gamasutra f3 worst game

Gamasutra has a page by someone from NMA saying fallout 3 is the worst game. Even though fallout 3 is one of my favorite games, that doesn't bother me. What does is the reasons he gave. They are easy to understand if you know the story and characters of fallout 3. That always bugs me. People complain that games are aiming for casual gamers and are too simple. But then games like fallout 3 and modern warfare 2 don't hold your hand for every detail and then the story svcks. But that's not the point of this topic. I will go through each of his points and answer them. Not because I expect the author to ready this and change his mind. But hopefully this will clear some things up and remain close to what Bethesda was actually going for.

1. Three dog is a radio host/DJ that broadcasts music and news. To get said news he needs to know things going on. Things that could help dad with project purity. Such as were a GECK may be. Or to ask if the brotherhood could help him. They have access to technology that could either purify water, or make sure he doesn't become the next torso launched from your rock it launcher.

2. He is a scientist. Scientists take notes of their findings and ideas. It helps with the process of learning. If you don't remember what experiments you have done and what the results were then you wont make progress.

3. The super mutants may have arrived while he was there. So he either left through the sewer that you take to get to the citadel, or the tunnel where the enclave are first shown flying in. So he gets done doing his thing then starts to leave. On his way out he sees super mutants. Super mutants see him. Awkward stare down. Then dad runs away while they attempt to eat him. He escapes and the super mutants set up thinking the place is active with people. So they lay in wait.

4. Dr. Braun seems to be the kind of Guy that doesn't care much for others. So he probably did one of two things.
1. He gave the GECK away. So some other vault or who ever got it could restart humanity. He gets to live in his simulation until then and doesn't have to deal with any of the pesky annoyances that come from a global nuclear war.
2. He didn't care about the GECK. The GECK was something that had to be worked on. You use it, then rebuild. The simulation was immediate. He could do anything to anyone any time he wanted. He became a God in his own world that he could change to his will. And he could do this for an indefinite amount of time. So work on GECK life till he dies. Or live forever in his dream world.

5. None of the games, fallout 1-3 doesn't say what the GECK does. It could be a faucet filter. And the GECK doesn't kill anyone. Its the radiation. Some of it is leaking in when you get to the control panel. Then you put the code in and use whatever is in the GECK and project purity turns on. Releasing a ton of radiation that nearly kills you and Lyons. And its the same radiation that nearly kills autumn, and does kill the rest of his team, and dad.

6. The super mutants are creating them. For the same reason every creature reproduces. Preservation of the species. You don't want your own kind to cease to exist. And the experiments weren't viewed as "sick
and twisted". They were just ordinary experiments. Then things went wrong and the mutants took over. The radiation probably wasn't there at first. It was either a part of the great war or because of the FEV.

7. I don't recall anything about going to Jefferson memorial to find the GECK. I only remember going there to start project purity. And the odd jobs was to help restart project purity. So they could help save humanity.

8. Dad may have already asked for help. But they denied him. Then the enclave took it. And them having control over all the water could be bad for everyone. Including the brotherhood. So they step in and save the day.

9. One person in the group is a fighter. The rest are scientists. They couldn't fight. And the size of the occupying enclave force could be huge. Trying to take them on with a single person is ill advised.

10. The grenade was enclave tech. Since the didn't appear till recently its understandable that it would be excluded as a weapon. Holt probably talked about project purity with Lee. It was a major thing that could change the world. You don't just never mention it again.

11. The enclave are going to kill all people. So once you give him the password you become useless. And will die anyways from the FEV. So you couldn't do much else for them if your dead from poisoning.

12. Eden helps because he doesn't trust autumn. So he wants to use you to do his work in autumn's place. And the enclave use robots. They just don't like impure life. And autumn is the only person aside from the player to know about it.

13. Autumn has lived with them. Trained them. Been them. And now, deployed with them. Chances are they trust him far more than the trust the president. Whom they have never spent a day with.

14. The enclave is anti impure life. They want all mutations, no matter how mutated, gone. So they will kill everyone. Brahmins aren't common enough to supply everyone with enough milk to get rid of radiation. Water would need to be the main source. And you would likely not notice the water that much. People die from drinking water and its normal. The heavier the mutation the more it effects them probably. So they wouldnt have as much time to react. And yes, its called FEV. But it's modified. Much like the flu, which changes every year, there are different FEV's.

15. The same can be done to the master in fallout 1. And autumn may be out ranked. But he is the one doing these things. Eden just sits there incapable of doing anything. So he isn't much of a problem.

16. Don't want to blow it up? Then don't! Its optional. Also, they want to kill everyone, not cure them. So the destruction of their base is likely necessary.

17. The enclave are racist people. Autumn may have wanted to do things differently, nut the brotherhood didn't know that. To the brotherhood he is just a enemy. And he still opposes the brotherhoods views. So the enclave had to go.

18. Again, enclave and brotherhood are on opposing sides. Enclave wants to lead. Brotherhood wants to lead. Both can't lead together. So they fight eachother.

19. Tanks have been around since world war 1. They are scary. But giant walking robot that throws nuclear bombs scary... not even close. Liberty prime doesn't distinguish between American or not. Its probably something it detects in the armor. Which the brotherhood use power armor made before the great war. Enclave do not.

20. The radiation getting to you is already lowered. Then you activate project purity. It starts to take the radiation and force it out. Before it was just sitting inside. So you release it and all the radiation that has built up since project purity was made comes spooring out all at once. Water goes in irradiated. Gets purified from project purity. The radiation that was in the water leaks into the large room that dad and autumn was in. And then that gets vented out or whatever. The controls are sepperate crime that area so people can maintain it without glowing.
