Future DLC Suggestions #7

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2010 10:33 pm

With us only getting 3 more DLC's, I doubt many of these suggestions matter, sadly.
This whole underlying story really takes away from what could've been some great DLC.
Now, I doubt we get to use the flight pods at Nellis, and so on and so on.
Shame. Fallout 3 gave us a bunch of different, creative DLC. This looks like it will limit us to Mojave.

Well actually I've heard rumor that we will get 4-7 DLC's that they are planning to make as of now, and it's still only afew months after the games release.

A New Reno dlc would be nice and a source close to bethesda did say that 4 dlc's other than Dead Money, where in production with another 2 being considered which would make 7 dlc's in all.
they said original fans of the series would be happy to know a location from the originals is returning,PLEASE NEW RENO NEW RENO NEW RENO i want to see the Chosens ones kid.!
also they metioned a character from fallout 3 would return in a latter dlc em Desond lockheart after his latest rival? and i doubt it would be madison LI as she most likely will be in the commonwealth druing fallout 4/

Elaborate? We can't have it an entire open book for Obsidian to fill in. We have to make it fair and a single few differences and add ins lol. What exactly do you want or did we cover that yesterday? ^_^

As in Have some twists to the DLC or new stuff but not so new. Like a faction that can just be in the DLC and not have just NCR and CL in it. Have different stuff in it.

...No they dont need any at all. F3 they didnt make enclave oriented DLC did they no. It was all neutral. Both factions had their time to shine in it now its time for something else.

I wouldn't say they should have a DLC specifically for Legion players, but a DLC in Legion territory to shed more light one what life as a Legion citizen is like would be great. We might be going to the Grand Canyon though, so that's a possibility.

There should be a DLC that has the BoS scavenging Area 51 with groups of scientists. Make it a BoS base, i think they would look good there.

I think they should add more changes that you can make, such as when you save primm (if you chose to) or being allowed to help a town prosper, like boulder city or goodsprings. maybe add some legion side quests asking you to help them establish a new base, or to scout the area. Build up a towns defenses, or find new supply routes for caravans, or invest. In fallout 3 you could invest in the caravans which gave you alot better options, and there's plenty of merchants in NV who look like they could use some endorsemants. Or maybe you could help the brotherhood retake helios one, or establish a new base now that you've either destroyed their base, or ended the lock down. The game seems very static with not alot of changes in the environment, where most of the encounters you can expect. throw in some randomness, or give the ability to change.

Yes i am aware about the titles from fallout wiki. But that there is confirmed from another source than fallout wiki is good to know, i backs up the recent facts and know we know for sure that they also are coming very soon. Ive read almost everything it is to know about new vegas on fallout wiki. The names are fairly accurat, but we do not know for sure and wich one of them is coming out first...
A total of 7 dlc is said to come out so no doubts that it will be more hints for the other uknow dlc`s in the soon to come ones. :)

And it's time again for my regular suggestions.

hardcoe Mode +1
  • H20, SLP and FOD meters go up three times as fast.
  • Radiation intake is tripled (Or maybe just x2.5)
  • Doctor Bags cost 500 caps
  • Doctors cost 500 caps to heal your health, radiation or addiction level. (Doc Mitchell will do all three for 250 caps but only heal limbs to 50% and only remove half the
  • radiation)
  • If you don't meet the weapons soft requirement then you're going to sway alot more and reload slower despite your Agility stat if you don't meet it.
  • If you don't meet the Strength Requirement then reload speed should be much more slower than it currently is, weapons sway more and recoil is like crazy.
  • Caps have weight.
  • Healing items (Chems and stimpacks) have weight.
  • Repair vendors charge twice as much as they currently do.
  • Weapon mods' price is increased by five times.
  • Ammo weight is tripled (excluding missiles which already have a ridiculous 3 weight.)

And then hardcoe Mode +2
All of the above but also with:
  • No fast-travel.

Please add in assassins or bounty hunters for each faction if we piss them off.
Like these:
Powder Gangers.
NCR.
Legion.
Khans.
Houses Securitrons. (Yes they'll go outside of Vegas/Freeside.
Kings. (Yes they'll go outside of Vegas/Freeside.
Van Graffs. (If you slaughter the store then Jean Baptiste and Glorias mother will send her own assassins after you)
Nightkin. (Black Mountain, kill them off then you'll get Nightkin after you/Kill Keene)
Fiends. (Yes add a reputation bar with them, I know it can only go down.)
Boomers. (If you kill Pearl and Loyal)
Brotherhood Of Steel. (If you kill even one of their soldiers)
Gun Runners.
Crimson Caravan.
White Glove
Omerta.
Tops.

I know it's a long list but I really think there should be more to it if we piss off a faction.

Extreme Mode pl0x!

No seriously, I'd really like that.
A non-canon mode which gives the enemy (or ally if you side with them) incredible equipment.
Sure the PC could get it as well once one kills a hostile NPC but it would still be a challenge.
Maybe just up and remove things like young gecko's or purple gecko's and molerats and replace them with something more dangerous like big packs of nightstalkers.

Just imagine how hard it would be at early levels when Powder Gangers run around with missile launchers and plasma grenades.
Or how NCR Troopers are all of the sudden armed with sniper rifles and Assault Carbines.
Or how Legionnaires are armed with stuff like Super Sledge and Ballistic fists.
Or how Nightstalkes at early levels have 5 more in their DT and their poison twice as dangerous.

Turn-based combat.
I remember this mod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFABEnF7b6I
Listen, I know it ain't as good as the old games but please, create some form of turn-based combat for us in a DLC.
Even if it's as simple as this thing.

Hey Obsidain, mind adding a new faction in the wastes which use completely random weapons and start showing up at lvl 20 around a lot of places in the wasteland?
From 9mm pistol to grenade machine gun, these guys and gals will use everything. (Except mines, I don't know if NPC's can plant mines or how their AI would work with that)
I wouldn't mind it if they had about as much info as Vipers have in the game (none) but it would be better with some new dialogue or holodisks explaining a teeny weeny bit about them.
This faction could really switch up the gameplay.
One time you're meeting four of them with knife, sawed off shotgun, plasma pistol, flamer and the next time you might meet eight of them but this time with knife, riot shotgun, scoped hunting rifle (Yes, these guys are allowed to use modded weapons as well), plasma grenades, brass knuckles, grenade launcher.
It would mean that sometimes these guys can pose a real threat.

And if not completely random, how about them spawning at lvl 1 but gaining leveled equipment alongside the player?
So that by lvl 30 the only items they will use are the top of the line weaponry like multiplas rifle, grenade machine gun, ballistic fist, AMR, super sledge etc.

This faction would also wear either random armor (if going by the first example) or leveled armor.

Where should they spawn?
These guys take over other npc's and creature spawns temporarily.
So for example, at the first dry lake there are tons of giant ants.
But when you go there you might meet this faction who has replaced their spawns.
After you kill them and wait three days the spawned creature will once again be giant ants.
If this is too complicated and can't be done then just add at least 30 new spawns for these guys around the wastes.

Don't get me wrong.
I don't want this faction to be it's own DLC.
But rather have this faction be included as a bonus with Dead Money or Honest Hearts.

One problem I see with this is that we might have it too easy to earn money by killing them.
So how about this, these guys have explosives on them which are rigged to a small heart monitor so that when they die they automatically blow up into tiny pieces and all equipment they have will be lost. (I think I saw this on a Lost episode.)
Why they do this? Maybe they don't want their enemy to get the upper hand if one of their members were to die.
You can still pick-pocket their stuff though but they have a raised awareness so it might prove more challenging than with regular npc's.

This faction might actually be a faction that is challenging to meet.

Obsidian, take a look at this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1148266-they-shoulda-been-companions/
If it's possible for you (with the voice actor/lore/character/???) to make some of them companions in a DLC as a bonus I'd think we'd all appreciate it.
(I know they need their own storylines and all but you've got great writers so that shouldn't be a problem right? ;) )

I don't know if there is a patch thread anywhere so I'll just post this here.

My interpretation of Explosives: (How they should be designed: Fixed by a patch)

Pro's:
* Enormous AOE damage.

Con's:
* Expensive ammo.
* Rare® ammo.
* Slow rate of fire.
* Very VATS focused. (with grenades and especially dynamite..)
* Blows every thing that isn't inside a container or a body to narnia.
* Can kill companions fairly easily.
* Double edged damage. (You can die from you own weapon very easily)
* Breaks your limbs.

Okay, that's my interpretation.
Now, how many of these pro's and con's are in the game?
All of them but rare ammo and enormous damage.
So if we take those two away, currently it looks like this:

Pro's:

Con's:
* Expensive ammo.
* Slow rate of fire.
* Very VATS focused. (with grenades and especially dynamite..)
* Blows every thing that isn't inside a container or a body to narnia.
* Can kill companions fairly easily.
* Double edged damage. (You can die from you own weapon very easily)
* Breaks your limbs.

YouseewhatIdidthere?
Explosives currently have no actual Pro's to weigh out the Con's IMO.
Explosives "need" that ridiculous damage.

It might seem too powerful but you know what? They're meant to be like that.
A dog is not suppose to be able to survive a freaking dynamite!

I'm against realistic damage otherwise but considering how unbalanced and utterly CRAP Explosives are I think that they need this realism.
Only problem is GMG though as it's ammo is plentiful and kills stuff with ease.
Maybe it's ammo should be cut back a little but keep it's damage.

So Obsidian, mind patching Explosives to make them worth a damn?

And before anyone says anything: No I won't consider Explosive a support skill in New Vegas, maybe it was in Fallout 3 but now the skill has the chance to become a main skill.

dont forget to add perks that dont work

I would like for these NPC's to made into companions as a side-bonus in the future DLC's.

Dead Sea. (More detailed)

Requirement:
After completing the Forlon Hope quest for him and agreeing to meet Caesar and completing the first quest Caesar will order Dead Sea to leave Nelson to another Legionnaire and give the PC a helping hand.

Faction interaction:
Dead sea would agree to disguise himself but certain NCR people can still sniff him out so one needs to be careful with him around.

Perk: +10% running speed and +5% critical chance with bladed weapons.
After completing his personal quest's depending on how you complete it you either get Trooper Angst perk which makes NCR Troopers Run away in fear after losing 50% health, NCRangers run away after losing 80% health and Desert Rangers after losing 85% health.
Or you get Battle Rush, whenever combat is engaged (with the [Danger] thingie) you get +20% additional running speed to his current +10% for 10 seconds (in order to close the distance) and Melee and Unarmed weapons get +30% critical chance and +10% critical damage for 10 seconds.

Personal quest:
After getting him along for the ride you can ask him of his past which he is willing to give out but in very short militant answers. (Mostly yes and no answers)
He will explain in a bit more detail of how he left aside his personal desires in order to not have anything hold him back from making Legion succeed in their cause.
But he has a chip on his shoulder.
His brother, Macelius, was also a Legionnaire which he was very close with even under Caesars rule.
Over the two brothers Caesar actually preffered his brother more, both personally and from a tactical and military stand point.
But Macelius and his scouting unit was captured by a NCR scouting party while one of Macelius' recruits were on watch duty.
The scouting party proceeded to torture and kill the legionnaires while leaving one member alive to run back and tell The Legion of what they'd done.
The lone legionnaire refused to run back like a coward and lit a fire that poured out black smoke and wrote what had happened on a note before he killed himself.
Dead Sea's unit were the one's who saw the smoke and found Macelius' unit wiped out.
Dead Sea wants to go on a revenge quest in order to harm those profligates who ended his brothers life.
During his quest you will need to go undercover with him and find out from various NCR officers who this scouting party was and where they are now.
You can decide whether you want to go the easy route and just kill them all (which will give you the Trooper Angst perk) or you can learn more about them and make sure they feel such heartache that Dead Sea felt by dealing with things differently. (Which will give you Battle Rush)
One of the people Dead Sea is out after (Let's say his name is Johnny Boy) could have a brother for example, and by murdering him and sticking his head on a pole outside of Johnny Boy's camp with the words "For Macelius" carved into his forehead make him feel the same pain he did.
There is no "peaceful way" to end his personal quest.
Might seem like it's very biased towards being a murdering bastard but guess what?
These are NCR people.
Dead Sea and The Legion are most likely going to kill them later on anyway.
And Dead Sea's hatred towards these people burns to hard to just "talk him out of it".
It's a great way for assassin characters though since the Battle Rush way requires you to be very stealthy about it.

Anders

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Anders

Faction: Great Khans.

Enemy: NCR, Legion.

Default gear: Great Khan simple armor, RCW, combat knife.

Recruitment: I found it a bit ridiculous that I couldn't just help him right away without having to start the quest by Jack and Diane.
So when you find him at Cottonwood Cove you can decide to cut him down, when he returns to Red Rock Canyon you can talk with him again and ask if he'd like some revenge on Legion?
He will think you're crazy and tell you jokingly "Heh, right, yeah I'll help you fight the most brutal army I've ever seen if you bring me 10 legionnaire armors."
Well, if you actually go out and collect 10 legionnaire armors and bring them back he will be shocked that you were able to do it.
But he'll start thinking about how he'd really want to get back at them and since the PC has proven themselves to him he will join them.
But the PC can't get him until 2 weeks after he's returned to RRC cause he needs to rest and heal up.

Perk: With Anders in your party you get diplomatic immunity with every single Fiend, Jackal and Viper in the wastes, you'll get a +30% discount with chems and he'll be able to give you 5 chems of your choosing every third day.

Personal quest: I'm probably going to expand on this a little later but right now I've just woken up and I don't feel like using my brain too much but let's just say that his personal quest has something to do with Boone, Cottonwood Cove, Omerta's and Oscar Velasco.

Victor.
Requirement: After accepting to help Mr House he would offer to help the PC out.

Enemy: No true enemies until NCR and Legion turns on you. (He will only follow you on the House path, he will not follow you on Legion, NCR or Yes Man routes.)

Perk: Explosives gain a +20% damage with him.

Personal Quest: I dunno, he seems to have amnesia himself so what about triggering key events that make him automatically remember stuff prior to coming to Goodsprings and helping the PC? Maybe you can even convince him that House isn't the best hope for Vegas and make him join you on NCR, Legion or Yes Man playthroughs.

Harland

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Harland

Requirement: After completing the Come Fly With Me quest you can persuade him into joining you out in the wasteland.

Enemy: Harland does not believe in neither House's, Legion's or NCR's goals so if you're not going for independent vegas then he will turn on you.

Perk: Traps are high-lighted (has an aura around them) and you get +40% sneak attack critical damage as well as +4DT if you stand completely still.

Personal quest: Harland wants to find a new love, he wants to settle down, there are a couple of potential female ghouls he could partner up with, completing this quest will make him leave you though. The other part of the quest is to convince him to use his skills to help people instead of just caring about himself, depending on what you say to him he might want you to follow through with NCR or Legion, completing this quest will on the other hand mean he don't want an independent Vegas and will leave if you don't side with his preference.

I thought he was pretty damn cool when we ran into him, and would love to have an Independent-only companion. I don't really like your ideas for the quest though, I think something to do with his past would be better, just because ghouls tend to have very rich histories.

Well I'm not part of Obsidian or Bethesda so I really don't have a say in the matter when it comes to the personal quest, just gave a quick pitch to it. :P
But yeah depending on how they evolve the character he could have something really deep to him.
