No further launches after starting on WIFI with no internet

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:42 pm

I launched Fallout Shelter when I had WIFI but the WIFI did not have access to the internet, this caused the Fallout Shelter application to crash, I have tried rebooting, powering down and powering up my iPhone 5 but the game will no longer launch.

I subsequently deleted the application and downloaded it again and i was able to start a new vault however after joining WIFI with no internet connectivity the same crash occurred and now I can no longer launch the application.

The application gets to the first splash screen and the a black screen occurs and crashes (doesn't make it to the menu!) curiously i still receive notifications for the app and the app switcher (double home tap) shows my vault in its last state.

I have crash logs if someone from Bethesda wants to get back to us.

Support said create a thread here and then they'll close my support call in 48 hours and assume it's fixed.. Go figure!

Are you on an iOS version < 8.3? If so, you can salvage your save using a program like iExplorer. I'm screwed because I updated to 8.3 in an attempt to fix this issue, but I was able to salvage my girlfriend's save by storing the .sav file, reinstalling the game, and then using iExplorer to put the save back. The reason it doesn't work >= 8.3 is because Apple improved security, and applications like iExplorer can know longer app data directories.

Maddening that the Bethesda hasn't released a fix for this, or even commented on it. At the company I work for, we'd have patched an error of this severity in 24 hours.

They probably didn't plan on touching the game until they released it for android. Maybe everyone bombarding apple for a refund will change their mind. Gtaff's only comment is that they are planning fixes/changes in the future, but that's about all we know.

I got the same issue and I have already got the refund for lunchboxes from apple. And the customer services says he would report the problem.

Have followed the question for a few days, I don't think Bethesda is going to patch this issue in recent future.
