Funny Hat

Post » Mon Sep 19, 2011 11:13 pm

I have seen some videos of the forthcoming SkyRim game and I really am extremely impressed with what I have seen so far. However, and I am totally serious about this, something about the stuff I have seen is a real game stopper for me and I genuinely would NOT purchase this game if it were true . . . Does our hero really need to wear that silly hat, the hat with the silly turned down horns? If that is the case, or if it is not possible to change that hat within a few minutes of starting the game, then I will NOT buy SkyRim at all! Anyone know the answer? Is that silly hat really what our hero is required to wear for either the whole game or even for a small part of it?

You don't have to wear anything if you don't want to. Run free in your undies if you really want to.

Lol of course. You can take it off and remove it from your inventory if you hate it so much.

You probably don't start with the helmet anyway. But yes, you can take it off.

There are several Nordic-style helmets with horns. Of course, if you don't want to wear it, you can wear other or wear no helmet at all.

Probably a troll. [Account made today] But I was accused of being a troll the first time I posted with this new account so I won't judge.

No, I am not a troll. It was a genuine question to which I did not know the answer. I have used computers, mostly programming as a hobby, for more years than I care to remember, since the days of the Sinclair ZX80, but it is only recently after I retired from work that I started playing RPGs. I've played a few, not many, and I do know that most of those I have played allow you to change your garb at at least some stage in the game, but in view of the fact that every SkyRim video sample I've seen had the turned down horn hat I began to wonder whether it was a permanent fixture. Really. I am not stupid, and I am not a troll, but I am a relative newcomer to RPG games and a total and absolute newcomer to The Elder Scrolls.

Yeah, guys chill. It's a legit question. At least he isn't adding to million + Werewolf threads.

I have feeling that you wont even get the helmet when you start though. I think it's really just something the Skyrim team used to snag peoples attention. I mean, I haven't seen any game, that is memorable to me, with that look for a helmet, and it does look pretty cool, at least to me. It's just to be the "Skyrim Helmet!" I mean, if you look at footage from Gamescom or whatever its called, you can see people lined up to play the demo wearing a plush version of the hat. I really want one now.

1) You can wear whatever you damn well please (so long as it is in the game) hell, you can run around naked if you want.
2) The Dovahkiin helmet looks badass.
3) You are really going to let it swing your decision to buy the game?

No it is not troll bait and, as I said in my previous post, I am not a troll. I am a relative newcomer to RPGs and an absolute newcomer to The Elder Scrolls. Please do not think that the things which you know yourself are also known by newcomers, or that the answers are in some way self evident, because they are not. I imagine that most of the people who buy SkyRim will be TES regulars, just as you obviously are yourself, but hopefully this game will also be bought by many relative or absolute newcomers to RPGs, such as myself, and you are not doing either yourself or Bethesda any favours by mocking those people. In fact I was actually going to ask a further question, which you may also have mocked, until I saw a SkyRim video which answered it for me. The question I was about to ask was whether you could walk in SkyRim and admire the view, rather than run around all the time. This might have also sounded like a stupid question to you, but even though I have played just a few RPGs at least one of them did NOT allow you to walk, and it was necessary to run everywhere, something which I do not like. So, even though it might have sounded like a stupid question to you, it definitely would not have been a stupid question to me. Besides, there is no such thing as stupid questions . . . just stupid answers!

First question
The hat is a option to wear, and there are probably going to be many other types of looking helmets as well....and if you dont like the looks of any helmet you can just not wear one.

To answer your second question....
yes you can admire the beauty of the world of skyrim and you can walk, your not auto forced to run when you move/...
Its a Open world game that means the choice is yours to do whatever you want, you dont even have to the the main quest at all...you can just stick with side quest or not even take any quests....

You don't have to wear it. You can drop it and throw it in a river if you so desire.

pointless flame removed

Piece of advice: people had best be reading and following the forum rules you agreed to abide by when you joined.

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult or demean another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.
