The effects of the spell that Vehk placed on the moon didn't stop its velocity. It was literally frozen in space as well as time. Even a small asteroid can destroy massive amounts of land.

Does Vvardenfell will be inhabited by Argonian?

Right now it's controlled by Argonians, but I doubt any of them actually LIVE there.

A few probably live in the southern most regions but it's largely inhabitable at the time being. By the events of TES V, which according to some rumors are over 150 years after Red Year, the province should be habitable again. The Nords, Orcs and Dunmer will probably join together and drive the Argonians out at some point though.

I'd like to know more detail about the damage the eruption caused, both to Vvardenfell and mainland Morrowind, as well as the islands surrounding Vvardenfell, but I guess I'll have to wait.

I guess we really have to find out by maybe from the 2nd book and TESV . Then again TESV might not be future for the slim chance though so we might not learn anything.
From what I'm thinking somehow Morrowind will rise from the dead , not anytime soon. If the rumor for TESV being 200 years after the book I think some of it might be remade by that time.

Well getting back to physics and astronomy since tiny 1cm at impact type meteorites make huge craters - something the size of the Vivec Moon would destroy the planet ... Red Mountain got off lightly - so there is still somewhat missing. Well a LOT missing.

What is usefull in this is that since Gods apparently exist or not according to belief in them, wiping out Red Mountain should put an end to Dagoth Ur. So there was something useful there from the point of view of folks who would not want all of Nirn ruled by Dagoth Ur. Ref a certain moderator's rp in that forum for what Dagoth Ur would have made of Nirn.

And this outcome was certainly unexpected

I am just wondering how this will affect TESV if that takes place in Skyrim? Does that mean there be books about a Nord vs migrating dunmer clash a century or so previous? Assuming folks still believe that TESV will be Skyrim? Or would it take the Nords and the dunmer a century or two to build up to that?

As was stated, part of me thinks they nuked Morrowind because it's undoubtedly the province with the most emotional attachment, making the event ever more serious and pivotal to the movement of the world. Besides, it's been explored in great depth already - can't destroy Elsweyr or Summerset considering we have yet to visit them. The other part of me thinks they're trying to spite us Morrowind players. Remind me, did Greg Keyes play any of the games besides Oblivion?


I hope so. I always found these three to have a lot in common: Orcs and Dunmer share the conflict of subverted faith (Velothi Saints vs Tribunal, Trinimac vs Malacath), they all have some degree of attachment towards ancestral worship, and they all boast some pretty good fighters. :toughninja:

A 1cm impact wouldn't make a huge crater and an object the size of Vivec's moon wouldn't threaten a planet. The near earth asteroid that will be passing by in 2029 and possibly hitting earth in 2036 is roughly the size of a football stadium. It will cause some pretty amazing tsunamis or if it hits land, some number of dusty years.

To compare, the meteor that is thought to helped kill most of the dinosaurs is usually thought to of been over 5 miles across.

And Sheogorath wasn't interested in destroying the whole world, just Vivec and a lot of things around him.

About the "Red Year", yes it is the worst period in the Dunmer existence. But as long as there are survivors they will rebuild their lives somewhere. Their culture was already destroyed as it started with the beginning of the Tribunal (they weren't even Dunmer by them, they were still Chimer before the three "god wanna-bes" betrayed Nerevar) and ended when their gods died/disappeared.

I expect to see Black Marsh absorb southern Morrowind where it is a swamp and maybe a bit more room around it as a safety zone. By the time of TES V the Dunmer will still be nothing more than refugees as even a human population would not recover of near genocide that fast and Elves do not breed as fast as apes.

Clouds from a Vocano/meteor impact have to be horrendous - add in your tsunamis ... does not look good for sea-based species. Same for Argonians and Hist as their swamp is lowland even if protected from direct effects. Surprised they were in any shape to invade. and given the Helseth/Empire had already outlawed slavery effectively ... I suppose some will argue that knock-on effects were all part of Vivec's thinking and he was looking ahead - what with CHIMp but again the Devs sure were. However, in game there are interesting possibilities emerging here ... still looking forward to the next release and TESV

I think it'd make a good martial arts movie.

The devs at Bethesda have stated that each game will focus on a specific province (except Arena, which will likely be the only TES game to take place in ALL of Tamriel).

So I assume they are "done" with Morrowind for a good long time, at least until they cycle through all the other provinces, which is what... 5 games? So 5 games from now (10+ years?) they may return to Morrowind!

Morrowind is my favorite provenience, I think, so this is disappointing... BUT if they make some decent TES games (instead of freaking Oblivion, which svcked) then I'll be happy.

If they let the Argonians integrate the land that used to be Morrowind into Black Marsh, we may be able to revist it when they make a game there. :shrug:

You are right, I think that we will only return to Morrowind in a game involving Black Marsh.
