Function to get total effect magnitude of given effect type?

In Oblivion with OBSE there is a nice function GetTotalActiveEffectMagnitude that returns the sum of a particular active effect on a character, for example:

character.GetTotalActiveEffectMagnitude SHDG
returns the magnitude of shock/lightning damage over time on the given character/actor object. However, Skyrim appears to have no equivalent of this. (I spent at least an hour looking for one and haven't found it, not even in SKSE.)

tl;dr; Is there a Skyrim equivalent of GetTotalActiveEffectMagnitude in Oblivion with OBSE?

(sorry if I have been asking a lot of questions, I have much experience building mods for Oblivion but I'm just getting started with building a Skyrim mod)
