Are there any humerous names of places where you live?

Some odd places near where I live:
Eggs and Bacon Bay
Baghdad
Penguin

So what about you?

There's a place called "Hevonperse" in Lapland. It literally means a horse's ass.

I'm always amused by the village of Nasty in Hertfordshire, and the rather odd Buttocks Booth in Northamptonshire.

There's a place called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%84teritsiputeritsipuolilautatsij%C3%A4nk%C3%A4 in Lapland. Not only is the name long (35 letters, longest place name in Finland), but it also sounds funny when spoken out loud. :P Doesn't mean anything hilarious, though.

I've been there <_<

total miss representation of the place :(

no rum, no beer, and certainly no six :flame:

then I find out, no coffeeshop :swear:

needless to say, it's now better know as "Big-hole-in-the-ground-where-Andy-blew-it-to-kingdom-come",

...but apparently that's too long for google maps :nope:

Well, not terribly funny, but interesting
L'Avenir (which means the Future)
Rivière-au-saumon (not in the plurial form, which suggest there's only one salmon in the river.)
http://www.nps.gov/grte/index.htm (not from here, but the name is funny if you know its origins... well french woodsmen back in the days of colonisation were lonely men... teton as in t.i.t.s)

I think I mentioned this before. It's a couple's house whose names are Connie and Domenic. They thus named their house...condem (like this, with the capitalization). lol

True story: the linguist David Crystal did a research visit to that town in Wales, and asked a waitress at a nearby cafe how to pronounce the name of the place.
She bent down and intoned carefully in his ear: "Lit-tle Chef."
