The problem I see with Fallout soundtrack is (we only have it since '08 anyway) that it so far only contains pre-war music and only from the 50's as latest (except for the few tracks recorded specifically for New Vegas and it's DLC Dead Money plus Old World Blues' jazz, I don't know about Agatha's violin songs from Fallout 3). I don't see this as a major problem, in fact I very much like the 50s music and I think it should stay. The thing is that there was music from after the 50s of course. It wouldn't be our real world music though, because the timeline of Fallout's world and the real world diverged soon after WWII. So it isn't as easy to incorporate. On the other hand it should be featured in my opinion, as it simply isn't realistic to not have new music.
The radio stations will reappear hopefully, and I do it as follows:
One radio station features 50s and before music. Easy going, because the music already exists.
I'd love to hear Dean Martin's 'Somewhere There's a Someone' (especially if it fits with the Player Character's background, like The Ink Spots' 'Maybe' masterfully does in Fallout 1 - "maybe the one who is waiting for You will prove untrue 'shiver') This thread can be used to post all your suggestions.
The other stations are much more difficult to implement:
One features music from the Fallout 60s to it's 2070s. The further from the divergence we move, the more different the music becomes. Remixes from 60s, 70s and 80s songs are plausible I think. Also some of our well known real world artists could be appearing as Fallout versions of themselves (somebody had nice covers of a 50s inspired Iggy Pop and others). Later songs would be completely new and, although 50s inspired (World of tomorrow) have a futuristic vibe to them.
And one last has post-war music. This is completely new stuff and could be very different from anything we know in our world.
This is just my views about this, any suggestions (also for specific songs) are welcome!
And when we finished the game I'd like to hear an alternate version of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It'.
