Gambling Addiction

Good evening / afternoon / morning / time zone to you all!

As a former native of Las Vegas and considerably repeat visitor, I've got my fair share of minor disappointments concerning the execution of "New Vegas" itself. Numerous mods have surged forth to spruce up the Strip, some for Freeside, and others still like the brilliant New Bison Steve Hotel and Lucky Casino or Run the Lucky 38 expand upon existing locations to give that real Vegas / Nevada feel to the game, but something continues to nag at me. I recall going into gas stations and seeing slot machines fixed to the walls, side-room mini-casinos everywhere, even restaurants that featured casinos rather than casinos that featured restaurants.

Things being what they are, I wish to gauge interest (and assistance) in adding some thematically sized casinos / gambling bits to existing locations in the Mojave Wasteland such as..

- The Silver Rush (they already have the slot machines)
- Goodsprings (a blackjack table and one, two slot machines tops at the saloon. Trudy could double as the cashier.)
- Novac (again, thinking small scale, cafe sized structure attached to the hotel)
- Boulder City (small scale again, though perhaps it's own structure on the non-destroyed part of town near the saloon)
- Jacobstown (a quaint little casino at an old ski lodge.. run by super mutants. Whee!)
- Vault 21 (already has the "outline" of a casino, just needs guests, chips, cashier, and slots)

I wouldn't bother with Primm since the Vikki and Vance opens up after you complete the quests out there, and it's home to the wonderful "New Bison Steve" mod. Five Six casinos already seems like a grandoise enough project to undertake, though I'd probably go through personally and add broken slot machines to every pre-War gas station and general store I could find for the sake of nostalgia.

What would I need help with? Sadly quite a bit. Voice acting I am capable of, writing and dialogue I am good at, world design I am excellent at, but I fail hardcoe at scripting, modeling, texturing. Sadly since you can't just walk up and stick a bottle cap in a slot machine, a cashier and custom (or generic) chips has to come into play everywhere. I had tinkered with cashier scripts in the past and basically broke my entire game - I have since shied away from trying again.

So, who would be interested in bringing the gambling back to Nevada in full force?
