Future expansion suggestion: Play as a Daedra

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 5:48 am

My suggestion for a future ESO expansion would be to allow players to chose to be a Dremora, Atronach, or other lesser Daedra. The expansion would be located on the Planes of Oblivion. The basic storyline would be that the player鈥檚 character would work against Molag Bal鈥檚 plan in order to gain personal power and the favor of the other Daedric Princes (I doubt any of them would be very keen on Tamriel becoming part of Coldharbour.)

Additionally players could take their existing, veteran characters that have completed all 3 faction鈥檚 storylines and play the expansion鈥檚 storyline with them.

That sounds like it would be a lot of fun actually.

love the fact that these ideas are popping up already, but i find it silly to debate on an expac when we havnt even played the full version release of the original game yet. just my humble opinion.

I would expect the first expac to be released 5-5-15 to be honest. well over a year after launch, cool start date, and we could be given content updates(as they have said) to hold us off.

I personally like this idea, especially since The Elder Scrolls game that is close to me is Oblivion. But I wouldn't be expecting anything, to be honest. I'm a little pessimistic when it comes to suggestions to huge companies.

I would much rather have an expansion where I can join the Worm cult and assist Molag Bal & Mannimarco. A fourth juggernaut faction in PvP with Daedra NPC allies that is balanced by being forced to always defend, and at that, defend from the other three factions at once. Members of Bal's faction cannot take keeps or do the other extensive stuff. Strictly defending for big battles. Small groups of skirmishers can head into Cyrodill for hit and run tactics maybe.

Playable Dremora[restricted to only the Worm cult] would be a plus. Otherwise, all races playable in this faction but with their own unique cultist war-paints, like the white skull-face. These appearance options are only available to this faction.

Complete with a dedicated Necromancer/Conjurer class to boot.

There are a few problems with this though. The only Daedra that would be able to work against Molag Bal would be the ones who are his servants and if they even try he'd just wipe them from existence. Each Daedric prince's plane of Oblivion is located within himself, they elected to have their own individual worlds instead of participating in the creation of Nirn.

I never see it happening, it makes zero sense from a lore/game perspective. Unless perhaps it's a purely pvp related option, e.g. like in LotRO. Even then I seriously doubt it.

I just don't see them breaking the lore that hard for a random PvP option.

Daedra cannot be erased from existence, period.

Dremora serve whomever they want, Molag Bal cannot make the Dremora do anything. The Dremora are powerful enough to grace Bal with their temporary loyalty.

The whole premise of this alliance war has no grounds in canon. A hundred years later and no one even knows there was an attack by Bal. This whole event is shrouded in time-warping mystery. Issue of canon is completely irrelevant.

Regardless of who wins the PvP war. Regardless of the 1,000th "Emperor" crowned. No alliance wins. They ALL lose. I presume because of the actions of the "Soulless One[s]."

In the mean-time, there is room for Bal to actually succeed momentarily, just as there is a chance for the Dominion or the Pact or whatever to succeed momentarily. Because it is strictly momentarily and will never be canon aside from rumors and lamentations from in-universe authors and biased historians.

The lore is preserved. Good guys have their extra motivation to fight for good. Bad guys have something worth fighting for that benefits them . RPG portion is satisfied, as is the MMO portion. Everyone wins! How about that!? :D

You don't really believe that I'm sure, no one could possibly believe that.

Do you even know the story of the background related to the ESO?

Molag Bal controls his realm and can erase it thus erasing anything in it..

Though the game is not canon it does have an actual spot in the lore and so far all of the story makes perfect sense where it's at in the lore. Just have to take it as it comes. I just honestly don't see them giving people that option, it's never been in any game before and there would no point other than to satisfy a small groups want to be evil.
