Future Crysis 3 pc build, thoughts?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 11:17 am

My current setup:
I7 2600k
SLI gtx 570 1.2gb VRAM
Corsair vengeance 8gb ram
P8p67 deluxe mobo
Asus 27in 3d monitor with light boost (1080p)
Zalman 850 w psu
Ocz vertex 2 120gb ssd (2 of them in raid0)

Upgrades I'm considering soon:
ASUS P8z77 WS mobo
I7 3770k
Gtx 690 (possibly will get a second one for quad sli)
2 more Asus 27in 3d monitors for 3d surround (5760 x 1080)

I want to be able to max this out in 3d. Since c3 is still a year away should I wait like 10 or 11 months to see what new tech is out (like gtx 7xx etc) or should I go these upgrades now? Thoughts?

You don't really need to upgrade for gaming just overclock your I7 2600, buy a nice cooling fan even better liquid cooling like the Corsair H70 or H100 and maybe buy a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 680.

My 2600k is already oc at 4.5ghz. And I'm pretty sure my 570 sli will already out perform a single 680, both of which won't come close to sniffing decent frames with 5760x1080 maxed out in 3d :)

If your going to just pump out one 1080p Screen(which is still the best way to play) I bet a gtx 680 is enough. The gtx 580 already was doing fine at Ultra (drops to 30 FPS min). So if you REALLY want a max Crysis experiences then get the gtx 690 or Mars 680 SLI or wait for GTX 780. Good day and I am done here.

dont upgrade dude! The pc only gets simple consoleports and the next generation consoles are pretty weak an on dx11. Your current system can easily handle these games. All pc games I got have around 100 fps with all on max, even the witcher 2. Developers dont make real pc games like the good old days! First they make a console version and then if they feel like it the add some extras, like fov, resolution settings and if you are really lucky dx11 or dx11.1 extras. Looking at crysis2, part 3 again be a console build with pc extras. Dont expect the same situation as with Crysis1. Back then there was no pc around that could run it on max, also due to weak development, but still a kick as software engine!

I would no invest in hw if i were you and would seriously wait until the game is reviewed by pc games sites. Did you not play part 2 on pc? How bad was that, and part 3 looks just like part 2

I don't get why you wanna get 2 GTX690s. Isn't it going to be similar to the 5xx stuff? Like 2 GTX680 are stronger and cheaper than 1 gtx 690. I'm not sure if your high clocked i7 will bottleneck the gfx cards but it's possible.

i had the same set up as you but the 1.2 vram was killing the fun i used to get stutter here n there dont get me wrong my 570s were really quick and loud i bit the bullet and went 680 classy sli the 4 gig vram comes in handy your be limited to the vram same way with the 690 i was going quad sli till i found out about 2 gig of vram with them my classys are so quiet and i would still choose one 680 over 570s due to heat noise and vram power consumption and your sb chip is good for a while yet m8 see you onthe cry 3 maps trigga23 merry xmas man !!!
