[RelZ] FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition #32

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 11:35 pm

When playing Bethesda games my chars are always obnoxiously good. So was my two previous F3 chars as well, giving away Pure Water to Beggars, saying no to monetary rewards for quests etc. Basically, they are saint like idiots. But with my first FWE char I've noticed how her behavior has changed. Why should she give away water to a lazy bum just sitting around? She only has a couple of bottles and might very well need them herself. Why say no to caps? She could use them on items that might save her life. So FWE has turned her into an egoistical scavenger roaming around the Wastelands trying to survive. And I love it. FWE basically turns F3 into what it was supposed to be.

I actually FINISHED the main quest yesterday, WOOT! :gun: I still haven?t finished Oblivion?s main quest! Tells how pleasant it has been just PLAY this game with FWE. :)

Heh, and you know what? To my amazement, I got it rubbed in my face how EVIL I had been. I didn?t even realize it. I?m always the good guy! :o

But I had to admit, a few times I was too desperate for supplies I murdered every traveler and scavenger I saw, I sneaked to steal supplies from that chem selling couple in Rivet City, and murdered them in cold blood when they catched me, with silenced p90c.

Come the moment of judgement, I had been VERY EVIL in the end. I blame it all on FWE. :P

I just installed this for the first time and I'm dying a lot. That makes it awesome! :celebration:

Seriously, I found the game too easy before. Thanks.

Right....

I've just started to download FWE....and I'm SCARED AS HELL!!!!
I've heard storied about how much harder this makes the game...and well, after facing off against hordes of Deathclaws at the Deathclaw Sanctuary, I'm worried...I'm not sure if I'm gonna make it or not :P

Meh, it's not that difficult. I just ran a character focusing on Big Guns straight to Galaxy News Radio from the Vault (with increased spawns and 2x ghoul rampage, though i did cheat by using a lot of VATS with 50% damage). There was a lot dying and swearing but it was far from impossible. Now i have T-45d, L-86, a missile launcher and a Fat Man with 5 mini-nukes at level 5. Not bad starting gear :D

Hey, I was still running around with wasteland wanderer gear and a 10mm pistol with a few spare rounds at level 5 :P

Add a M-60 and a flamethrower the arsenal, but getting out of DC is proving to be much more difficult than getting in, i actually WERE killed by a pool cue wielding raider while i had flamethrower and a power armor :lmao:

Hmm...I've seen some people using FWE with a changed interface, and having their needs displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen...
But the version that I've just downloaded (5.0) doesn't seem to have this?

How do I activate it?

Here's a video of what I mean.
Its not up all the time, but every so often something pops up in the upper right saying about Rads, and Health and Hunger etc.
Plus the interface is different...not sure if this is a different mod though :)

Oh dear....Oh dear, oh dear oh dear!!!

I got stuck outside the Super Duper Mart for AGES! And it was just 2 raiders! One had an Inferior 10mm Pistol....and the other had a FN FAL!

I kept taking down the guy with the Pistol, but as soon as the other guy saw me BLAM! I'd be dead. Damn that powerful gun. Luckily, after like half an hour I decided to try and sneak the other way round the building, bringing me closer to them, exposing me to more danger, but giving me an easier shot on the Raider with the FAL. Well, just as I was aiming at his head with my Inferior Hunting Rifle (I'm only level 3 this time through btw) an Enclave Eyebot opens fire on them. Seeing my opportunity I switch to my Assault Rifle (LS) and open fire on both of them. The guy with the FAL blew up the Eyebot, and turned to open fire at me. Luckily I got the last few bullets into him before he could pull the trigger. I turn to the other guy, hit V, go into VATS and unload the rest of my magazine into his stomach.

After that I picked up the FAL, and stormed the Super Duper Mart. The Raiders didn't stand a chance.....until I ran out of Ammunition :)
My GOD! I didn't realise how intense this mod made the game, I so wish I'd downloaded it sooner :)

I take my hat off to everyone that worked on it....well, if I had a hat...

hmm, I made a big guns guy, and worked my way to a flamer and P/A by level 3 or 4 (outcasts tech turn in). I was melting ghouls easy, then I finally got hold of a mini gun, been in love ever since.

my guy was built high STR/END so I have lots of HP, and carry weight. both my followers (bittercup and Mika) are in P/A and use hunting rifles to avoid wasting ammo.

Its kinda neat with +spawns and 5X ghoul rampage to go tunnel diving.
Normally I let my followers go first then I step out and light em up with my big guns.

I went on a exploration kick, started at gray ditch, went form there to just about every location on the East part of the DC ruins besides the BOS base.
Forgot falls church was even a place, found the meat plant, and the grave yard. All the tunnels and the comics place.

I normally explore every place I can, but I had to cut and run after I cleared the tunnels all the way from the west to the east, through the potamic tunnel and into metro central. I made it to Gorge town and cleared it out, then up north, and just could not stand any more tunnels, stopped by exiting the north most metro on the east DC side (next to the N.G armory) explored to the N.G.A, then north to vault 108 (also a first) and the corvega factory (first as well) and finished with C.C and quit for the day.

Anyway a few questions.

1) followers weapons/armor never seem to degrade? I don;t mind just wondering.
2) The outcasts guy wont take any P/A from me, the T-45, outcasts or even Brotherhood and Mark II.

Some Feedback, only minor things.

Triage:

The free perks option should not give the full wasteland doctor and surgeon perks with combat benefits. If you choose that option you should get 2 different perks that only grant the healing ability.

Perks:

"Here and Now"
The readme states that it is set to lvl. 19. But in my game it is still a lvl 10 perk.

"Puppies!"
This perk is useless with an essential dogmeat.

"Deep Sleep"
Useless with primary needs.

"Cyborg" and "Big Guns"

If you want to make a character specialized on these weapons you should not tag these skills.

example:
Starting with INT 8: 24 points in Energy weapons + Cyborg rank 5 = 74 points. So tagging this skill would have been a waste, because you won't benefit much from the +2 increase as you only have to invest 26 points to get to 100 (21 if you find the bobblehead). Its better to tag science instead to get the requirement for the Cyborg perk. This makes tagging Energy weapons kind of useless.

Otherwise I am having a great time with FWE. Every single change feels well thought out and balanced.
Keep up the good work.

PS: Is there any reason why MMM Hunting and Looting is turned off by default? Does it cause any bugs?

well you do things backwards of me.

I tag my weapon skill I want to use to raise it ASAP instead of waiting 5 levels, I instead choose something like this

Big guns
Repair (I always tag repair)
Barter (I tag this a lot too!)

Perks
Daddy's boy/girl X5 get my SCI/MED up to at least 50+
Then I go with Advance P/A training, strong back X2, here and now.

Anyway to answer the question, I been using Hunting and looting for the past 30+ hours of game time with no problems.

What do you mean- combat benefits? Wasteland Doctor don't allow to restore broken head and torso, is this not so?

As I know this is intentional. Another way to quickly raise your stats in exchange for additional perks.

He means the crit and damage bonuses you receive from the perks.

Not really any bugs I would be aware of, however the behaviour this can cause might not be everybodies cup of tea.

yeah it it results in a raider grabbing that freshly killed dudes P/A and mini gun and going to town, or your follower looting thing you do not want them to have.

I continued my Energy Weapons character, and between A3-21's Plasma Rifle and Drifter's Laser Rifle, i can find no reason to carry the Gauss Rifle around anymore. In vanilla Fallout 3 it really was the only EW sniper rifle, but now both of those do better job in it. Also i absolutely love the fully upgraded Wattz 2000 laser rifle, more like a laser LMG, cuts trough super mutants like a hot knife trough butter. Added the traditional Final Fantasy 13 gunsword's EW version, and my tesla tank is fully equipped (except tesla armor and tesla cannon :D).

BTW, i noticed that if you activate bullet time and quickload immediatly after it, you are in bullet time permanently, though activating bullet time again ends it. I take it this is not intentional? (or maybe just my install acting up again?)

I always use the skill perks on secondary skills. I will usually get the full 5 levels of Daddy's Boy/Girl or Thief before lvl 10.

Wasteland mastery gives you benefits for leveling skills above 100 by the way. My Big Guns character has something like 120 in it now.

Maybe if the free perks for Triage came at higher medicine skills, like 50/80, instead of what the actual perk requirements are so there's a bit more of an investement needed where you could have applied those points to a weapons skill instead. I like the free perk option for Triage, though, and I think it's implimented well.

This is only one of the reasons (not too important) to not use Quick load feature AT ALL :)

Not an option, if i don't have a quickload, i'll be going trough 3 keyboards and 2 screens a week :D That's not a big problem anyway, i rarely use bullet time. Speaking of, i wonder if my Max Payne discs are still intact..

Oh yes, the Bozar  I only wish there was another special sniper rifle in the small guns class apart from Victory Rifle, it kicks ass and looks good doing it, but i fear it won't be enough against higher level enemies.
