[RelZ] FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition #31

Post » Tue Jul 13, 2010 9:04 pm

Accuracy doesn't seem to be effected by the the condition of the weapon outside of VATs either. My character seems way to accurate to have only a 41 skill in small guns with a hunting rifle that has been repaired to only about 25%. I don't see the sway or spread like i did in FWE 4.1.1

Please- check your combat settings. Are they setted correctly? Do you begin new game with FWE 5.0 or continue from previous version?

About color mismatch.
-Project Beauty have little mismatch in colors, if used together with body replacers, this is unavoidable.
-Fallout have bug, which can be resulted in white/black NPC. To resolve this you need to make masterupdate.
Sometimes resetting your race (showracemenu in console) can help, but only for main character.

About skills/conditions and shooting
Take a look
SG=20, good/bad condition
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/1023/screenshot4js.png
SG=80, good/bad condition
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/2303/screenshot3n.png
SG=120, good/bad condition
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/6198/screenshot5ue.png
So- weapon in bad condition always acting very bad.
Weapon in good condition really take advantage from skill level.

titan357 do you get the mismatched colors ingame or just during character creation? I get a hand which is a dark tanned brown compared to my chosen paler white skin tone on the body in the Alternate Start shack. After i create my character and enter the game world i save, exit and reload once am back in the game and not the character creation area all the colors are correct.

Yea reinstalling while looking forward to the fun end result is the best way to keep ones mood cheery :D

It was getting very late, and I get up really early so I called it quits, all this was seen in megaton, did not travel anywhere else.

I am opting for a wipe and reinstall again, just to make sure.

Here is what was going on.

1) At start of game, massive red/white blocks, could only seen the name/six/face gen (could not see face). Fixed by redoing Project Beauty's Hair and Hairpack mesh/text by hand.

2) Body replacer not working, Fixed by reinstalling mesh/text by hand

3) Mika the sniper had a double, fixed by redoing load order and loosing a ESP

4) Mika the sniper has a dark head color, but a light body color, may be problem with Mika her self and not my fault, all text/mesh check by hand for her.
(not resolved) May be caused by the armor retext for type V body as they have a lower neck line, and Mika seems to have a scarf around her neck no matter what she wears, passable problem with her and not my fault.

5) FWE Missing Icons in pip boy, Triage,Headset and something else has the error file for a pic, Installed with FOMM.
(not resolved)

6)Megaton settlers, and only Megaton settlers seem to have a text/mesh problem. This is my biggest problem, I can do with out Mika, but the red/white box around those NPC's are annoying as can be.

7) no clue if the setting for MMM through FWE menu working, seems like they where at my alt start, one dog, two bloat fly, three molerats.

Unless anyone can take a stab at what I have wrong here is what I plan to do tonight.

Wipe fallout 3, remove/delete beth folder.
Install FO-3, then the DLC, then the new patch. (again lol)

Install FOSE
Install FO-3 edit.
Install FOMM.

Install FWE/WMK/MMM.
Test play for a bit.

Install other mods I am sure should go smoothly, Weather and homes, type 3 body, lighting mods, stand alone bittercup/clover.
Test.

Install type V armor replacer text/mesh, and stand alone clothes. ( this might be my problem, I only have armor meshes and no textures.) there is only a meshes file on the page for Type V armor replacer, the textures seem to be for the body only.
Test

Install Hair pack
Test

Forget I have Project beauty for the time.

Can anyone direct me to a follower mod that does not have texture issues? and that has some voice acting? Mika was annoying cause it was text only, not even a squeak from her.

Jessi, Kelsey, Brianna, Slave raider, Amy Wong (partially voiced), BitterCap

Bittercap and Brianna will have problems with PB, if PB installed.

Do not use hair styles for NPC uf you plan to use it together with PB, it is not so easy

I think I will leave P.B out for now, and maybe even the type V armor replacer.

Here are some screenshots of how good I am in Vats with a new character. Again very low skill of 21, Perception of 5 and using 10 MM submachine Gun. Tried using other weapons too and while it's not the same accuracy it's still way over the top. Tried using other presets, both vanilla, FWE and harsher and doesn't seem to have much impact.

Surely that can't be right?

I would expect that from a sniper rifle perhaps but not a submachine gun at that range. Am getting similar numbers too. Its almost as if the player is using the same modifiers as the experianced wasteland enemies.

I remembered that so many people complained that the pre-FWE5 releases nerfed VATS too much. And now with FWE5 release people complain it's too powerful.

Yes we are already aware. Mez bumped up the numbers because a lot of people complained about too low hit chances in prior versions. So naturally people have to complain about too high hit chances now :)
But yes we might reduce them again.

Ahh. Nice to hear that you know about it then. Would it be difficult to add an option so you can decide whether you want to be a crackshot or want your skill to decide whether you can hit a barn? ;)

Don't think that's something we want to add as a menu option. We'll just reevaluate the numbers. In FWE perception gives a bonus on your VATS hits chance for long distances, but the bonus might be a little to high right now.

Some of us use FWE in order to get a harder game and boosting VATS so you can hit a fly at 100 yards with a gun kind of makes it moot to increase your weapon skills. Unless you never use VATS. If you want high percentages to hit in VATS, you should need a high skill. Skills shouldn't only be used outside of VATS.

To be honest I would appreciate it if you didn't abuse the FWE thread as your personal installation support thread anymore. Please create your own topic for that.

OMG, I had great expectations for this new FWE menu on which you guys were working in the last months, but I didn't expect such a complete, well-organized and user-friendly result!
your work is really awesome: probably you will continue to develop FWE in future (even the best thing can always get better) but even if you will move to other projects this new version of FWE imho will remain one of the best products of Bethesda mod community.

many many thanks!

I believe I saw an option in the menu to see if skills decided damage, accuracy, or a mix of the two - would this be better for you?

I chose harsher wasteland from default settings and went back and verified the settings again under each menu, I did find one odd thing, option "5" was selected in carry weight, but there is only 4 options listed. As for my game I deleted my fallout 3 folder and reinstalled everything and started a new game using FEW 5.01 and the updated MMM FOIP. I got the same results, 95% hit rate in vats and I am very accurate outside of vats, with only 34 - 41 skill in small arms I can stand on one side of the Super Duper Mart parking lot and hit a raider crouched by the cars on the other side, inside VATS and outside VATS. I disabled all mods except FWE and I am still very accurate, I even tried using the harsher wastelands esp from FWE 4.1.1, but that didn't fix/help anything. Also just a FYI i have a 7 in perception.

I have tried all of those options and the option to change gun sway and bullet spread. I am not sure those options work. The gun does sway a lot UNTIL you zoom in then it doesn't sway at all. I am not sure that the options for accuracy/damage work as intended.

Have some possible bugs to report-

1. Saw some Talon Mercs walking by the gate of a water tower near the Temple Of The Union and Canterbury Commons and noticed two of em were exact copies of each other. When i reloaded the save after getting killed the twin clone was no longer there. I also noticed the same thing with a female raider at the raider base near the Regulators headquarters when starting out there with the Alternative Start option. After i killed both of them i could only find one of the female raider bodies.

2. When fighting the above mentioned Talon Mercs i tossed a bottlecap mine at their feet but all three walked right over it without setting it off even after i engaged them in combat.

3. The above mentioned Talon Company Mercs in the same spot also didnt spot me when i walked right past them when reloading my save.It was like i was invisible. This reminds me of a similar problem in the early days of FRANS and OSCURO'S OBLIVION OVERHAUL where it looked like damage didnt register and sight of line wasnt working due to invisible meshes or nifs? getting in the way as if there was an invisible wall i couldnt see.

There's always been less sway on zooming in (You zoom in -to- aim, effectively - notice if you shoot without zooming you will point more towards your target as you fire), iirc, so that's not too bad.
My level 18 character with 100 small guns has almost no sway zoomed in, and sufficiently low sway to shoot over small distances without aiming.

Oh, and a question: Do NPCs simply not get irradiated? I have brotherhood initiates swimming after mirelurks in irradiated water! If I tried to do that I'd be dead in about a minute!
(On that note, what's the noise when you sprint in water? It's almost like an explosion!)

Heh well I suppose that if we're getting ~60% chances to headshot someone with a 10mm SMG from 25 meters away with only base stats, what's going to happen when we reach level 20? 300% chance, every time you shoot three more bullets materialise out of the air?
