Gambling and taverns

Post » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:19 pm

I would like to see more interactive taverns in the game. In most midevil type taverns people would go in buy food and drink, talk to other town folks and maybe play a game of chance. There should be an anination for eating and drinking to help with realism in game play. Also each tavern should have a room for people to gamble. Either cards, dice, arm wrestling, or maybe snail racing. I know some one made an interesting mod for oblivion. Could mix it up so each tavern would have something different.

I also hope there wil be an arena again. It would be nice to wided the amounts that can be bet for newbies to high rollers such as (50,100,250,500,1K, 5K, 10K, 25K). Closer action on the fights would be nice.

Skills Tournaments that you can either participate in or bet on. These would be things like Joists, Archer Tournements, Knife or Axe throwing contests. It could include boxing or werstling matches. It would be great to see each city have its own sport of enterainment not just the arena in the main city and thats it.

Lively taverns where you could relax and do something different after a long day of adventuring. That's basically all I'm asking.

Didn't they say in one of the GI interviews that taverns were definitely more of a focus and interactive?

NV was pretty heavy on gambling... I didnt touch it, so I couldnt care less if the PC is able to join.

It would be alright to see NPCs playin games tho

I think we can see that from the trailer itself.
Taverns look awesome.
Gambling... hm.
I'd say no. Mainly because I don't want it to turn out like a cheap mini-game. It could be good, but it probably wouldn't, I think.

I hope that Lute player in the demo isn't just for show, and we get special music in the taverns. That and the sound of a roaring fire is what I want to hear after a hard day's hacking and fireballing.

Also, a tavern fight or two would keep the Nord spirit of the game alive and kicking.... :P

Stick a chessboard in the corner of a tavern and I'm happy, even if you can only gamble for your next pint :D

Wow i cant wait to feel the adrenaline as the starting signal goes for the snail race - sorry a little sarcasm there, but on a serious note, i definately would appreciate more interactive taverns. There needs to be a point to living in the towns after adventuring. In Oblivion when you have completed all quests and factions the game starts to become boring. Although i could continue playing there seemed to be little point.

I hope that some NPC's will bring some books and read them out loud. or at least a summary of the books. Like the Lusty Argonian Maid :hubbahubba:

It would just be great if the charactor was part of the world they are fighting in. In Oblivion you were like some alien from another world. No home, no family, no friends, no past. It would be good to be a citizen who is a part of a community who in time of need steps up to the plate and becomes the hero. The more imersive interaction with NPC's in a variety of roll playing aspects would extend the life of the game.

Agreed but why stop at Taverns... I'd like everything to feel like is has more of a purpose to it rather then just decorations.

Still YES, Taverns should be a place you fondly think about returning to while trudging through the deep dark dungeons of Skyrim. Not just some lame stopoff to pick-up one... AND I MEAN ONE!! Quest. Then never return to again because its been squeezed dry of anything of interest.

I hope you can bet on arena matches, and maybe play a few games in pubs for some quick coin.

I think what we're all after are more realistic NPCs, ones that feel alive. Walking into a tavern and seeing people sitting down, laughing, eating, drinking, fighting, joking, gambling; it will all add to the immersion. I remember hanging around these forums before Oblivion came out and we all hoped for this kind of thing in the game. It didn't really happen then (other than sitting), but a lot has changed in 5 years; it might not be too much to hope for that we get at least a few of these behaviours.

They should have gambling games Like:.....

A Wizard's chest-Quite like real lifes but the figures move like in Harry Potter's Wizard Chest

Black Jack-I think could still work in old times..... Maybe only in high end places though....

Checkers also

Their should be lots of games in Taverns and Bars... Those were just examples
