I like to think Nerevar's telling stories in the court of the Tsaesci. An honored guest, with command of the serpents, but on the verge of death. Something akin to the overarching plot of Arabian Nights.

Unless he's been unmade by sword, spell or poisoned arrow, the Nerevarine is not dying. Age cannot touch him, and he knows not disease.

Immortals in the hands of Tsaesci are as good as dead.

The problem is that we don't know what the Nerevarine found. It could be anything from advanced civilizations resembling, for example, China; to barbarism. I can picture the Nerevarine travelling to Akavir to find out -- an amateur explorer. But I think we'll never hear of what he or she found there.

Well, yeah, it was just one of my silly ideas. Another is he'll come back to Tamriel, when the sum is 41.

Your idea of the Nerevarine as Scheherazade isn't silly. I wish we could hear someday what he or she found in Akavir, but I don't think we will. The devs seem to have once again focused on getting the protagonist out of the picture once their main quest has ended, including the COC in "Oblivion".

I don't think Vivec is that petty. What probably happened is simply that he no longer had enough power to keep it in stasis, or he had left for Aetherius as portrayed in "The Trial of Vivec", or both.

Maybe, but I have a somewhat different interpretation of the character than most. But being that Vivec is gone, however and for whatever reason, I don't think we will even know for sure. How fun :D

1) Why do you think Bethesda felt Vvardenfell had to be destroyed and/or was ok with the idea?
2) Do you think it was good for the game world?

Ok, I don't think Vvardenfell is destroyed. Just b/c the Ministry of Truth crashes into one the cantons in Vivec doesn't mean the whole island blows up. Am i wrong here?

Yes... the MOT took out Vivec city and triggered Red Mountain to erupt. The entire island of Vvardenfell is covered in lava and ash, and the seas surrounding it are still boiling at the time the book takes place.

I'd like to know more detail about the damage the eruption caused, both to Vvardenfell and mainland Morrowind, as well as the islands surrounding Vvardenfell, but I guess I'll have to wait.

It was a Daedra's fault that it happened, not the Nine.

True, but where are the nine to stop the Daedrea. They can't...b/c the Daedra are the real gods. What i say is fact not opionon.

Short version, that's fact, sure, but only when you're standing in the right place. On their own worlds the daedra are totally omnipotent gods. However, because the Nine divines are, in part, Mundus none of them are omnipotent, but because the daedra are not at all a part of Mundus they are weaker by comparison when there, while more powerful than mortals the Nine Divines can, with relative ease, banish them back to Oblivion.

Didn?t his actions ended up weakening Red Tower?

Yes, he ended the Blight and kicked Ur?s ass, but still the ultimate consequences of his actions would end up doing more damage

Not so sure I agree. yes, he set in motion red year, and yes he weakened the barriers between Mundus and Oblivion, but think, after a few more decades things will at least be stable, if Dagoth Ur won the entire world would be filled with corprus beasts, a zombie apocalypse on steroids.

But they would have their own stompy robot to stompy MD, so...I guess it couldn't have been that bad.

I'm pretty sure that if his ultimate goals were altruistic then he would have simply turned Bao Dur to dust with a wave of his godly hand. He kept that thing up there as a subtle symbol of oppression. "Obey me and my rules or you all die."

I tried to take part in a roleplay that one of the Mods was running in the forum here - it was worse. Okies she is a mod not a Dev as far as I know - but I can't fault the logic of the basic circumstances she described unless there is another 'power' on another continent greater than the Empire was.

Again in a previous age the Tsaesci invaded and ruled in Tamriel, but only held on for a while. It is one thing to fight on your own continent - totally different to try it on someone else's. Given the manner in which Dagoth Ur corrupted things he might well have gone onto take over the whole of Nirn ... as in-game lore suggested. So I have to agree with Lycanthropic on this one. You saved the whole of Nirn, Nerevarine - be proud. :D

PS Azura could not have succeeded without you because you were the one!

The Nerevarine's actions saved Tamriel, not just Morrowind.

Mind you, he/she was only ever just a pawn of Azura anyway.

This whole Morrowind Destruction has got me interested into TES Lore again after I lost it all after playing Oblivion. I might even buy the book. I'm not mad about Morrowind being destroyed much, sometimes the most powerful story is told when the thing you love is taken away from you. Morrowind's coolness kinda ended after the events of TESIII anyway, after the end of the temple. Just so long as that rock didn't commit genocide on the dunmer when it hit ground zero, I'm totally cool with it. It's not like we didn't know it was going to happen anyway, ala Love Letter.

In fact, this destruction preserves Morrowind from the greatest evil of all. Bethesda's meddling. Better to die now in glory than die later in shame.

I'm fairly sure even if the Nerevarine had never existed, that damn rock would have still caused Dagoth Ur and all his kin to die. The Nerevarine's existence is completely trivial, as in the end, Vvardenfell gets blooied.

Not before Ur finishes his stompy robot and leaves Vvardenfell to terrorize the rest of Nirn along with most of his zombiekin.

You're missing the plot-critical point that if there is no Hero, the Prophecy cannot be fulfilled.

It is the Nerevarine who removed Kagrenac's enchantments from the Heart of Lorkhan. It is for this reason that Dagoth Ur and the Tribunal could be destroyed. It is because the Tribunal were destroyed that the people's faith and love for them dissolved, and it is because the faith and love dissolved that the moon fell on Vivec City.

Ah, yes, I forgot that the ash creatures are effectivel immortal. Ascended Sleepers talking about waking and sleeping and whatnot.
Still, I can't help feel the Nerevarine's deeds are trivialized somewhat, though not quite as much as the Nerevarine's entire character is trivialized by the Akivir Adventure.

Haven't read the book, but I like the idea of Vvardenfell having been destroyed/catastrophically changed. It was bound to happen somehow, better it was taken out by Lie Rock.

All those treasures and mysteries never told of, they'll come again.

Also, I assume plenty of goodies of the nation's history survived in Mournhold and on the Nerevarine's person.
