Functional ideas for new games from interplay

Post » Wed Apr 08, 2009 6:42 am

Well, there's a lot of people speaking of Fallout MMO and alot of old titles (Although, have nothing against them, hehe still best damn games on planet). Was thinking perhaps something original ideas to actually bring gamesas back to map. Considering gamesas being only damn company which haven't let me down probably ever (except on Baldur's Gate 3).

So ideas ideas... Perhaps I'll start..

Was wondering there's one old title I've been dying to see on market. License is probably dry out, but I am sure there's skill on gamesas to raise an decent serie even out of it (Although it was published by Atari originally, but don't see Atari having rights to it). Game is from Heliovisio originally called 'Hexplore' very own unique world and very ideal non-licensed rules system. Hell, most of been best RPG I've ever played considering I've played IWD, Baldur's Gates, Fallouts that's alot said.

Could be worth taking a look.

Here's another nice idea.. there's 8 books of Death Gate which all are damn amazing piece of work. Can't say same on original game which was produced by Virgin, but hell considering ANY todays decent 2D or 3D system on bottom of the books story (Actually Infinity engine with all it's crappy bugs does sound too bad on this one), plus some cheesy RPG style system.. 4-8 games series compine that with 'Death Gate - Universe' and online play on mazes, Voila we got a winner... (Lol, maybe..)

gamesas may have to wait a little but I would like to see them make another DnD game. Perhaps, another stab at an MMO that fixes the problems that DDO had.

I too would like to see gamesas using the DnD license again although I'm not sure that I would want them to launch an assault against an already super-saturated MMORPG market. I think there is a market for single player (or NWN-style multiplayer) CRPGs from folks who understand how to emphasize the RPG part of CRPG.

I'd like to see gamesas pick up something like Arcanum (especially now that Sierra is shutting down the Arcanum forums). I think there is a lot that can be done within that universe that will attract gamers like myself who appreciate the RPG aspects of computer games but don't want to deal with the headache/noise that comes with MMORPGs (scheduling, guild politics, shallow dialogue/storylines/quests).

Fallout 1 and 2 on Nintendo DS!! I would love to be able to bring Fallout in my pocket wherever I go!! gamesas always wanted a "console" hit, well, w/ the popularity of Bethsoft's abomination, they could take advantage of Fallout's new-found fame and the DS platform at the same time!!

Nah, don't bring DnD to this. Has absolutely nothing to do with DnD those two mentioned. That is why I added them as example. I can't see gamesas doing DnD, but mentioned games could be way better than whole DnD in sense that neither of suggested games are actually on even similar rules.

In a sense the first example which I see bettr one the Heliovions title actually is more of an 4 character puzzle solving where all characters has their abilities to functional as complete group yet having all special skills compined with incredible storyline. So that's even less like DnD RPG..

Just for mention I truly hate any kinda of consoles. I do not consider any consoles capable to even have an true multi-character RPG. So kinda skips my interest on Console titles. Even while BG Dark Alliance was really huge flop I have to although give gamesas an credit for trying that was near insane effort to try out, heh..

Hey I thought about a DS fallout remake as well, sounds like it would work fine with the whole stylus thing too. I don't own one but with Square remaking all my favorite Snes JRPGs I've been thinking about picking a DS up.

There might be a snag there though. gamesas retained the rights to sell the original fallouts, but I'm not so sure if they have the right to remake, update, or port them at all.

Some DS remakes would be awesome, or even tactics as well. That new chess game they're making (ACPO Chess) would be great on steam... Image

Are you referring to this series? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_Gate_Cycle

I read it about 15 years ago, and to this day no other novel/series has captured my attention like the Death Gate Cycle did. The game that followed in 1994 received some awards but I didn't enjoy it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Gate

I would agree, that these books are oozing with RPG and MMO possibilities, just read the wiki and you'll see!

I like that idea alot. Something to consider gamesas, as alot of people own DS's and PSP's right now, and could use a great RPG. Just keep the gore intact please. "What do I WANT? I don't really know. Most of the time I ignore my quest and walk into the homes of others, riffling through people's shelves..."

Would gamesas be allowed to release those titles on another platform considering Betheda owns the Fallout IP? Barring that, would all the content be allowed to remain with the controversy video games, unfortunately, generate these days? Some of the more obscene content might have to go. A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

what about a new mech type game, after all there's nothing out there in terms of mechs since mechwarrior has been shutdown, and we were left in teh cold, in a dark corner svcking on our thumbs, lol. Also DnD games are great, and fun and would be nice to see a return of the dark alliance series especially since the end of the second with the sun god and his sun barge.

Tribe 8 in the Dark Alliance style. For Downloadable service(WiiWare, PSN, Live, PC). With extra content purchasable as it comes. I can almost garuntee no one on this forum knows what the hell Tribe 8 is. If you do I'm not refering to the female band.

Tribe 8 is a postapocolytpic world where the fall of civilization was caused by a flood of spirits crossing from the other side. Think of something like Ghost Busters 1. As time goes by they go instaibly hungry of fleshy desires and proclaim themselves gods. They are then trapped to live in bodies of flesh like prisons. many go mad. The world falls into various ruins. You end up with this awesome mystical, horror, apocolyptic fantasy setting. Seems like you can't mix all of them together, but it works so darn well.

You have the Tribals who were lead to freedom by the Avatars of a God.
The Keepers who seeled them selves away and hold onto the world before Knowledge. Keepers :)
Squats, people just managing to survive.
Serfs, willing servents of the monsters.
the monsters of course. power beings that are more psycholigly horrific and powerful.
and so on.
monster contrstructs. this allows for plenty of freedom for more classic monster types. Werwolves, gargoyles.

It would be Fantasy, so swords, monsters, dungeons(world before ruins, like Fallout), with occasional guns. With the known backdrop of earth. it's just got that vibe too it.

I'm not sure, but I don't think gamesas owns the D&D liscences, so Tribe 8 couldn’t be made in the exact same way as Dark Alliance.

And I agree, infernis007. It’s been too long since I’ve had the taste of a PPC to the face. A massive thank you to EA for:

But
Beth always can fail so everything can happen. You can't forecast future cause it's mostly unpredictable. There is always possibility that gamesas will develop Fallout with all it's rights. the best movie in the world ;P http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=6BV4slil-HQ

Just looking at the success Bethesda has had, I doubt that is going to happen. Can always hope though.

I'd just like to see some more games with an emphasis on solid gameplay instead of graphics.

I've being playing The Last Remnant recently and everyone keeps complaining about the graphical problems. It's sickening. I'll admit the story isn't Square Enix's best, but the new battle system is pretty good, even with the flaws. A massive thank you to EA for:

I would love to see the Dark Alliance name reborn. BUT, please use Snowblind Studios to develop it. DA1 was a far more refined and better looking game then DA2. All though the game would not use D&D due to the whole rights issue, create your own world as Diablo did. Come up with a character build format that would allow the user to truly create unique characters as oblivion did, rather then the 5 or 6 predefined classes with set skills.
The DA games are still the best off line co-op games on the market, and there is nothing more for us to play. We have again started a DA1 game some 6 years after first trying it and it still hold up to anything out there. Co-op games are way too overlooked and there is a market of people who have spent hundreds of dollars each on them. We should be rewarded for our investment with new content to play.

A few ideas:

* A game set in the universe of (or very similar to - maybe "sixxed up" a little) the Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov.

For those unfamiliar, it's a more intellectual pre-Star Wars space opera. Similar to Fallout, you've got a distant future imagined from 50's/60's technology (ie. galactic warships powered by nuclear reactors). The "Darth Vader" character from one of the books is a psychic mutant (tough to be a general that knows what's going to happen.) Been a while since I've read the books, but I remember the original 3 as being pretty awesome (the sequels that followed many year later, not so much).

* A game based on the Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato story.

* A game based on Stephen King's Dark Tower novels. If that license is way out of gamesas's league (as I imagine it would be), how about an epic game with similar elements of fantasy, western, horror, sci-fi, and just a hint of the present day?

* A Shogun Warriors game. These were edgier pre-Transformer battle robots.
