Fun with random character generator!

On a lark, I went to the http://morrowind.inventivegamer.com/tools/chargen-random/and clicked.

Male Breton born under the sign of the Atronach. OK, so far so good.

Specializing in Combat. Ha! You zany random character generator, you.

With favored attributes of Personality and Agility. Yeah, this is kind of all over the place.

With major skills of the following:

Enchant

Conjuration

Block

Blunt Weapon

Marksman

Huh. That's... not bad.

And minor skills in:

Illusion

Mysticism

Destruction

Speechcraft

Unarmored

Well, that's something!

So I've got a ... witchhuntery sort of thing going on here. This is actually great - I've never played with Conjuration or Enchanting, and I'm familiar enough with Marksman that it's a good fallback for me. Block will be nice once I get a shield; for now I'm using a staff (or a Bound Mace).

So, great work, Random Character Generator! We'll see how viable this character is once I get a few more levels under my belt.

*Hmm, it appears the website I linked to is not responding. A temporary issue, hopefully?

Heh, Breton warriors were about all I ever played when I first began playing Morrowind. I never used the Atronach sign though. Your character should be extremely interesting to play.

This reminds me a bit of gpstr's great http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1115805-completely-random-character/ thread in the Oblivion forum. I've always been very intrigued with the idea of random charcters like this. I've never had the nerve to try it though.

Good luck with your Witchhuntery character!

Thanks!

I'm thinking this will be a great way to work with my propensity to re-start characters and get around to playing 'dead is dead' style.

My problem with DiD is usually that I spend enough time planning the character and picturing how cool he's going to be that I get too bummed out when he actually dies and just say 'eh, nevermind, reload!'

Using a totally random character, however, gives me a different feeling about it. When the character dies, I know I'll just roll up another one and see how far I get. The randomness prevents me from feeling too attached (at least initially - that will probably change), and also would force me to make some interesting RP choices, I think.

Thanks for the link, too! :)

I did a "special" random-recurring character for a while (in Oblivion, but the concept would apply in any game); her name was Echo, and she was played at a high difficulty setting, to make death more likely.

Each instance of Echo began with a completely randomly generated race/class/birthsign/etc. The character would then enter the world, and attempt to survive long enough to reach a chest that I had modded into an inconvenient (dangerous) location. Inside the chest was an object (weapon, armor, low-end enchanted jewelry) that was inspired by the previous incarnation's major skills. The number of objects in the chest would thus increase with each subsequent "life." I think I went through about eight Echos before I tired of the process. :)

Aye, my router got fried.

Please don't kill off your character before I replace the router (or get the site hosted somewhere).
