Starcraft is a solid and well balanced game for the competitive gaming scene, but to try and compare it to an open world rpg is just stupid. They are totally different genres so how can you compare them? I agree with you guys though. The gaming scene has gone so far downhill in the past decade..

We need everyone to vote. It's still early in the voting process but the sooner everyone votes the better. TES needs to win all. I've even put it in my sig to make sure everyone knows about the vote. Also, if TES winning isn't a big enough motivator, when you vote in the contest, you are entered into a drawing to win a 3D TV. Go go go!



It's not about genre. They are comparing which is a better franchise. Meaning the overall quality of each game in the franchise, the story, the gameplay, everything. Starcraft is great and all but frankly, I think Diablo should have been on the list instead of Starcraft.

i dont know if you realize it but Assassin's creed is also winning against call of duty big time with 61% of popular vote. Just accept peoples oppinions stop crying about it

Gaming is the same imo. The only difference is that FPSs have become even larger of the player base than it was before, where RTSs and RPGs were a very large part of the gaming community and now RTS players are an endangered species and RPGs are still very big but not reigning supreme anymore. I don't see anything wrong with gaming, it's fine to me. When RPGs start to die out, that's when we need to worry. However, I mean seriously.....Gears beat Final Fantasy....how? Uggh and Final Fantasy was winning last time I checked. At least we can get TES to win if everyone on these forums votes for TES over Starcraft. Starcraft is a great game and I'm in platinum league but TES is still better!

Also, AC definitely deserved to win the first round, though I disagree with the Gears over FF and Mortal Kombat over Metroid but what can ya do?

I've voted on this. Unfortunately, BioWare recently knocked out Bethesda in a similar tourney on Escapist, which makes it all taste sour in my mouth. It's just a battle of fan boys, not quality.

But yeah, TES should win all of these. The only remaining fantasy IP that doesn't svck ass.

But that's assuming that AC beats Fallout and Mass Effect beats TES.

Why it a stupid contest? A contest is a contest, might as well try to win it. I think too many people misinterpret what the competition is supposed to be. It's not comparing genre or individual games, it's comparing franchises, meaning that which one has the best overall quality story, gameplay and so on. Too many people are too busy saying "This is an RTS so you can't compare it to an RPG" yet you can, because it's about which one gave you more entertainment value, which can be compared.

Yeah....totally. :rolleyes: That's why Assassin's Creed is blowing COD out of the water.......Mass Effect is beating boring Mortal Kombat.......Resident Evil will own Pac-Man.......And God of War and TES will probably edge out stupid GTA and the more respectable Starcraft. Hopefully Uncharted will beat WoW. As for Halo and Zelda, who cares? Edit: Also, between Fallout and Gears? It doesn't matter, AC will beat either. Even though Gears deserved a better showing....novels, anyone?

I'm pretty sure those results are showing gamers value story quality and good gameplay over simple shooters and kid games.

Say what? Halo had a great story and Zelda...well Zelda is self explanatory why people should care, except it's starting to wear on my nerves that Ganondorf is always the villain still. I understood why he was the villain in all the NES games but now it's just getting ridiculous that he gets killed or turned into a statue at the end of every game and comes back to life some how in the future. My favorite Zelda game was Majora's mask. I'd like to see the return of Majora instead of Ganondorf, Majora is so much cooler. (Tied with Ganon from Ocarina of Time though imo)

This competition is so stupid... They are making people vote between two completely different games half the time. Starcraft is an RTS, TES is an open world RPG. No the same at all, you cannot compare them. It's 'which game has the bigger voting portion fanbase'; Which does not make it a better game...

Lol, that's ironic that you didn't get why I said that. I did enjoy the Halo story, and I've read/own almost all the novels. As for Zelda, idk. Didn't play. I just think it doesn't matter because neither of them hold a candle to any of the major players in that bracket.

On a side note; Gears of War beat Final Fantasy? Wtf? I'll accept that the FF franchise isn't what it used to be but c'mon...

Wow. I've never even heard of Starcraft. And people say it takes more skill, when they've obviously never played an ES game before. I can't believe Starcraft has that many votes. RTS requires strategy, sure. But RPG's require intelligence, and trust me, having one of those does not mean you have both.

I hope Fallout v TES for the finals.

Just voted. Awesome that TES is winning against a franchise that just had a major release last year. If skyrim were already released and fresh in gamers minds this would be a landslide, but to see it doing this well 5 years since an installment this is awesome!!
