[RelZ] FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition #31

Post » Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:38 pm

For some reason nothing happens when I click on a pack of cigarettes. Well, it disappears from the inventory - as does a carton if I choose it.

1. You need to reopen pip-boy for new items to appear
2. Something overwrite script from FWE.

Can someone who hasn't visited Fort Indpendence yet do me a favour and visit it and see if you get a mesh error (triangle/exclamation mark) when Morgan uses her winchester energy weapon to attack the incoming raiders.

Already done, no problems
@ToJKa
I wrote of a problem with MMM was not showing up in "Supported mods configuration" menu in the previous thread. I now discovered that if i load the save game from Vault entrance they show up fine, but they do not appear with the later saves. Any ideas why this happens?
I started playing with FWE4.1 installed, it was already active when the Vault autosave was made, still that save loads and works perfectly.

That is because with Vault save you had FWE not fully activated.
Try one of this.
1. Deactivate MMM, make save, activate it again, make save. Will it help?
2. If no- restart the game, will it help?
3. If no again- deactivate FWE, make save, activate it again, make save. Will it help?
Or give me your save after leaving vault

And yet another question from me. Aint I a stinker? ;) Using Zumbs Lockpicking Mod, will the Skill Perks from books do anything in terms of hacking/lockpicking?

Can you check in your Data/meshes/projectiles folder and see if you have a file called PlasmaProjectile03 and in the same folder under textures to see if you have anything like that in there.

Yeah, better be careful with those Texture overhauls. I personally like Fallout better as it is and to me texture replacers always seem out of place. Yanno you suddenly have some objects super high res and other objects are still normal res. Totally breaks immersion in my opinion.

So in any regards I wanted to mention how baffled we were how fast you guys managed to fill up our last thread :)
Max post count in just about two days!

So I'd like to talk abit about the development here...
We put a lot of work into FWE 5, of course I dont need to tell you that. But to put things a bit into perspective:
Mart's Mutant Mod probably comes in second to FWE in terms of script code, it has about 8.000 lines of script.
FWE has more than 25.000 lines of script code.

Anyone who's modded for Fallout3 will know that's quite an absurdly large number. There is no FO3 mod that comes close to FWE in terms of pure script code. And that's only stuff that is happening in the background and is mostly invisible to the player.

We've worked hundreds of hours on FWE, since we have full time jobs, family, etc, that resulted in very little sleep :). I think the last few months I slept maybe 3-4 hours every night during the week.
But seeing how many people are enjoying FWE now, I would say it was totally worth it.

Now we dont get paid for this, nor do we give a rat's ass about the download numbers. But what we really really love, is whenever a player posts a cool story of something that he did or happened while he was playing FWE, that's what makes me personally smile the most.

So, thank you all for playing FWE and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.

Yes usually i stay away from the ultra 20000??? x resolution texture mods because am worried it might not only slow things down ingame but also make my video card explode along while melting my monitor into a ghosting blurr. I agree with you the texture work on FALLOUT 3 is stunning. Adds power and sixiness in all the right spots. Now the citizens of Bethesda games are as real looking as the world and monsters have always been :D I took your advice though and removed some of the textures and reinstalled FWE last since i noticed MARTIGEN'S MONSTER MOD and EVE were overwriting textures and wanted to make sure i had the FWE "look" ingame. Restarted with an old save and no problems thus far and i ended up with a pretty good looking random female character after removing a too shiny hair mod :twirl: I definitely have noticed silky smooth framerates.

Those raiders are amazing. You have totally let them loose on the world. I was fighting a group outside of Springfield High School and i was astonished with joy when i saw them following me outside their usual acttack area into the derelict buildings near the school sign. Their tactics were like something of what i imagine CALL OF DUTY or RAINBOW SIX might be since i dont play those games i wouldnt really know. They were running behind buildings using cover while others distracted me with frontal charges. When i started retreating to higher ground behind the buildings the other raiders were already their shooting at me behind some half gone wall or jumping out of nowhere with a tire iron :D ha ha.

Even when i died i felt i won thanks to all the fun i just had :tops:

FWE has more than 25.000 lines of script code.

Wow John Carmack would be proud :trophy: :foodndrink: :trophy:

Thank you all for the sacrifice in countless ways you put into making FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition a reality. Its times like this the words just start going blank in my mind in awe and childlike appreciation :ahhh: or maybe the words just get stuck in my throat-

Reactivating FWE did it, i now have all the options available. Thanks for the help :goodjob:

5x feral ghoul rampage? Sounds ...unhealthy :D

I did lose my Desert Eagle and all drugs in the process  Oh well, i just need to go hunt some raiders.

I thought that was pretty cool :P
If I give Jericho a packet would he know how to open it himself? Not that it really matters, he's a non-smoker at the moment as we are all wearing power armor. I can't wear my sixy leather armor anymore. I may as well be wearing just my underpants for the protection that gives me

I dont know if Jericho or any companions etc would open and smoke a pack of cigerettes since am usually a loner but that will probably change from what i've seen  Heard some pretty funny conversation between Jericho and Jenny in Megaton. I also have been hearing different spoken dialogue which i have not heard before. One more spellbound touch in the infinite sea of life that is FALLOUT 3 FWE.

So wow.

I spent some time yesterday (today for me) reinstalling so that I could upgrade to 5.01 from 4.11. Also added Project Beauty and Craft helper.

Loaded the game up and waited the 8 days. Configured the options to the best of my ability to match what the esp options had given before. But it doesn't match - my level shows as -8 as in the http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo54/psymon11b/ScreenShot8-2.jpg. (look close the meter is off the chart to the left) I assume the settings cost me a level?

It played fine in fact really really great for a short time. I even activated the motorcycle (never used it before). Now it is a crashing mess. I can't fast travel even with the motorcycle deactivated (I do need to return to save prior to motorcycle activation and test). So as usual I hate updating - never seems to go smooth for me. And I really don't like the idea of yet another new game start. The game was playing pretty good except for some menu glitchiness (freezing at main menu occasionally) - now it is a crash in every direction.

In fact of the 3 bethesda games only morrowind is not giving me grief right now. Not happy.

Yes I know about BOSS-F.

I wil say this the crashes are transition crashes. Never really experienced them before with Fallout3 - in fact I'm very used to it with Oblivion and corrupted spawn points (FCOM land), but not F3. I cannot seem to travel far in any direction.

I know what I have to do - tear my load order apart. Already started doing that.

All that was changed was update FWE, Add project Beauty and Craft Helper - doubtful it is craft helper but will remove to see. maybe project beauty has corrupted mesh or missing resource that when an NPC with a hair is supposed to appear it doesn't and boom. Maybe it is the new spawn controls with FWE-MMM FOIP. Maybe it is a leveling issue in that what I'm doing is a skill gain and that is throwing errors due to conflicts with save game info. I don't know.

Kinda getting burnt out on Bethesda games and these issues.

Do this crashes occur during save game?
You have UF3P-BS and Arefu expanded, do you make masterupdate? Without it you will have hell of the crashes

It seems you choose different XP bump base in comparison with your previous installation.
Try to choose different settings in the character/experience section of FWE Config Table
Keep in mind- change in settings will be reflected only after some killing (or another XP gaining)
If you will use your current XP settings, DUI meter will be corrected with time, when you will have enough XP

Is that recommended over using the premade Mez's Merged Patch 5-0 - DLC-FWE-WMK-MMM.esp?

Is masterupdating generally recommended - or does it depend on which mods you're using?

I've noticed that the game is more unstable with my FWE setup. It certainly depends a lot on my old rig which strains even with vanilla, but if the above might help I'll definitely try it.

Questions and two strange stories.

FWE/MMM/WMK

Clocked almost 40 hours on the 4.1 FWE, and have yet to touch point lookout and the MQ, and I am at level 17.

1) What weapons count as sniper rifles? I have the perk that says you do 50% more damage with a sniper when not in vats.

2) Level 30 balance /high skills, handled with FWE in game menu?

3) my save games, can I make a folder and cut/paste them to a back up and to clean things up when I am done playing with that toon?

4) supermuants and some NPC'S seem to be super accurate with miniguns, like a stream of death, can a PC reach that level of accuracy? S.M's seem to be able to put just about every round with in 1/2 foot of where they are aiming!

5) I see no reason to NOT use power armor unless you are a sneaky person, but thats OK cause before FWE there was no reason TO wear it. Kinda a pain to keep my T-51 Winter P/A in top shape, but the DR and benefits of it outweigh the loud sounds it makes that not even a stealth boy can hide you (with low sneak) plus it looks B/A!
It also seems that other types of armor would be good for more special type character.

I seem to have a problem with wanting to Wear the Power armor all the time, even though the winter combat armor looks killer, as well as some of the FWE added armor and DLC armor.

I like the filtration helm a lot.

Maybe after I play this current guy out, and then my bug guns guy out I will try not wearing Power armor and using energy weapons, cause I have never used them.

6) while not related to FWE the tin cans to scrap metal converter works very well, use the scrap for supply's from outcasts OR turn in at M/T water plant for caps and XP!!

7) I remember in Vanilla that a Big guns user was pretty much gimped (imo) how well are they with FWE?
7A) Energy weapons?
7B) ammo supply? I have like 2K rounds of 5MM for a mini gun and around 1,200 flamer fuel but I never use them, I suspect that ammo goes quick when you are using big guns. Seems like outcasts would be a good way to get ammo.

8) how are some of you all doing with FWE and MMM while playing a sneaking type person? weight limit (not went to 5.0 yet) was rather limited even with 9-STR and power armor.
8A) I am guessing that with a high sneak skill and a good weapon you could pile up the S.A.Critical shots, but what happens when you get in a pinch?

9) neat places to go, just went to the N.G.A for the first time, never been to a lot of the places in the wasteland, what are some neat places to go?

10) I hated pre 5.0 FWE's primary needs, the setting where confusing to me and I always thought you had to eat way to much, to the point that I was hauling 5-10Lbs of food and 1-5Lbs of water around.

Thats all the questions I have for the moment, if I come across anything else Ill ask.

Well I was going to rivet city and I had all the traders paid up for and maxed, once I got close I seen a super mutant behemoth at the little water fixing place of the main quest, I cleared out all the normal super mutant's but left it alone.

Once I cleared the area and save some captivate I made it to rivet city and sold my stuff to Lucky, and went in the city.
After I came back out and was done, I went to sell some more junk to him I had left over.
The talon merc's where waiting at the local metro station and Lucky and his 4 guards (2 miniguns, 1 sniper, 1 auto shotty) ran off to kill them, one guard died (shotgun guard) but we fought off the 7 or so merc's :gun: and I looted and drained Lucky of his caps and things I wanted. :woot:

He calmly walks back to where the traders normally stand.
Then he ups and starts running off AT the super mutant behemoth!!
I was LIKE OH NOES!!!!! :banghead:
I am all like *** are you doing?!!!

So I sprint after him and his two remaining guards, the sniper guard starts pot shotting the super mutant behemoth, but its not really hurting it, then Lucky and his other guard let loose with both mini guns :nuke: so I got out a Mini gun I had kept (to kill this thing my self) and the sound of three mini guns and a sniper rifle where (great on my home theater) blasting away and finally it fell before it got close enough to hit anyone!

----

Other story.

I was going some where, I think I had just came out of the tunnels where you are sent on the mole rat stick killing quest, normally there are Talon mercs and super mutant's there but they never attacked each other w/o FWE. Well I was hiding at the exit of the tunnels and I hear massive gun fire!

the mercs where shooting at the S.M'S! it was a huge battle, the mercs where taking cover against the building and leaning out and shooting, and some where covering the door and there back (8 or so merc's) while the S.M's where blasting away and they where starting to kill the merc's off so I started taking pot shots at them to save Talon merc', even though they wanted to kill me we had bigger problems, much bigger!

we had one 1-2 of them left when yet again a super mutant behemoth come charging into the fray! by that time there was only 4 talon merc's left and one of them charged the super mutant behemoth and died, the other three took cover in a the bombed out building killing the last normal S.M.
We the super mutant behemoth finally killed them, but I had climbed to the top of the building, ans was shooting the super mutant behemoth in the head with my missile launcher provided by a dead mutant!

====

The way to the outcast base for O:A was neat, there was a huge fight between the mutants and a lot of outcasts!

===
Then I followed a outcast patrol down a road into a massive group of raiders, 4 outcasts 3 plasma rifles, one mini gun and one protectron + me against 15 or so raiders, mostly small guns one "medical man?" and one names mob not far from Arfu, at some burnt out inn.

Good looting!

Edit

what is, Project Beauty and Craft helper?

and what body mods/replaces are others using with no problems?

I also seem to have a MASSIVE stash of weapons and armor, I am a pack rat I guess, I got one of almost every gun I have come across, as well as fist/melee weapons, same for armor and ammo.

IDK why I am keeping them, but I do have them, and like 23K caps too!

No, Mez's Merged Patch is better, but if you have problems and sure this problems arise from Mez's Merged Patch, then you can try to create your own merged patch.

Is masterupdating generally recommended - or does it depend on which mods you're using?
I've noticed that the game is more unstable with my FWE setup. It certainly depends a lot on my old rig which strains even with vanilla, but if the above might help I'll definitely try it.

I doubt your problems directly connected to FWE, new version don't add anything which can produce such issues. But on unstable systems (by the opinion of the game) each move can produce additional difficulties. When I talk about an unstable systemы, I mean multi-core processors. There are a lot of recommendations to improve stability on such systems- ini tweaking, multicore limitations and so on.
Masterupdate can be a big help in some situations, but it can conflict with some mods, so you must choose yourself, depending from your load order and experience.
-Unofficial patch (BS component) can create many crashes during Save Game after transitions, especially in RC area and Guard Depot
-Some quest mods (including Arefu Expanded and Return to Shady Sands) will have navmesh problems for your followers.
-Some NPC can have white heads on black bodies
-Phalanx mod also will have problems with navmesh in Camp Sites
All this problems will be resolved after masterupdate.
If you use Fallout 3 ver 1.6 or 1.7- you will be able to perform masterrestore if something will wrong, masterupdate- reverted procedure.

Yes, I doubt that as well. I think it's mainly the larger spawns that pushes my rig over the edge at times.

Yes
3) my save games, can I make a folder and cut/paste them to a back up and to clean things up when I am done playing with that toon?

I don't understand you. Yes, you can backup your saves and use it later with FWE or without it

You are correct :)
PA good for defence, but not for sneaky character
7) I remember in Vanilla that a Big guns user was pretty much gimped (imo) how well are they with FWE?

Pretty good, if you have many bullets in your pocket
7A) Energy weapons?

The same, especially with EVE
7B) ammo supply? I have like 2K rounds of 5MM for a mini gun and around 1,200 flamer fuel but I never use them, I suspect that ammo goes quick when you are using big guns. Seems like outcasts would be a good way to get ammo.

See answer to question 7, you are right in both ways
8) how are some of you all doing with FWE and MMM while playing a sneaking type person? weight limit (not went to 5.0 yet) was rather limited even with 9-STR and power armor.

It is hard, but funny. Melee sneaker also funny, but you will need some perks and stealth-boys. Weight limit can be awoided if you use alternative travel. And it is customizable now
8A) I am guessing that with a high sneak skill and a good weapon you could pile up the S.A.Critical shots, but what happens when you get in a pinch?

Again don't understand :) You mean- what will be if you will be discovered? You will be killed

10) I hated pre 5.0 FWE's primary needs, the setting where confusing to me and I always thought you had to eat way to much, to the point that I was hauling 5-10Lbs of food and 1-5Lbs of water around.

Now it's settings not so harsh.

I meant can I take all my saves and put them in a folder else where and store them like that? that way they do not show up in the load/save menu?

On sneaking, I was trying to say, what happens when you get found and the stuff hits the fan?
Normally with my small guns guy I can kill from a distance, and if I get in a pinch I can fight my way out, Power armor DR plus a assault rifle.

I really want to play through at least one more time, to see the other side of the quests, and try out a new build. Right now I am small guns / barter / repair with a high sci/med skill. speech as well as lock pick are also pretty high too. I may try big guns / repair / explosives next.
that leaves a Sneak / energy weapons / lock pick play.

I'm using FO3 Wanderers Edition - Followers Enhanced (BrokenSteel).esp and have Dogmeat as a follower.

Can't say anything about followers, I don't use this component. May be Kai will answer to you

Hey devs - thank you from the bottom of my heart for wonderful mod! Just became level 4 and built my character according to Titan's recommendations.
I've read that unofficial patch is causing a great deal of problems to the mod. Can I simply uncheck the unofficial patch in fomm to not play with it or is uninstall of the patch needed (maybeafter uninstallation I need to install the mod/s anew??)?
