Gambling in casinos bores me in real life, and lo and behold, turned out the same in the game. Snore.

Guess that's why I prefer Fallout. :celebration: A game with exploration, strategy, danger, skill, stories, emotional impact! ... or drunken card games with my friends, which are more about drinking with friends than they are about cards.

Does anybody actually... gamble?

I don't have the patience to learn Caravan or Blackjack. Roulette is... unexciting. So the only gambling I ever do in this game is the slot machines. I just spend all my NCR bills/Legion coins on The Tops chips and raise it to maximum bet. Then I usually lose it all after trying to get the triple Cherries 20x over.

Does anybody gamble? It would svck that a Vegas-based game would let it go to waste.

Blackjack's easy to play, and there actually is a bit of skill involved in playing it, unlike roulette or slots, which are entirely probability based (at least in real life). Just remember that there are more cards with a value of 10 than there are for any other number, and make your decisions to stand or draw, or how much to bet, based on that fact.

I just never could get the hang of Caravan, and I pretty much never play it. Maybe on my next playthrough I'll make another attempt at it.

What I really wish is that you could play poker. Even if it could be set up where it's just you against the house would be a lot of fun.

I hate any "invented" game within a game, they all usually svck, are repetitive and/or boring,
or so stupidly inane or whatever, that I don't even bother with them.

Even worse, is arcade-like mini games, like that stupid stupid "Fly the Airplane" game in Jade Empire.
You got some pretty cool stuff, and completed one of your companions stories, but I'm also not 18 anymore
and don't have "twitchy fingers" like I did back in the day

My luck is 10.
I won about 15000 caps from Blackjack (not like that's much).
Not much from Slots or Roulette.
Caravan is interesting, but it takes too long, especially that 30G achievment where you have to win 30 Caravan matches. :spotted owl:

I spend hours at a time playing blackjack, until I lose all my caps. Then I got out into the wasteland to get more caps to spend at - you guessed it - the casinos.

imho if you bought fallout to play Virtual gambling games, well thats kind of meh

If I understand the system correctly a luck of -0- has the game playing blackjack accrding to the "rules" of the game, you actualy get a slight bump in your favor even with Luck 1 (I think the house "edge" in the Ultralux is .66% at luck 0 but even at luck 0 it will still throw the random "you feel lucky" win, its just that the house edge is still enough for you to lose consistantly and some of thoes "Luck" wins are ones you would have won without the game forceing a win on you.

Not if you have 7 luck. You will -eventually- max out.

Pretty lame.

Once you figure out how broken caravan is you will win every single friggen time.

Caravans only broken because the AI's not allowed to use face cards on you. Play it in real life, it's more challenging and actually requires paying attention.

On topic though, I love to gamble in NV I just wish that until you got to the strip that anyone you bet with only put up around 20-40 caps. Because these "poor" little shop owners dropping 800+ in caravan at level 3 is tooooo easy. I at least want to be short on caps until around level 10, jeez.

Breaking Vegas is fun. I mostly play Blackjack. I play slots but never win anything. Roulette I can't win anything with it. Caravan I don't play that often.

If you don't like the games you can bet on the blood sports. Go to the thorn and bet on the creature fights.

My Mr.House run-through was big on gambling, I made him 9 luck+implant won every caravan, won every blackjack hand, lots of fun around 150 000 caps endgame. Lots of money for my energy weapons, seriously Remnant armor and the YCS/186, this is my unstoppable character :ahhh: (although not my favorite)

Blackjack is really fun and easy to play, not that hard for you to learn. You're supposed to get as close to 21 as possible, and win over the bank. Queen, King and Jack counts as 10 and Ace counts as either 1 or 11.

I didn't buy the game to gamble. I bought the game to kill stuff. I'm just taking advantage of an in-game feature.

With 9 Luck and reasonable knowledge of how to play Blackjack (I took a class on it once), it's not really gambling, it's money for nothing. I turned 50 Atomic Wrangler chips into 3,000 in maybe half an hour. And I got 14,000 out of the Ultra-Luxe just on NCR dollars and Legion Denarii I scavved here and there.

Of course I gamble in ever single playthough. As long as your luck is 7 or above, the casinos basically becomes your personal ATM machines and as long as you keep on playing blackjack, your can win enough money to last you the entire game.

I was kinda dissapointed with gambling and would like to see the gambling skill return maybe it equals 1 point of luck only for gambling but still even though I liked what they had four games didnt feel like a selection.

I was specifying the switch from F3 to FNV. Otherwise, yes, gambling is an old mechanic.

Slot machines are the quickest an easiest way to make [censored] tons of money. Get close to being banned, and just do slot machines until you hit three lemons, or three oranges. 10+ luck is lolsy.

With my luck at 8, it took me exactly 35 minutes to hit triple orange and earn a cool 32,000 caps at the Atomic Wrangler. Off to buy my level 1 character all the implants I can handle. :wink_smile:

Nah, see no point to it since the economy is screwed up.
Besides, if I wanted to play gambling minigames I'd go on the internet to play them.
But when I play a game I bought for 600 kronors then I want to play the actual game, not a mini-mini game inside a game.

TL;DR: It makes no damn sense.

I liked gambling, i mean, I wasn't expecting RDR's level of gambling in this game but I thought they did pretty good. Favourite game being blackjack because I always win
