Future of Vvardenfell (spoilers if you haven't read the new

The devs at Bethesda have stated that each game will focus on a specific province (except Arena, which will likely be the only TES game to take place in ALL of Tamriel).

So I assume they are "done" with Morrowind for a good long time, at least until they cycle through all the other provinces, which is what... 5 games? So 5 games from now (10+ years?) they may return to Morrowind!

Morrowind is my favorite provenience, I think, so this is disappointing... BUT if they make some decent TES games (instead of freaking Oblivion, which svcked) then I'll be happy.

Every release has been my favority one until I have played the next ;)

Indeed. Him and Jauffre (one of very few Oblivion characters whom I felt some attachment to) would make a great team!

I'm sure they'd both be dead or very, very old by the time this happened....

Also the reason I included the Orcs in the campaign to retake Vvardenfell is that they were already teaming up with Nords to try to invade Morrowind before it was ever nuked. They would see the Argonians as a common enemy along with Dunmer and Nords.

Teotzlcoatl....it'll be a lot longer than 10 years before another five Elder Scrolls games are made, since only two came out this decade. It'll be over 20 years before each Province is covered. I doubt we'll be going back to Morrowind.

I think the Red Year takes place not many years after the Oblivion Crisis, so both men were probably still alive when it happened, though probably not still alive when "The Infernal City" takes place 40 years later. What will be interesting to find out is what happened to the Blades. Either there are a few warrior monks left at Cloud Ruler and elsewhere, or the order is completely gone and there are a few ex-Blades who are Talos monks.

Is there a possibility that they now serve Emperor Mede, or did the book rule that out?

Mede has a completely new and more cut throat, ruthless spy network known as the Penictus Oculotus (sp?).

Cloud Ruler Temple is mentioned as still standing, as Titus Mede took his young son Attrebus there on his first hunting trip, or at least in the Jerall mountains nearby. Attrebus had memories of its architecture and the serenity of the place. He didn't mention seeing any Blades, but that doesn't mean they're not still waiting there.

The Blades served the covenant, in my opinion, between Akatosh and Alessia, the covenant which produced the Remans and Septims. Titus Mede formed a new Empire from the remnants of the old, and the Dragonfires are obviously no longer needed to maintain the liminal barriers between Oblivion and Mundus. The Blades probably are defunct as an organization now since they have no patriarch to protect.

If they let the Argonians integrate the land that used to be Morrowind into Black Marsh, we may be able to revist it when they make a game there.

hence why we only went to Vvardenfell?

Well I figured they'd make a full game there regardless, but if it's part of Black Marsh we might be able to go there sooner.

You are right, I think that we will only return to Morrowind in a game involving Black Marsh.

Since Black marsh is all jungle and would be extremely hard to make a game out of, perhaps he will get a game about the Argonian's on mainland Morrowind. Do hist-trees walk? if so, one may have placed itself in Narsis or Tear.

I'm pretty sure we'll see a game in Black Marsh eventually, but obviously Bethesda should wait until they're capable of creating it to it's full potential before making a game out of it.

Exactly. I don't want them to set games in the more unique provinces until they have the technology to do so. Skyrim is a good choice, it will be TOUGH to screw that up. Hopefully by the time TESVI comes out, they'll have the ability to make one of the more unique provinces look good.

Snow was superbly done in Daggerfall. If they cannot do as well or better for TESV then ...

It's actually a surprisingly believable twist of events. The dunmer in Morrowind had treated the Argonians like [censored] for so long, once they saw the opportunity, they took revenge.

The Ministry of Truth was a giant rock thrown at Vivec City, which Vivic froze. Once it was released after Vivec dissappeared and nobody could keep it sustained in the air, it continued its pace from when it was thrown. So it crashed and destroyed most of Vvardenfell. I just think that it would have a more devastating toll than that, but I'm not about to nitpick details of realism in a fantasy world.

You have me on the fence there for I suspect that Argonian motives encompass far more than simple revenge. Do Hist/vegetables seek revenge or redress of imbalance?

Re the Ministry of Truth - I always saw that as an intended threat and an act of opression. For that reason it would not have surprised me if Vivec lied again and threw the Rock himself ... You see if he was holding it up rather than it was being help up by a self-maintaining enchantment for example, then by removing the momentum, sending it on it's way in another direction or whatever he would have removed the constant drain it was supposedly making on his carefully hoarded resources. Freeing up strength he supposedly needed to hold off Dagoth Ur ...

The other side of the coin might be that Vivec had plans that included the eventual impact and consequences.

Given that none of us know the speed of the MoT before it impacted, we can't really know how much devastation it would realistically cause. Apparently it was just enough momentum to destroy Vvardenfell. And yes Vivec left it there as a threat. Someone already quoted the sermons where Vivec mentions to Nerevar that he could have removed it if he had wanted to.

AKA I'll let this rock kill you if you stop loving me. I'd call that a threat but if you prefer to bandy words, go ahead.

Pretty petty and insecure if you ask me. "I am your god! Love me or I'll kill you all!" So it's perfectly in-character for him.

I don't think Vivec is that petty. What probably happened is simply that he no longer had enough power to keep it in stasis, or he had left for Aetherius as portrayed in "The Trial of Vivec", or both.

It's almost as if he strapped explosives to the dunmer and held on the detonation button, which was the passed onto the dunmer people when he left. "You are all strapped to explosives! If you don't love me, I'll release the trigger and blow you all up. *few years later* I'm going to go do other things because I'm bored now. Here's the detonator, but be careful, it's still armed and will go off if you release the trigger. Cyaz!" . Perhaps the dunmer had mass Stockholm Syndrome :P

Initially I was furious upon hearing it, but now I've accepted that it more or less makes sense and will be good.
However, I did have this scenario in mind.
Let's say the Nerevarine never comes back, Dagoth Ur wins. Landfall still occurs when the people lose love for Vivec, and Voryn Dagoth and his kin are destroyed by... explosion and eruption. What use is the Nerevarine, then?. In my mind, the Nerevarine is made not even important, since Dagoth Ur was gonna off himself anyways. This is the main reason for why I am uncomfortable, that the Nerevarine's tasks have been made trivial.

Hopefully you hear at some point that Nerevar made a triumphant return and kicked those filthy lizards back into the puke pits from whence they came.

I'm fairly sure I won't ever play through morrowind again as the Nerevarine, because... what's the point?

But therre again maybe if the Nerevarine was there he/she (the Nerevarine might have been an Argonian right?) might havefound a way to prevent the fall - or maybe the Nerevarine had ahand in making it happen after he/she disappeared for good reasons unknown? Who knows? There is still Book 2 to come and TESV

The Nerevarine's actions saved Tamriel, not just Morrowind.

Mind you, he/she was only ever just a pawn of Azura anyway.

This whole Morrowind Destruction has got me interested into TES Lore again after I lost it all after playing Oblivion. I might even buy the book. I'm not mad about Morrowind being destroyed much, sometimes the most powerful story is told when the thing you love is taken away from you. Morrowind's coolness kinda ended after the events of TESIII anyway, after the end of the temple. Just so long as that rock didn't commit genocide on the dunmer when it hit ground zero, I'm totally cool with it. It's not like we didn't know it was going to happen anyway, ala Love Letter.

In fact, this destruction preserves Morrowind from the greatest evil of all. Bethesda's meddling. Better to die now in glory than die later in shame.
