[RelZ] FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition #30

Post » Mon Jun 21, 2010 7:12 am

Can you explain the installation process when upgrading from the regular version to the new FOMOD? I'm a bit confused.

Ahm see install instructions on the first page.
If you installed 4.11 via FOMM than simply uninstall it. If not, no big deal, you can simply install 5.0 over 4.1.1 and overwrite the existing files.
Again, just read upgrade and installation instructions on the first page of the thread.

I am activating the FWE_Master_Release_5-0_-_FOMOD in the FOMM, and it activates and becomes checked, but none of the files show up. I don't get the FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esm even. I will just download the non FOMOD version if I am the only one with this issue, so no biggie. Just thought I would mention it.

(not even showing up in data files either)

NVM, I manually placed the FMOD into the FOMM folder and it seems to be working now, sorry about that :)

Nah you can use existing characters from earlier versions. It's just recommended that you do a cell reset so the new enemy types can spawn in the game world (rest 180 hours inside your home)

I tried that last time and my main character, who's Level 16, got slaughtered :lmao: The more followers we had the laggier the game got, so I thought I'd finish her up then just stick with my new one who was 'born' when FWE was already loaded. I found it far easier with a new character.

That's handy with MMM. So really I only need the DLC plugins, the main esp and the FWE esp. I can uncheck the rest.

Keep in mind though that Mez's Merged Patch requires all DLCs, so be sure you have them, otherwise you need to create a Merged Patch yourself (again, just refer to ReadMe's)

I wondered about that. I couldn't tell if I needed Mez's patch if I already did my own merged patch. I figured they both do the same thing so just used my own. I had no problems although had to shuffle some mods around as most noteably my Awesomefied Plasma Rifles weren't Awesome anymore

I decided on going premium on Nexus just for this mod :P Unfortunately it's still going to take me longer than I thought to download. Only 1 and a half hours to go from a 2 hour download.
(I thought Premium downloads were uncapped. It seems awfully slow than what I'm used to and doesn't seem to go higher than 40 kb/sec - my usual d/l speed is anywhere from 60 to 100, though never on Nexus).

I'm sure I can find something to do while I'm waiting :)

Did you unzip the 7z file? You need to unzip the .fomod that is in there and then activate THAT via FOMM.
The fomod file is called FO3 Wanderers Edition.fomod, so apparently you didnt unzip it ;)

If you know how to make a merged patch, it's recommendable to make your own. Mez's is there for the folk that dont like reading ReadMe's ;)
But you need to make a new merged patch after upgrading to 5.0 obviously

I extracted the FOMOD to the mods folder and everything, and WinRar says the file was corrupt. A friend said that his manual install version was corrupt, too.

Winrar doesnt support .7z files. You need to download http://www.7-zip.org/.

Now to check out the readme and see whats what as i disappear into..FALLOUT 3 FWE :tops:

Apparently you must've had a hickup during the download, so I suggest to redownload. The files are working, a number of people have already downloaded and installed it.

Read the install instructions. You didnt unzip it. The unzipped fomod file name is "FO3 Wanderers Edition.fomod"
Either that or you renamed the .fomod.

So another hour of DL. I probably wouldn't bother if I didn't know it was going to be worth it.

I'd been waiting for v5 but got impatient and just finished setting up 4.1.1 yesterday! :biglaugh: At least I haven't done anything with my new character yet ;)

Thanks for all the work looking forward to giving it a spin.

Looks and sounds great guys, basicly I need to completely remove FWE then reinstall 5.0 with FOMM?

I like things as they are now, but later when I start a new play through I will try FWE 5.0, everything is working and running smooth and I am loving the pit! Can't wait to try the other DLC as well.
As its all running smooth and I am happy, well if it aint broke, dont fixt it!

It's nice to see that you slipped in that bullet time Jet idea that was mentioned http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1070793. I wonder how many people will use it?

I'll be looking forward to checking it out, though I'm not sure if I will, any time soon. I spent a good part of January playing only Fallout 3 while neglecting my backlog of newer games. It's on my list, though.

That's recommended, but you can also simply install 5.0 over 4.1.1 and overwrite the old files

Up to you, but upgrading to 5.0 is really smooth :)

Yeah we loved that idea a lot, so we atleast had to implement the option to have Bullet time require Jet :) (it's off by default however, needs to be turned on via the bullet time menu)

Oops sorry :toughninja: I thought FOMM would just look inside the unzipped file and do its stuff.

Unzipping it did the trick! The installer installed everything without a problem. Thanks Kai Hohiro :foodndrink:

Outstanding work on FWE 5.0, the user menu is a lot more than I had ever hoped for, thank you. I do have one question, I remember a post about you guys wanted to add something to delay the DLC messages, did that make it into FWE 5.0? I currently use Refurbish DLC http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8416 and FWE 5.0 seems to have broken the delay for Mothership Zeta and the Pitt. But if you guys did manage to get that into FWE 5.0 I wont have to use Refurbish DLC.

No it's not in 5.0
We actually had it implemented at some point, but it proved abit too unstable, too confusing for new players, bad backwards compatbility to old saves and overall just not what we wanted in the end.
We implemented Archivement Remover however to improve general Fallout stability, and that will overwrite refurbish DLC. All you need to do is move Refurbish DLC below FWE.

Yes! Finally I get to play through the entire Fallout 3 game. I see that Zumbs has been directly involved in FWE, but I assume his great lockpicking mod isn't implemented in FWE? Can I still use it if I load it later than FWE? Also I plan to use a few quest mods like The Cube, I assume there will be no problems with that or? Sorry, if my questions seems stupid, but I'd rather ask a few times and not need to come back with a messed up loadorder :)

No his lockpicking mod wasn't implemented, but you can still simply load it after FWE :)
And questmods are generally compatible with FWE.
