D.C Gambit

Post » Sat Feb 12, 2011 12:03 am

The year is 2288 and the place is the Capital Wasteland. Due to the Lone Wanderer's help, the Capital Wasteland is the first place to have all the luxuries of Pre-War societies. It comes usually in the form of radiation free water and food but television and electricity are also in every city, big or small. Merely 11 years after Project Purity, the humans of the Wasteland have seen massive increase in life due to the lack of radiation.

But the major factions are the Raptors from Evergreen Mills, sporting very high tech technology in a more tribal way. Brotherhood, the reigning government of the Wasteland, and the Caravan Union, a union of caravans based in the new Canturberry Commons with an enigmatic leader, Kino Manchester.

Major Locations

Megaton: Now with the bomb in the center of town disabled, the town of Megaton underwent a massive expansion in all directions. They didn't specialize in anything but was a very important outpost for caravans going and coming from D.C. Especially the water caravans who needed to make rounds in the western portion of the Capital Wasteland. With it came casinos all owned by Moriarty and his new apprentice, Issac. The biggest and most powerful casino being, "The Marksmen." Houses were torn down to make way for very large hotels. The plane parts were all traded to them by Rivet City, who had no need for such things anymore.

Rivet City: With the Tidal Basin full of clean water, Rivet City obviously had only one thing to do in this new union. They managed nearly everything about the water caravans except for the military. With that new found money coming and the Brotherhood seeing this city as the most important, Rivet City grew in terms of wealth and living status. The citizens were all very well fed and the Rivet City Council became the head of all trading affairs in the Capital Wasteland. The head Chancellor even got a seat on the Brotherhood council.

Vault 101/Vault City: Now that Vault 101 had opened, it has become an important part of Megaton's economy as it keeps the casinos and hotels running with it's newly created Nuclear Power generator made by Moira Brown and the Brotherhood. Not only that, it also provides all the medical supplies for all the Capital Wasteland, cranking out Stimpaks and other general medical equipment like crazy. Amata rules over this giant factory with a kind heart, which makes it very vulnerable to raider attacks. The Lone Wanderer also lives here with Amata, but both people are never seen by the public.

The Citadel: The Citadel hasn't expanded but has changed drastically. Now hailed as the new Capitol Building, the Elder Council meets here once a year. The Council consists of the Brotherhood of Steel Elder(the "President"), The Head Scribe(Technology Adviser), The Rivet City Chancellor(Caravan affairs), Harden Simms(Trading), and a representative of Vault 101. Controls the Capital Wasteland military police, which are Brotherhood Knights.

Canterbury Commons: The largest trading city in the North and the base of the Caravan Union. Uncle Roe was executed and Kino controls this large city. Its main plaza is in the middle where the old commons used to exist. The new area has a radius that reaches the Temple of the Union. It, like many other cities, have electricity that is powered by a single nuclear generator bought from Vault 101. In the very heart of Canterbury lies the Union Tower, a massive tower that Kino, his family, and the other union leaders live in.

Evergreen Mills: The Raider Crater is now organized into one of the largest terrorist organizations in the Capital Wasteland. Hated by most, the raiders here are equipped with Commonwealth Technology, rivaling Brotherhood Technologies. Wanting freedom without the Brotherhood, the raiders here do occasional bombings using the Fat Man and missile launchers to Brotherhood designated Settlements. The raiders here call themselves, "The Raptors."

Armageddon: The site for the first battle between the Brotherhood and Raptors. Took place in the MALL and all of D.C is blanketed by an eerie sight of blood, bodies, and bullets strewn across the mall.

Plot & Major Factions

The Brotherhood keeps a very lenient grip on the Capital Wasteland, overseeing it as a mild dictatorship. The citizens have freedom but must listen to the Brotherhood. On the West, the Raptors wish to see the government eliminated to open up anarchy, like 11 years before. In the middle is the most important trading center, even more so than Megaton. Canterbury Commons, resides in the middle of the conflict and his enigmatic leader, Kino, wishes to take D.C for himself to make the largest trading and capitalistic civilization known to man.

Factions
Raptors: A radical terrorist group of raiders, tribals, and citizens with similar ideals. They have no religion or belief system other than their golden rule. The Brotherhood must be killed. But they have advanced technology and weaponry, even to the point of Brotherhood of Steel level energy weaponry.

Brotherhood of Steel: Now that the East Coast Brotherhood is no longer an elitist group and now a military force, it accepts help from anybody so long as they are fit to be a scribe or soldier. The Brotherhood on the East Coast is prospering and was able to rebuild Liberty Prime, their trump card during the battle for the Jefferson Memorial.

Caravan Union: The sole employment company for Caravans. They hire anybody so long as they can walk long distances and can kill. The head of the Caravan Union, Kino "Al" Manchester, wishes to see a truly free market. At least that is what they say.

Luke-

The Open Windows Caravan just lost three brahmin and a ton of goods and employees. Only got a few brahmin left- might be a good investment, after all you've been through, I'd say you need some new blood. The owner is Amadeus Rosa, and his Caravan is based in Canterbury. I expect the usual 100 caps for informing you.

-Jeremiah.

Logging you out, Mr. MacGreagor.

OOC: Ok, I'm going to take a couple of liberties with the story for this post, PM me if anything is wrong with it and i'll change it.

MONK

Monk awoke in the stifling heat of his iron shack in Megaton, someone was banging on the door.
Who the [censored] is this? It's too damn early for this noise.
Rolling from his bed, Monk swiped his cigarettes off a crate by his side and lit one as he went to investigate the noise that had roused him.
It was Graff, a caravan union message carrier.

"Got orders for you from Kino, Monk." Graff said, holding a tattered looking scrap of paper towards Monk. Monk snatched the paper from his hand and closed the door without reply. Monk didn't like Graff.
Happy enough to run around waving orders at people, full of his own importance. Where is he when trouble starts? Hiding in his [censored] office under a [censored] desk most likely. *sigh* Lets see what Kino wants then.
Monk unfolded the paper and looked over the head of the caravan union's handwriting.

Theodore,
I want you to leave immediately for Canterbury Commons. When you arrive you are to find a man by the name of Luke MacGreagor, the union has assigned you to him as a bodyguard for the forseeable future. You are to accompany him wherever he needs you to take him and remain with him at all times. I believe that he will be meeting with Amadeus Rosa, to discuss possable investment in Rosa's caravan, The Open Windows. This would probably be the best place to meet up with him. I want you watching his back when he has the meeting Theodore. Payment will be the usual amount, minus the 10% we'll forward to your' mother.
Signed,
Al Manchester.

"MacGreagor?" Monk said aloud to himself, he knew that name.
Isn't he the one who is constantly under attack from the[censored] raptor? Monk thought to himself Just what i need. I've got a bad feeling this ain't gonna end well.

Monk gathered up the essentials for the journey to Canterbury. A carton of ciggarettes and his lighter went in his small rucksack along with a bottle of vodka and two bottles of Nuka-cola. He strapped on his shoulder rig and slipped his .44 magnum inside, then slid his combat knife into the sheath in his boot.
He pulled on his coat, an old battered, beige duster and then slung the strap of his shotgun (an old lever action model) over his shoulder. Finally he scooped a handfull of bullets and a handfull of caps from one of his cupbords. He was ready to leave.

Monk lit another cigarette and headed out the door.

Damon "Daredevil" Harrison

Damon was heading towards Raymond Allister, prepared to take his orders. He already had an idea as to what he was needed to do. Most likely Raymond wanted their squad to head up to another Raptor location to take them out. More low-lifes to kill. It wasn't that Damon felt they weren't a threat, he just wished they had more than raiders to kill. Either way, he had entered the door to the barracks, where Team Armada was located. He nodded to his other mates, already armored up and ready to go. His own Brotherhood suit was waiting there for him in his own section of the room, marked with the name "Daredevil" on the top of the locker. He pulled out his helmet and looked at the visor, which he'd tinted red and spray-painted with fake horns from the old comic book character. He had even thought of spray-painting a tail, but he decided against the inevitable ridicule. While pulling on the bottom part of the armor he called for his commander.

"Sir, orders?"

Raymond turned to him, helmet off but otherwise fully suited, Armada insignia on his chest plate. "Hope you slept good, our mission today will be lengthy. We have to objectives: to first head to Wheaton Armory and disable the current Raptor Outpost, then to head NE to Canterbury Commons, we hear that's a major Caravan trading spot, and where there will be caravans, there will be Raptors. Our hope is to eliminate the Raptor;s in Wheaton Armory, weakening their numbers and stifling their plans to attack Canterbury Commons altogether."

"Kill two birds with one stone. I like it."

"Exactly. Get yourself armored, we leave at 0815 hours.

Ten minutes. Good, I need to make a stop.
He now had his chest-plate and such on and was reaching for his helmet, but he didn't put it on. Not yet.For now he had to head to that guy William Snowe.

Vicente

Pizarro whirled around as he kicked the chair over. The occupant, still screaming from the past hour, silenced himself.

" I will only ask once. Where did you spot the shipment of energy weapons? "

The man nodded, still attempting to hold on to what little information he could keep.

" What a pity. You'll talk. "

Pizarro opened up a small Doctor's Bag to his right, sitting atop a bloody table, smeared with the blood of past victims. He started whistling a small tune as he pulled out a pair of calipers, insuring to heat the very tips of them. The man started shaking again, fearful but adamant. Pizarro pulled out a lighter, working on the last details of the utencil. Turning to the captive, grasping the Calipers in one hand, Pizarro jabbed them into the man's fingers, slowly burning off the withered flesh and bone from his hand. He continued whistling as he clipped off another two fingers, the man finally collapsing in tears.

" Where is the shipment? "

" It.....it.....belonged to...a man named........MacGreagor......but I....don't know. " He managed to mumble.

" Ah, then, it is but another Union member. Now tell me, dear captive, what did MacGreagor do with that shipment? "

" He sent it off to the....Citadel, I think. Last I heard, though, was that a caravan got mowed down near Canterburry, and it belonged to him. Look, whatever you're looking for, he probably lost interest in the shipment after you took out his last caravan. The guns are probably locked in with the Caravan Union Office.....You'll not likely ever touch them...."

Pizarro gave a wicked smile. The man gave a puzzled look before Pizarro picked up a small .32 pistol from the table.

" You're suffering is over. "

" Wait, wait....I can offer you-"

Pizarro silenced the man with a single shot, flanking the southern wall red. As he began to clean up his mess, he turned to see the face of a raider with a rather disturbed look.

" uhm.....just wanted to let ya know that we're going in for another raid, sir. We'll be needing a marksman for this job, so if you've got the time..."

" I will be there at a moments notice, my good man. As for the record, could you please clean the mess? I haven't the will to waste my hands on such menial efforts. "

The raider nodded and ran into the room, grabbing the nearest bucket of water and tossing it across the wall. Pizarro walked out of the room with a smug look, leaving the little office into the main bazaar of Evergreen Mill's. He always relished the look of fear he got from the main crowd, and although much of the men there had seen some of the worst attrocities in history, few even had the guts to do what Pizarro had done.

" Let's have a round on me. "

Sarah leaned back in th chair if the guard tower of Megaton's caravan union, the nuka cola was nice and chilled, fresh from the vending machine. In the distance something caught her eye, leaning forward on the chair she raised her rifle that rested on it's bi-pod, Breathing in she looked down the scope at the target and squeezing the trigger as she exhaled the drugged up Raptor member flew back a good five feet from the L96A1's magnum round

"Hey Lewis! whats that I'm about four ahead of you now? oh hang on" Sarah raised the Rifle and took another shot

"Make that five ahead" Sarah laughed, they had a friendly shooting competion when they where both on guard duty at the same time

"Hey! Screw you Sarah" Lewis shouted from the other guard tower

"Ha you wish" Sarah jibed back, picking up her Rifle and drink she headed for the stairs

"See ya next time Lewis" Sarah's boots clanked if the metal steps as the next guard came up she warned him about the increase of Raptor activity today.

Sarah pulled the sunglasses of her shirt and put them on and after drinking the last of the Nuka Cola she thew the bottle over the wall and headed to the office. The office door creaked and an old musky sort of smell hit her Jade sat on her right

"Hey you, got anything for me" she smiled and flicked her hair out if her face

"Hey you too, yea Jones is taking a caravan to Canterberry usual fee"

"I'm on it, see ya later" Sarah continued to smile and left the door to go and meet Jone's

William&Evelyn

"I'm going out Evie."

The scribe turned around from her work. "William, where are you going?"

William fiddled with his Silenced 10mm pistol and put it back into his holster. "This is going to be the last mission for a while. Elder Lyons is giving me leave for a month for our wedding and such."

Evelyn nodded and gave a good luck kiss. "Be careful!"

William went down to the briefing room to see a platoon of troops lead by Raymond. He looked at the platoon and at one in particular. "How very inconspicuous of you to storm into a Raptor infested area. For shame Paladin Raymond." William looked down at his own attire, consisting of a business suit, sunglasses, and a fedora.

Ah well, might as well assassinate a Raptor and take his clothes

Vicente

Vicente took a small walk along the outer rim of the canyon, of which Evergreen Mill's was nestled in. As always, he had taken to reading his favorite book of " Political Theorem ". He was still on the chapter of " Anarchy " when he heard the familiar clanking of power armor. Stopping and placing a small bookmark in the between the pages, Vicente took out his binoculars. He hid himself near an old church, clambering above a few old crates to the old attic. He began to scan the wasteland, hoping to spot prey in near sight.

He eventually caught sight of a wandering Knight who had somehow strayed from the Citadel. He had the look of a weary and frightened child, and was in no condition to fight. Vicente put his binoculars back in his side pocket, leaving the church and leisurely walking towards the lost Knight. About five feet from reaching him, the Knight turned and slowly kneeled, heaving with a tired breathe.

" Well well, look what the cat dragged in. "

" Please....I don't have any water or food.....I just want to get home.....to Canterburry..."

Vicente gave a slight thought of pity for the kid. He felt that in the state he was in, it was inappropriate to finish off a weak opponent.

" I'll give you some slack, young man. Take some of my water and food. We may be mortal enemies, but that doesn't mean I don't have a soft spot for the little man in the old man's game. You get home and forget about the Brotherhood. Understood? "

" Yeah....yeah....man, I must be really off on jet for a Raptor to spare me.........."

" It doesn't come easily, trust me. Now go. "

As Vicente commanded, the man grabbed the food and water then began to limp Eastward. Once he vanished from sight, Vicente called upon two raider guards to follow him.

" Sir, we're ready when you are. "

" Good, for time is of the essence. I've already prepared a trip to the road leading out of Canterburry Commons. We'll dig in and wait for some caravan to come cruising in, of course, if the Brotherhood don't notice. "

The two raiders gave a casual nod of approval, eager in their bloodlust. Vicente gave them a small briefing, and not before long, they set off for the highway.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four hours had passed, and although the small team was able to entrench themselves, few noticeable caravans had passed them. Vicente was busy reading, while his two accomplices were busy playing Caravan, ironically enough. Periodically checking the road, Vicente grabbed his rifle and signalled the other two to follow suit. When everyone was prepared, perched high above the ascending caravan, did the two raiders finally notice why Vicente was so sturdily crouched.

" Damn, it's guided by two Knights. Must be those Union bastards at work again.." One raider commented.

" No trouble, just keep your aim on the joints and servo-motors and we'll be fine. If we don't, well, we'll end up in a rather fine jail cell in the Citadel. " Vicente replied.

As the conversation ended and minutes passed, the Brahmin, Merchant, and his two escorts came into the line of fire. Vicente and his men held their aim, and when the moment was right, let loose a torrent of fire.

+ This is Knight Johannsen to Paladin Meade, we are under fire! I repeat, we are under fire! Caravan I.D 232 ambushed along Canterburry highway. Taking heavy fire!+

Vicente continued firing wildy, trying to strike out the Knights, but succeeding in only killing the merchant. The two raiders only achieved in killing the pack Brahmin. The two Knights held their ground.

MONK

Monk sat in the diner in the old center of Canterbury and ordered himself another vodka and nuke, he sat drinking it listening to distant gunfire.

Hmmm, someone's day's just been ruined. He thought to himself. Well not my problem today.

He gulped down the rest of his drink and headed over to the Open Window caravan office building. He found a bench nearby that afforded a good view of the front door, sat down and took out a cigarrette.
I hope this guy MacGraegor isn't involved in that firefight. He thought, casually scratching at the massive scar on the side of his head. Be kinda [censored] to screw this job up before i've even started. He took out his lighter and lit his smoke.
Maybe i'll get lucky and he'll already be in town. He streached his legs out and got comfortable. Nothing for it now, but to wait here and see if he shows up.

Damon "Daredevil" Harrison

William had entered the room and was making conversation with Raymond, casually throwing out his smartie pants big words. It was just the man Damon wanted to see however, he wanted a vouple things done by the time he made it back from his mission. He half walked, half clanked to William, helmet still in hand.

"William, I wanted to know if you could see to getting me some modified armor and weapon. Preferably weapon first. I want this part of my gun to be red, and I want a scope on it. See if we have any more ACOG's downstairs. If not, you should get your people to make on if that's not too much to ask."

Damon noticed the men had begin to move out behind him, but still wanted his answer before he left the Citadel.

William

"I think there are a couple remaining laser sights and ACOG Sights. I'll get Evelyn working on that but in any case, I need to be heading out."

William headed out, trying to stay as hidden as possible from Initiates without being detected for suspicion. When he cleared the gate, the wasteland was the same. Vast stretches of desert with green grass dotting the surface. He sighed

The Wasteland's changed quite a bit...I still can't get over the fact that green exists in this barren desert...

LUKE MACGREAGOR FUTZES WITH AMADEUS.

"Mr. Rosa's really busy right now. You gotta come back later."

Luke handed the bulky man a bag of one hundred caps. The guard opened the door. Amadeus was sitting at his desk reading reports and eating a mirelurk cake. The man looked up.

"Well, if it isn't MacGreagor. By the way, Ripper would have accepted fifty caps. Now, what can I do for you?"

"Hello Amadeus. I've come to purchase the Open Windows Caravan."

"Why? My operation is in perfect shape."

"Not if the D.C. Daily is to be believed. You've lost most of your stuff to Raider attacks."

"Hmph. Fine. I want to retire anyway. Got a nice little place near Arefu I'm gonna settle in. Now, make me an offer."

"Five thousand caps."

Amadeus suddenly pulled out a pistol, "Not enough. Heh. I wouldn't have accepted anyway, I'm being paid far more to kill you." He fired two shots. Luke dodged them and shot Amadeus in the arm. The old man shrieked with pain and rage before breaking the window and jumping out. He could run surprisingly fast for an old man with a broken arm.

Then the guard burst in, "What the hell you think you're doin'?"

Luke turned around, "Your boss is dead. The Caravan is mine now. What are our resources?"

The guard was surprisingly stupid, and just accepted this, "We got five guys and two brahmin. I'm the only one here right now. The others are takin' their crap to Big Town. You might find the other info on Mr. Rosa's computer."

"Download all computer data and bring everything in here to my office." He turned and walked out the door.

Daniel Johnston
Daniel added an extra pack to his brahmin. He had several 'goods to sell,' but it would never be enough, and explorers would often clean him out before he was even close to his destination. He was to go to Canterbury Commons, with a delivery to a supposedly 'important client.'
Yeah, important client just means someone's gonna either give me a thousand caps that I can't spend, or someone'll just try to kill me and take my brahmin.
"Uh, Dan Johnson?" came a slightly muffled voice from behind him.
"It's Daniel Johnston. And what do you want?" Daniel sighed as he turned around. He saw a young, dark skinned man wearing some old, neglected power armour without a helmet.
"I'm supposed to be your bodyguard. I'm Alex," he said with a friendly hand outstretched.
"Perfect. Ooh, and let me guess - you're a knight of the Brotherhood of Steel, sent to guard me since Elder Whatshisface doesn't have anything for you to do and the Union are in love with their goods. Because, since I outlasted the last six bodyguards I was given, I blatantly need more to die with me. Welcome," Daniel turned back without taking Alex's offer of companionship.
"Great, we know each other. So, let's get going?" Alex said after a moment of awkward silence.
"Trust me, I would already be most of the way to Canterbury if I could leave. I simply need to be checked out of Big Town by Alice. Oh, and here she comes now," Daniel spat as an elderly woman walked up beside him.
"Ah, Daniel, so you're off to-"
"Yeah, I know, just let me sign it so I can be out of here."

----------

The distance between Canterbury Commons and Big Town was only really a day away. Plus, since there was little in the way of settlements between the two areas, the only thing to stop them was the occasional Raptor attack. But it was only a day if you were an experienced long distance traveller. And, unluckily for Daniel, Alex wasn't exactly experienced.

"For pity's sake. Isn't there a fitness requirement for the Brotherhood or something? How often have we had to stop?" Daniel grunted, walking around while Alex panted.
"Do you caravan guys ever get tired? How far have we walked?" Alex sighed, wiping some sweat from his brow.
"Yeah, but we don't usually end up resting every two hours."
Alex looked at Daniel and noticed something. "Hey, what's with your hand?"
"None of your business."
"But you're missing two fingers."
"None of your business."
"Fingers don't just drop off, something must'a happened."
"Yeah, something that's none of your business."
"Fine, fine. I won't ask if you're gonna be so testy."

They waited in silence, until Alex signalled that he wanted to leave. But there was something wrong. Alex was slightly more subdued, and kept himself slightly crouched. Daniel had felt it too - they were being stalked. Someone was watching them from the hills. It was as soon as Alex turned around that he was killed - a single bullet straight through the head. And then, the Raptors descended on the caravan. There had to be at least ten of them, and not even Daniel could keep that many of them away with only a plasma pistol. He had to hatch a plan, and quickly. He didn't know what he was doing, he was on autopilot now. The gun wielders were the most immediate problem - however, he still had the marksman skills he had developed with the Brotherhood of Steel. He shot their arms - killed one of them, too - and disabled them. Now that they were out, some of the melee Raptors came at him. For these, if he shot their legs, they would be sufficiently slowed for him to make an escape.

But something was wrong. He couldn't seem to hit them. He had a sharp pain in the side of his head - a bullet had grazed past him, as he realised when he placed his left hand to his red skull. Some of them were still able to shoot. "Ah, come on. Gimme a chance!" Daniel simply ran for it, firing a few shots behind him. Screw the brahmin, screw the package, screw payment, and screw the fine. He was saving himself before he was killed. He kept running. And running. And running. He was free!

But why was he simply left when he fled? Raptors would have simply killed him. when he was fleeing. Did they develop mercy? Or was he delivering something so important that they didn't care about killing another member of the Union? The questions kept mounting in his head. He had to continue on his way to Canterbury Commons anyway, to report to the client that he had lost the delivery en route. However, he was curious now. There must have been some reason for him being spared. Something big.

Sarah approached a colored man with an old cowboy hat at the departures part of the base who was playing around with a 10MM pistol

"Jones? I'm Sarah i will be your guard and scout for today is there anything i can do to make the trip more pleasant sir?" Sarah began to snigger to her self, she couldn't say that with a straight face and laughed to herself as did Jones

"Hey Sarah, how you doin?" Jones spoke i a deep voice as he held out his hand

"I'm fine thanks Jones, so Canterberry? we got anyone else tagging along?" Sarah shook his had, the two had been friends for at least three years now

"Yea Canterberry there's a lot going that a way nowadays we got two new guards tagging along, green as grass, no wait brown as the wasteland i mean" And with that the two other guards walked over to them they where young, perhaps nineteen or twenty?

"Hey we got us a lady on this trip! hey sweet thang' you need me to carry that rifle for ya?" The young guard clearly had a lack of respect for more experienced guards and had pissed Sarah of in his first ten seconds of meeting her she walked over to him casually

"Hoo hoo you in for it now boy" Jones knew all to well not to piss Sarah off

"Aw isn't sweet maybe you could carry it for me it is a bit heavy here..." Quickly raising the stock of the rifle she jammed it into the mans stomach, winded he fell to his knees by which point Sarah had flipped the rifle around in her hands and pulled the bolt expelling an empty round

"Now maybe you need me to carry that sub little boy or are you not up to it? Get up" Jones and the other guard where almost on the floor with laughter, the guard got up with a loud grunt and clutched his stomach, Sarah then heard a tut from behind her

"That's not nice, here you forgot this see ya" Jade walked over giggling after seeing what had happened to the guard and handed Sarah her combat knife that she'd left in the office

"Thanks I'll see you when i get back" Sarah watched as Jade walked back to the office and smiled, Jones had stopped laughing

"So uh you too cause you now that'd be cool" Jones made some awkward hand gesture pointing out the two

"Shut up Jones" Sarah went a little red but brushed off the comment

"We're just good friends"

"Sure cause friends look..." Sarah gave him one of those stop talking now stares that she was so good at

"Ok i get it none of my business, right lets get outta here" Jones led the branhim out the gate with the two guards in tow Sarah did what she did best and kept her distance on as high ground as possible

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They where perhaps halfway through the walk when Sarah's Radio picked up voices through Static

"This is Knight Johannsen to Paladin Meade, we are under fire! I repeat, we are under fire! Caravan I.D 232 ambushed along Canterburry highway. Taking heavy fire"

Sarah jogged down to her caravan

"Jones, take a wide berth north to Canterberry there's something going on ahead some brotherhood asking for help I'm gonna go, You two keep him safe Jones is a good friend of mine got it?" All three nodded and carried on there way. Sarah sprinted up the highway, as she heard the gunfire get louder she climbed up a small ridge to her south

"This is Sarah Lawson, I'm a caravan guard Ive come to help with sniper support over" there was no reply from the brotherhood. From her position she could see the battle, lying down she looked through the scope and could see a dead merchant and branhim but the Brotherhood members where holding fast. There looked to be three assailants, she didn't have the best angle on them but this was the highest point so it would have to do. Targeting a raider she shot on the exhale and sent a round clean through his upper arm, he was out of the fight so she targeted the other's weapon which promptly flew from the raider's hands with force. Sliding the bolt she replaced the empty magazine with a fresh one and scoped in again, she had no shot on the last assailant but kept getting glimpses of a marking, it was Raptor Death Squad

"[censored], i can't get him from here" Instead Sarah tried to lay some suppressing fire on him and the hard hitting Magnum rounds hit there marks around the target hopefully stifling his fire on the brotherhood members.

MONK

Is that him? Monk thought to himself as he watched a man with shoulder length red hair walk up to the door of the Open Window caravan office. The man approached and stopped to talk to the large guard at the door. The two spoke for a second, then the red haired man handed over a small bag and was allowed to enter.
Wonder if it was a good bribe. Monk pondered as he got to his feet, Could be him, better go see. He bagan to make his way accross the square towards the building.

Suddenly the quiet was shattered by gunfire from the building followed by the sound of breaking glass. "[Censored]" Monk breathed aloud speeding up his approach to the caravan building. "Just my luck. Hope this guy ain't shot up too bad."

As Monk approached the door the bulky guard turned and charged into the room, Monk hunkered down by the door and pulled his .44 from it's rig under his armpit and checked it was loaded, then snuck into the corridor beyond the door.

"Your boss is dead. The Caravan is mine now. What are our resources?" A voice form inside said.
Well sounds like the negotiation went well. Monk thought. Better not tell Kino i missed what happened.

Monk continued to listen as the guard replied to the question then he heard the man he assumed was MacGreagor say "Download all computer data and bring it here to my office."
As he he finished saying this the red haired man strode out of the room. He spotted Monk and recoiled in shock. It's the scars, startles them every time. Monk thought, with a hint of ammusemant. To the man he said "You MacGreagor? I'm Monk. Kino sent me to watch your back." He looked at the blood spattered on the wall behind the desk and the broken window. "Looks like you've got it all in hand here though."

OOC: I was accepted..here it goes.

Alexander Scalatti

Alex plopped into his fancy vault chair. He turned on his terminal and began to look at the emails. Discard...discard...discard..discard.. sigh. Every single email was something about how he svcked at being the vault diplomat, or praising him for begin an awesome one. This job blows.

Alex was the official Vault 101 Diplomat to the wastes. He represented Vault 101 to the entire Capital Wasteland; not an easy job to do. Every single day, some sort of request for money or stimpacks would come in, and Alex would have to decline. How can this day get any worse?

"YOU [censored] HORSE [censored]!!" Someone stompted into the office; it was the overseers assitant. "Hello sir..may I help you? Sigh "I SPECIFICALLY told you to ACCEPT the TERMS of the [censored] offer!"

"But that would put us in a weakened state, we can hardly send out stimpacks to meet the deals.."

"I DONT GIVE A [censored]!" The assistant slammed a mug onto the table. "I want that deal ACCEPTED in THREE days!"

The assistant stormed out of the office.

Suddenly, a beutiful blond haired woman entered the office, "Alex, who was that?" "Ann, it's nothing to be worried about." "Honey..."

"Fine.. if I dont get this deal done, I will be executed and my head will be displayed on a pole." "Thats horrible!" "So baby, let me get this done, then we will talk."

William

William made his pretty short trek from the Citadel to a small Raptor Base Camp. He played the holotape with a standard issue tape player given to him by the Brotherhood, specifically, Evelyn. He held his breath and played it.

"Um...is this thing on? Alright, if you're hearing this, your mission is to blow the little [censored] camp you're probably looking at right now. You have leave to be as loud or as quiet as you want."

Ah the sound of an initiate trying to record a message for the first time.

William approached a lone Raptor guard and tapped him on the shoulder. "Oi, Sally."

When the guard turned, he was shot point blank with the silenced pistol. William quickly switched to the Raptor armor and walked through the camp, eying the guards.

LUKE MACGREAGOR SELLS SOME PROPERTY.

"Why the hell would Kino wanna help me? We haven't exactly been on the best of terms lately. Don't matter. Head over to my office- it's the three story building over yonder with 'MacGreagor's Quality Goods' on top. In neon. And if you're another hitman, I'll kill you myself."

Luke walked back into the office and went to Amadeus's desk. Ripper had downloaded most data and removed everything of interest, and it sounded like he was in the kitchen. Luke reached up to the wall and took down the one most important thing: the framed deed to the building and the land. He didn't have any use for it now, but he might later. He went into the kitchen. Ripper was filling a cardboard box with alcohol from the fridge.

"Ripper, when the other members of this Caravan come back tomorrow redirect them to my office. They'll live there and so will you. I'd like you to be my doorguard also. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have business to take care of."

He left the ramshackle old building and walking a bit further into town, to the Real Estate office. He didn't trust it. It was far too shiny. He walked in and found a clerk.

"I want to sell a building."

"Certainly sir, just give us the deed and we'll process the transaction." He looked at the deed, "The Open Windows Caravan building, sir? Isn't it owned by Amadeus Rosa?"

"He... sold it to me recently."

"Very well sir. Are there any furnishings in the building you also wish to sell?"

"Yeah. Whatever's in there in an hour."

"Very well sir. The funds have cleared, here's your twenty thousand caps. We will have the funds from the furnishings delivered to you tomorrow. Goodbye, sir."

Luke MacGreagor left the building and went to his office. It had certainly been a very strange day.

OOC: @ venix the first half of your last post was barely understandable. @alex and zerker, I lol'd that both you guys have the same names and romances. Good job so far to all posters we're almost done our first page!

Damon "Daredevil" Harrison

Damon really did want the ACOG sight, but he figured it could wait until his next return. He jogged out into the wastes and caught up with his platoon before putting on his helmet. H e didn't like the way the world looked un red, unless he was outside. Outside, everything he saw was slightly altered, and it was beautiful to him. Especially the sun, which blazed a bright light crimson, almost the color of blood. He didn't really like red all too much, but after killing so many, he was used to seeing it everywhere.

They, like everyone else, didn't have any form of transportation, and from where they were, it would take a good chunk of the day to make it to Wheaton Armory. Soon however, they had run across a small discrepancy. Some two guys were walking, nos in Brotherhood Armor. Another soldier, Ryan, raised his sniper rifle to the two blurs, then said:

"Hey Damon, ain't that the new kid Alex."

"Yup," One thing I want done to these tin cans is zoom capability. I can't see [censored] man. And gimme a radio to so we could actually communicate for once. "Ay Ray, didn't we send hm on a caravan protection mission?"

"Yes we did, Damon. Why don't we all wave to hi--[censored]!." Before he could finish, Alex's head reeled back, and from his skill emitted a fine red mist. Damon didn't need orders before he rushed forward looking in the direction of the shot. The other person had his pistol and was running and shooting, while Damon was looking to intercept what looked to be raiders. Before he could get close enough to fire, three had been taken out by Ryan and his sniper. Only three more left, Damon sighed. He shot the first one without ever being recognized, and as he fell to the floor, he tackled the other to the ground and ran his rifle but into the raiders jaw hard enough to break it. Then, still mounted on the man, he shot the last one who was running away. He made sure to shoot enough to kill the man, not just injure him. He didn't want any running back to their leader.

244 kills, no injuries.

He stood up and waved at Ryan, who was still looking at them through his scope, then gestures aiming down his own invisible rifle. Ryan caught on and finished of the fallen raider. Damon pulled a thumbs up and then looked into the distance at the man who was still running. He was a long distance from them now, and still hadn't stopped.

"Good job Damon, let us have some fun next time. Joe, Carmine, guard that brahmin, we wouldn't want it wasted. Move out."

"Hoorah." Damon said silently.

OOC: Same name and same romances doesn't really matter. Besides, an RP is much more dynamic than a fan fiction so it's more acceptable.

William

"Hey you!" A Raptor foot soldier yelled as William was getting ready to plant the bombs. He turned around. "What do you want?" William asked in the toughest voice he could muster, which wasn't all that good in the first place.

"Boss wants to see you."

William sighed. "Didn't have to be this way."

He took out his MAC11 and shot three rounds in the soldier's gut. As the soldier fell, the screams reached the camp. William hurried and placed the remaining explosives and ran. As the soldiers rounded the dead Raptor's body, William smiled. "Goodbye my friends."

With a click of the switch, the camp went up in flames. William tipped his fedora at the dead bodies and fires. He headed down to Megaton. The town was lit and casino signs flashed with Brotherhood and Vault City security patrolling the giant crater. The bomb was one of the "Pre War Monuments" now and the Church of Atom was still present, much like when he first looked at the bomb a few days after the Lone Wanderer disarmed the bomb.

He tapped a Brotherhood messenger. "Hey, relay this message to Scribe Marx. 'I won't be at the Citadel for a week, sorry.'"

The messenger nodded and the caps were exchanged along with the message. He left Megaton and William hesitated then finally headed down to Vault City/Vault 101. The steel cog door was mostly gone and headed downstairs to his old room, which was still active for him and Evelyn for vacations and when missions are slow.

He sighed. "Great...I blow up a Raptor camp and can't even return without it being night. And it's the most dangerous week for Brotherhood Agents ever."

Every Brotherhood agent was discouraged to go out at night simply because all Brotherhood soldiers are targeted at night by Raptor Night Stalkers. Especially this week as the Raptors are most active this time of the year. He wandered around for a bit until he settled close to the Ambassador's office for a check in.

"Ambassador Scalatti? William Snowe, you should have my name stored. I'm staying for a week."

Daniel Johnston

Still unable to make head or tails of his situation, Daniel took a moment to find out where he was. Running away had left him with another three hours of travel time, and it would be night before long - and traveling alone at night was like a death sentence to someone walking alone, no matter how well armed they were.

Sighing, Daniel turned onto the right path. He had to get to Canterbury Commons by the next morning, or he would be pronounced dead. He wished he could have had a better bodyguard - even though he was a member of the Brotherhood, it would have been nice to have someone skilled, or someone who would put their helmet on and not die. But, hey, that's the trouble with rookies - they think they know everything and end up making the rest of us pay.

Touching his wound again, he wondered whether it would be worth picking up the pace, and travelling at night just to make sure he didn't get an infection. Walking quicker, he decided it was worth it, just in case. And then, he saw something in the distance. A lone knight, slightly limping toward him, tired. Daniel cracked a smile - power armour would be pretty useful, and though he probably didn't have many medical supplies, he would still have something.

As he approached, the lone knight spoke. "Have you... got any... stims?"

Daniel smiled again, he knew a perfect trap for this isolated man. "Why, of course. Here, take two - one for now, and one for later. In fact, let me put them in your suit's compartment for you now," he said kindly, as he made his way around to the back of the knight's suit. Of course, he had no intentions of giving away his precious stimpaks, but simply placing an armed pulse grenade would suffice as a gift.
"There you go. Now, I must be going, goodbye," Daniel ran off, and the pulse grenade exploded as the knight went to pull it out of his pack. Proud of himself, Daniel looted his new corpse.

"Feh. You mustn't have been liked at all - all you have is this armour and a few caps. Oh, and an MF cell. Silly me, you must have been loved to carry a laser rifle!"

Throwing 'knight Hannigan's' dog tags in the air and catching them, Daniel continued on the way to Canterbury Commons.

OOC: @Ant1Iv3, I never noticed that....

Alexander Scalatti

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.

Sigh, time to wake up, Alex groggily turned over and turned off the alarm clock. Ann was a heavy sleeper so she did not notice. He went over into the bathroom and took a shower, as he came he put on a nice suit. This should do, Alex remarked to himself as he put on his favorite fedora.

Alex opened his apartments door and entered the main hallway. It was 4:30 so only the guards were up. Most scoffed or praised Alex as he walked by. Everyone here either hates me or loves me... He entered the Cafeteria and made himself some breakfast, some bacon and eggs. Alex ate quickly and left for the maintence hall.

He entered the entrence room and saw the vault door. For the longest time, I could not even leave the vault.. now I can leave whenever I please! Alex touched some controls on the keyboard. Suddenly, the vault door began to open.

He loved the noise that it made, something that most people hated. Alex went into the natural cave and opened the tiny door.

Sunlight raced into Alex's eyes. Alex took a minute to adjust to the sun rising. He turned his head and noticed Megaton was bright as the moon. Alex noticed several buidlers building buildings close to the vault. Its only a matter of time before my vault becomes part of megaton.

Alex walked onto the main road. He was headed to the citadel.

Vicente

Vicente swore as his two grunts were taken down by sniper fire. It had been three hours of pure engagement as the two Knights continued firing on his position.

" Only one thing to do know. "

Vicente took up his rifle and switched it to full auto. In any normal raid, he would've had it at burst-fire, but this wasn't how he had planned his raid. He took four seconds to prepare before rising up and unleashing his entire clip on one Knight, luckily downing him from a stray shot through the neck. The other Knight sent a small bullet deep into Vicente's Combat Armor, but it was stopped in time.

" Give up, fool, you're only prolonging your sentence of pain. "

The Knight simply kept on firing, ignoring whatever taunts Vicente threw. When the Knight was in full melee range, Vicente took out his trench knife and lept over the barricade, sprinting for the man. The Knight stood idle for a few moments, surprised at his audacity. He fell when Vicente jabbed the knife into his eye-visor, ripping apart the cornea and whatever synaptic clefts where connecting his eyes and brain. Pulling his knife out with haste, Vicente ducked behind some concrete boulder, sheathing and holstering his weaponry.

" And who might the young lady be? "

Evelyn

"Scribe Marx?"

Evelyn turned from a few weapon modifications and smiled. "Go on messenger."

"Brotherhood Agent William Snowe sent this to you."

She grabbed the piece of parchment and read it. "Alright, that's all."

The messenger left and Evelyn sighed. She never really got to see William all that often ever since the whole "Raptor vs. Brotherhood" battle back in 2283.

William

William stayed in Vault 101 for a bit before getting anxious about the steel noises. He left his vacation room and headed down to the entrance to see the builders and architects working on Megaton. Ever since the Vault opened days before the First Battle of D.C, Megaton was trying to annex this. At first, it was a Brotherhood secret but what's there to be secretive about now? Builders are amassing at the door to 101.

He trekked back to the Citadel in any case. The wasteland was safe somewhat now a days since it was being patrolled by many different military forces. When he reached the Potomac, now full of fresh clean water and thankfully, very little Mirelurk Carcasses, he stared out at the river, admiring its beauty and surprised that merely 11 years ago, it was irradiated and one of the death traps of wastelanders.

"The Citadel's pretty close off from here, might as well stay for a bit," he said to himself and sat down on the riverbank.
