor Justicar potion)

- Glowing Mushroom

- Glow Dust

- Giant’s Toe

Fortify Magicka, Restore Magicka, and Regenerate Magicka. It's a nice shot in the arm for those big battles.

- Red Mountain Flower

- Jazbay Graqes

- Fire Salts or Moon Sugar

scathecraw + mora tapinella + jazbay graqes (or silverside perch) = ravage health as well as lingering health damage.

I'll post more when I get home and look through my notes but this recipe is a cornerstone for my thief (or should that be assassin?). The best part is, you can easily harvest 30 or so scathecraw from Solstheim without getting far from town and risking a fight with the baddies.

Put together some wheat and giants toe, and with a high enough speech you can sell it to an alchemist for around 200-300 gold.

(i forgot what the effects were)

If it is money you want, then Giant's Toe + Bear Claw + Hanging Moss is the way to go. Even with low speech you get 200-300 gold.

I just made this one- Jaran Root + Falmer Ear = 1929 damage. I had 3 or 4 maximum Fortify Alchemy Enchants.

I always use the restoration loop to create a handful of potions that do insane poison damage. You can get into the thousands with just imp stool and mora topinella.

I simply hate losing NPC's to unexpected dragons and shooting an arrow at them that kills in one hit is easier than reloading.

If you are looking to make the most and have HF DLC Salmon Roe, Histcarp and any regenerate magicka ingredient will make the most expensive potion.

I like to make just a plain paralysis poison with Canis Root and Swamp Fungal Pod.

If I make it near another alchemist they often express their opinion which is funny. Especially that guy downstairs in Riften. I forget the name of the place.

There's also Deathbell and River Betty for a plain Slow poison. I forget most of the other combinations I have that include ravage health, lingering health damage. I normally just start with the paralysis poison on a new character.

Hmmmmm, an Alchemist, now there's an idea. I've never used alchemy, seems to need perk investments that I could never be bothered with. But these brews are giving me a massive clue.

Dammage stamina and magika:
Blue butterfly wing
Spider egg
It's a pretty good poison for early levels.

Serious potions; Big gold!

Snowberries + Thistle Branch + Mudcrab Chitin

and

Glowing Mushroom + Blue Mountain Flower + Swamp Fungal Pod

(Note: You can grow five out of these six ingredients, yourself) :)
