Further Improvement on the Tactical Aspect in the near futur

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:08 am

I'm bored, so I am posting this post in hoping that the future Crysis franchise should go back to its root, that is to encourage players to be more tactical.

The way I see it is that Crytek has all these skills, such as air stomp, sliding, kicking car to act as a barricade to prevent bullets or crush enemies, but the fast death rate(die from 2-3 shots) prevents players from utilizing these skills to maximum potential. I think in order players to utilized those skills more effectively is by allowing players to survive a little longer. For now, I feel like Crysis 2 tactical aspect is kind of weak and should be improved on in the near future, perhaps crysis 3 maybe. I also feel that the game has sort of wasted some of these useful skills when they should been been utilized more often in a game encourages players to be more tactical. Now, I know that people use maximum cloak, armor, and nanovision often, but that's just about it. Most folks would still play the game of running and gunning because of what Crysis 2 has turned out to be.

All of this is my personal opinion, so correct me if I'm wrong. Try to flame less : ).

With Crysis 2 as it is, Run n Gun is the most effective playstyle. This is what you get with small teams, small maps and no vehicles.

With larger maps, larger teams and the possibility of using vehicles you would have more tactical options to employ, and teamwork would become more necessary for success.

I don't think people need more health.

If there is a future title in the series, I'd like to see a return to the PC as the lead platform (as is apparently being done in BF3). This way, they can keep the stunning visuals and increase map size and playercount for PC, and just scale it back for consoles. That way everyone gets a great game which pushes their hardware.

W00t! a reply. Ahhhh, I guess I'll be looking forward to BF3 then. I guess we just have to sit back and wait to see what will be done on the next crysis. Will the next crysis go back to its root or not? Who knows...heh.

p.s. I wonder how many folks are stoked for BF3? : ). DICE, based on their latest interview, seems to be aware of the issue that a lot fps, nowadays, are not a unique game due to the fact that they chose to follow the king of fps footstep.

My hopes are up for the custom maps that will end up coming out of the sandbox and SDK sets. The engine is hardly pushing itself with any of the maps it currently has setup, if some mappers could create stunning designs I'd be thrilled, or perhaps Crytek can produce a PC only DLC(Free update <3) to introduce more ways to play.

Tbh, I think they'd please their multiplatform playerbase more if they just made separate maps for console and PC. The Lingshan island powerstruggle is awesome, and would please most of the PC fanbase, but just couldn't be done on console properly.

Give PC players a powerstruggle map with at least 24 players, and give the consoles another 2 or so stunning, but small meatgrinder maps.

Just release the C2 editor so we can all make these maps and features ourselves - on all platforms

You couldn't make the same content on a console. It's a fact.
