really... wtf is with healing spells. They doesn't do ANY damage?

Or - are you really complaining that your spoon isn't as sharp as your knife? They are different tools with different intended uses. I suggest you play the game and work out it isn't in any way intended to be a direct damage shout.

+1.

guys... I'm definitely no troll.

I'm serious. I don't have all three words, you're right... but the principle of this power is obvious: it blows wind.

Cmon. You can use it to push people off a cliff? Really? it's a cliff kill shout?

2 problems there.

1. I don't set up battles on cliffs. I'm usually in a dungeon or on the plains. Even in High Hrothgar it's almost impossible (except on the actual stairs) to get in a position to use this for cliff kills. (that said, I've only done about 5% of the whole game, so perhaps there are many occasions for cliff killing???)

2. I pillage everything I kill. If I blow someone off the mountain, how will I retrieve my booty?

I'm not really whining about it... but I just don't comprehend how this shout makes the top of anyone's list!?

Big problem here - not every single power in the game is super useful to any and all situation I want to use it in. WTF! :shakehead:

?? I asked what the use of this thing was .... to try to FIND the situation to use it in... and you've all (mostly) relegated it to a funny cliff kill shout.

just wanted to make sure I was seeing it for what I thought it was. (it's fine if that's what you like... it's great having useless things to sideline you, I just like to know up front, thank-you-very-much)

There are many situations were you can launch people to their untimly deaths.

You just aren't looking enough.

EDIT: I also use it to disperse crowds, and remove certian baddies from play until i have time to kill their comrade. This shout is amazing. Its only limited by you in this case.

Has anyone ever used the "Quiet voice" shout (or whisper I guess it would be) to distract people? Seems pretty useless when you can just shoot an arrow instead?

It's an interrupt-attack, especially useful for those who dual-wield. It's more reliable than Shield Bash as well for staggering someone.

All three words combined, it's the greatest battlefield-control shout in the game. Sure, it doesn't do any actual damage, but you can use it to maneuver your enemies without putting yourself at risk: Shout them off cliffs, shout them into traps, shout them into walls, knock them down and get a good 5-10 seconds of free unblockable cheap-shots...

I find it a much more reliable damage-dealer than my Fire Breath shout, by allowing me more free swings of my Greatsword: Elemental Fury may increase my attack speed, but enemies can still block, dodge, or interrupt my attempts to swing (It also doesn't work with enchanted weapons). Ice Form may paralyze for longer, but it's a much harder shout to acquire, and can't be used to re-position enemies.

It's my favorite shout. Once you get it to Tier 3, you can knock out an entire room of baddies and have them flying 20 yards away. Strategically, it's awesome for a melee build as I can knock out an entire room and finish them off before they even get up.

I love using it when trying to knock baddies off a cliff... NEVER GETS OLD!!!

Correct.

If this were Star Wars it would be like saying "Force push does no damage?" - anything that can let you knock enemies all up in you face back (or keep enemies from getting up in your face to begin with) is extremely uesful. Then combined with certain environmental benifits (like the popular "shout off cliff" tactic) and one can never question the usefulness of it.

Fair enough... I understand I don't have it powered all the way and that there is a tactical implication for this shout. Another thing that I was ignorant of was SHOUTS aren't the same as POWERS. I was under the impression I could only shout once per day. I got them confused. I only just found the Amulet that said shorter time between shouts... I was like "huh?"
I didn't want to waste a shout per day by blowing wind.

Just wait 'til you get all three words. Unrelenting force is BAMF. You can literally send a grizzly bear or a giant flying ragdoll through the air landing 20 feet away. Then you can pelt them with arrows (or whatever) while they try to shake it off. It's a great time buyer when you get caught off guard by a tough foe.

And the cliff (or ledge) thing never gets old.

Actually you use the shout for one the thieves guild quests. When you have to go into that one guys house... you have to use the shout to knock down the ramp leading to the door.

1. Cooldown for most shouts is less than a minute depending on how many words you use.

2. Level 1 and 2 UF are very weak. Level 3 will blow just about anything off its feet, including Giants. Also, you don't have to be on a cliff per se to kill someone, hills work too.

3. It's a ridiculously fun shout.

I think that you feel every shout does damage or is supposed to...it doesn;t work like that. Unrelenting force is a tactical Shout, if you take my meaning. For example, I have two draugr on my left and a Draugr Deathlord on my right. I use Unrelenting Force on the two to my left, allowing me to concentrate on the Deathlord for a bit. Or I use it to give me a chance to just get away from a corner I'm trapped in.

Does it count as a kill in the stats menu if you push someone off a cliff with it? I'm playing a char who doesn't like to get his hands dirty himself and trying to see how far I can get on master with the kill count at 0.

THIS.

No offense at all bro, but if you think that all the Shouts are supposed to do damage than you are [censored] crazy..
Examples:
- Aura Whisper = shows life near you pratically
- Disarm = Disarms an opponent.

and much more, not all the shouts are supposed to be like Fire Breath..

It's basically worthless until you get all the words — staggers enemies just long enough for the animation to finish, and by the time you're able to attack again they've pretty much recovered. With two words you might get a hit or two in on normal enemies.

Yeah, on my dual wield character, the level one shout was enough for me to get in and stagger-chain any enemy in the game until level 15 or so. The level two one does it even better, and the level three one, on another character, lets you knock giants down and kill them at level 5 or something ridiculous, because it takes them like 10 seconds to get up.

okay, so I'm feeling foolish (not for disliking the wind blowing power, but for not realizing I can shout more than once a day!)... I just wanted to redeem myself somewhat (cuz you all thought I was trolling).

Even though I still don't have the last word for this shout, I'm enjoying it much more now that I can call it up multiple times per battle!! Wow... no wonder I thought this (and most other shouts) were useless!

Anyone else make this mistake or am I the only true nOOb here?

edit: new player. new player. new player. wtf.... i can't write nOOb?
