Funniest glitch?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:47 pm

Like any Bethesda game Fallout 4 features the glitches that can be either extremely funny or a nightmare. Lucky I have not encountered the horrible kind (like the new Vegas save corruption bug) but I have seen some funny ones.

I have two top funny ones.

The first involves my sanctuary settlement. I discovered that whether through a glitch or intentional I can build prefab structures on top of houses. By doing this I basically created a massive fort on top of the main house in sanctuary (where the power suit station is). One day I came back and discovered that bhramin had takenover my town. There were around 5 pack bhramin walking around and two on top of the house. There was one more attempting (quite pathetically) to climb the stairs to my fort. So I had 8 pack Bhramin with their massive packs all over, it was very funny.

The second glitch involved a legendary mirelurk and a quest I won't spoil. I was up against many creatures and attempted to hide inside a small building with a window I could shoot out of. Somehow the behavior for the legend mirelurk changed and he began behaving like an NPC. First I noticed that the door to the room opened. (apparently mirelurks can open doors or this was a glitch).

The odd thing was the mirelurk didn't come inside. I glanced out the door and noticed a car probably 10 meters away. The mirelurk was hiding behind the car and peeking its head out of the corner like people do when they are shooting at you. It wasn't attacking, it would just hide then peek its head back up for a second like a creeper.

I decided to play and blew up the car. The mirelurk hauled ass away and I couldn't find it again, it was bizarre, totally NPC behavior.

Those are mine, what do you guys have as your funniest glitch?

I went to Sanctuary at night one time and found the settlers sleeping ten feet in the air behind the building with the crafting stations. Just floating there.

I did found a trader Bhramin stuck inside one of the rooms in the same house once. Never could find the actual trader, but the beast wasn't happy about being trapped in there. Couldn't interact with it though.

Bethesda's animation for Dogmeat when he's on a non-level surface would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Reminds me of Skyrim's horse physics. I think Bethesda needs to just leave four legged animals out of their games until they get a new game engine that can handle them.

Someone was coldly giving me orders on a serious mission and the whole time his leg physics were freaking out. This thing was going in every direction (I'm just waiting for it to break off and fly away) as I'm being told a very somber story of how he lost his love ones.

Not really a glitch, but during a quest Paladin Danse jumped off the second floor in a building, and power armor slammed right on top of Nick. Nick went "Aaahh!" and was thrown down another hole. Pretty hilarious.

Not exactly a glitch but still made me chuckle. Was looting the drive in theater and got hit with a mine.

My character yells out "MY LEGS!!"

Backpedal into another mine. Blows my arms off

Heh, I lost Carla's brahmin and couldn't find it for days. Then I went in the workstation house and found the huge cow taking up the matresses in the living room.

Also, Dogmeat constantly opens the backdoor that I rebuilt on my old house. He could just run through the garden, but his pathfinding insists on going through the house. Nobody closes the bloody doors.

Check out the "Head loss" video on youtube.

As for my own experience, it was incredibly early in the game and I had a fairly beastly shotgun. I went to the first vender (the one whose son is trying to recover from addiction) and sided with the shop owner. When the raiders - or w/e they were - turned on me, I targeted the main guy in VATS and blew his head off which send his body flying 100 feet. That was the day my shotgun was renamed to "Holy @#$%".

There's a certain mission (which I wont spoil) in which a shootout occurs and you're supposed to pick a side, yet despite me picking one the other "enemy side" still didn't become hostile so it just became an npc shootout with me casually walking around in the middle looting corpses.

And at one point there was a gun at the feet of one of my "enemies" and I was stood about an inch in front of him trying to grab it while he got gunned down.
I completed the mission without firing a single shot.

besides the burning dog? or the floating dog? of the infinite loop of my dog sneezing at one point? or the fact that my dog can move small cars but I cant?

The other was the first encountered death claw in concord. I killed it near one of the trucks in town. came back later on and watched the corpse of the deathclaw and the truck flip and tumble around each other like they were fighting.... quite hilarious.

the other one was this guy with a fat man kept launching mini nukes into the ceiling of this house I trapped him in. After one misplaced shot I believed he killed himself.

Companions occasionally adopting a Jesus on the cross pose and floating around without moving their limbs.

Oddly I saw exactly the same glitch in the Witcher 3, despite it using a completely different engine.

Maybe the Good Lord is trying to tell me something?

I found an area with construction and maintenance signs, and NPCs telling me the hallway needed repair. The wall models and geometry on the hallway had glitched and stretched out in all directions, so it was appropriate! A quick save and reload fixed the geometry.

During this one mission, There was a deathclaw. So I started fighting it and was running away while reloading. The deathclaw chased me and picked up a car to throw (i was hiding behind it) and then just dropped it on himself and died xD. Im just like.... "Ok?"

Only major glitch I have seen besides traders brahmin sinking into ground was doing the police station where the 1 bos guy was wounded, after they went back in I was outside looting and my companion sat in same spot the wounded guy was and he started holding him chest. Guess the animation was keyed to the spot...

Taking the Castle. Fighting Sarge. He suddenly took off like a rocket. I mean straight up. At first I thought it was a new evasive tactic for the Sentry Bot (given the new run and hide tactics from other enemies). He was inside the ceiling and I couldn't hit him with anything, even explosive damage. Took a minute for him to come back down.

I've killed a ghoul and as it died it's neck spontaneously grew about a foot, so it laid there looking like a lifeless giraffe burn victim.

I also got hit head on with a missile, but instead of getting airtime when I died my body stayed static and my head, arms and legs flailed around frantically before my body dropped and hit the ground.

Start to lock pick a locked door when piper interrupts me by walking through it...aparently she asked for directions,

Watched a couple of Melle npc vs critter idiot fights where they ignored me and kept circling a bolder or car over and over again.

Cows somehow end up on roofs.

The fake Preston Garvey encounter where he was doing the running animation.....without moving.

I've had settlers kidnapped from sanctuary a few times, after I rescued them they never seemed to return to town... I later realized they were all standing in the middle of the river surrounding the town. You have to command them to walk into town before they resume their jobs.

I had a super-mutant dog running right for me full tilt. I head-shot it, and its corpse blew past me like a rocket, crested a small hill and plowed chest level into a nearby settler sending him sprawling.

It was several minutes before I could stop laughing.

I have seen two, the first was in the garage by the Super Duper Mart, I went down to the bottom level and looted a body, on leaving the garage there was a radiation storm so I headed back down to get out of it, and I found the body with one leg sticking into the floor, the rest of the body off the floor and slowly rotating.

The second one I was in the Police station garage and it suddenly started raining ghoul parts from a previous fire fight, they where slowly coming though the roof.

I had dogmeat in an elevator with me and he jumped up as we were going down and just hung there in mid air until we hit the bottom.

Activated an elevator. I went up, elevator did not. Looked down and saw the floor of the elevator way down below.

I've had the same glitch as Omega. Quoting seems broken on my phone. But I stood there in the elevator shaft like Wile E Coyote.
