Funny Character Names You Can Not Bring Yourself To Use...

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 7:40 pm

I've had character names pop into my head both as I play and also reading the boards. Even doing almost anything a funny name may pop up at times that get me smiling...

a couple to start things rolling:

M'aiq the Knife: A Khajit rogue. (From the old song, "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnOWikgTG2Q.")

Merkin: A female character that becomes a Werewolf. Merkin defined:

Spoiler
The word "merkin" is one of the perpetual bad puns of the Internet. It actually means "pubic wig" (such wigs are used, apparently, in the theatrical and film worlds as modesty devices in nvde scenes).

Floats-Like-Lead: An Argonian bum.

I just can not being myself to use these names, but they do get me smiling :)

Any name that doesn't fit in, even modestly, with the lore. 'Smelly One' is a cute name for a Khajiit thief/skooma dealer, but I wouldn't be able to take the game so seriously then. :P

I could never bring myself to use something whimsical and lore unfriendly like, say, Bambi or Barbie.

*glances down at signature* :lmao:

Here are just a few of the names I can't bring myself to use:

Bobbie Pins
Eve Iscerate
Pepper Spray
Scarlet Letters
C. Duce
L. S. Island
Dot Matrix
Anne Droid
Tess Tickles
Jenny Talia
Cole Slaw
Ken Tucky
Sue Falls
Ida Ho
Coco Cola
Rusty Nails
Jock Rash
Gail Bladder
These joke names I give to my good friend Shelly Mars to use, or not. She has actually used a few, to my astonishment. She has used Bobbie Pins for a thief character, Eve Iscerate for an assassin and Pepper Spray for an AK-47 wielding character in Fallout 3.

Wyrd, with your permission my next bard shall be called Jenny Talia. :D

I just had a character called One-Eyed Willem. I'm sure I have a rock bottom for names, but I haven't found it yet.

I have an Argonian called Spreads-her-Thighs, a descendent of Lifts-her-Tail.

There is no name I wouldn't try, on a whim. In fact, one of my characters is Nameless Ned.

Some of my other characters:

Hissee Fitz

Fausto the Orc Wizzard

Wild Elf

Penny Dreadful

Pink-Like-Nord

Barb-Ann the Contrarian

and my current "hero" - Yellow-Boy

Yeah. :)

I can do lore, though. I've recreated several NPCs from previous games as characters. For instance, in Oblivion, I had Caius Cosades, the chief spy in Morrowind, as a down-and-out skooma junkie thrown into the Imperial Prison for vagrancy. It actually "fit" with the lore of the previous game, where his "cover" was that he was an addict, and it was suggested that it was more than a "cover." Plus, he was suddenly recalled to Cyrodiil for not-well-disclosed reasons, which could have been related to his skooma use.

But for me, funny names lead to interesting characters. Often a name will occur to me, and it will suggest something about the character. It happened that way with Barb-Ann, who, as it turned out, was knocked into Tamriel as a result of being hit by a beer truck in Boston. :)

Two names i've used in Oblivion, but couldn't in Skyrim are Krushin Skulls and Krusher Reddin. Both would be orcs and have two handed War hammers.

I can't bring myself to play beast races, but I am considering Rajah Khan for a Khajiit & Tempts-Fate for an Argonian.

Feel free to use them if you wish.

Do it. I'm having an absolutely hilarious time playing a bumbling reluctant-hero Argonian named Yellow-Boy. :)

Pseron, you forgot one of my favorites: Poppy Seeds. I used that name (thank you!!) for an Alchemist character. Poppy set up a stall in Whiterun (with a little help from the "Your Market Stall" mod) and sold many of the ingredients she'd gathered on her collecting expeditions.

Paging Renee... :D

When I use a funny name, it's always in Fallout games rather than TES. But my 'funny' names are rather tame. My favorite was Brock Chesterton, a swaggering ladies' man with a muttonstache and Lucky Shades who used flamethrowers and brass knuckles. His name isn't a pun or anything; it just sounded to me like a somewhat ridiculous soap opera/porm star name. (Apologies to any real Brock Chestertons out there!)

Why thank you. I do have a list, indeed. Here they are roughly in order, from first to last

-PS3-

Blade 'n' Bone -- (default Nord guy, no customizing)

Thor a'Zaene -- (Nord warrior)

Claire Voyance -- (Imperial cleric. The Clairvoyance spell really fits her)

Crystal Beth -- (High Elf mage chick)

-Xbox-

The Mighty Khahkhayre -- (Dark Elf spellsword guy)

Skankee Krahk-ho -- (Dark Elf nightblade)

Lord Haaf-Mersey -- (Breton crusader)

Mycharonna the Ice Witch -- (Imperial witch, became vampire)

Uber Kness -- (Imperial guard. I roleplayed him saying funny things guards from Cyrodiil say)

Master Baytor -- (High Elf Thalmor spellsword)

-PC-

Claire Voyance 2.0

Master Baytor 2.0

The White Wizard -- (Breton guy. He is a beggar who is going to become my Arch Mage. He is based on character I had in high school).

Bjorn Tubewyyld  (haven't made him yet, but he will do Thieves Guild stuff. He'll be sort of like a Hell's Angels guy come to live in Skyrim, so he'll have the personality for TG).

There's a character name nobody would want to use: "Just-Ignore-Me," the sneaky Argonian thief. :D

Heh. To spite you I may actually use that name. See how you like it then. Oh, and by the way you really need to clear out your inbox. It's full.
