In-game Bio

Post » Fri Mar 07, 2014 12:48 am

Does anyone know if there is, or if there are plans to include a publicly accessible space for you to write a character bio, similar to City of Heroes?

I think a lot of people (me included) will have put some thought into their characters' backstories and personalities, especially if the character is of an unusual race for the alliance or something like that.

For example, I'm thinking of rolling an Orc who has been raised by Bretons, which would affect the name, making it seem inappropriate without that information. Obviously not everyone is a hardcoe roleplayer, but any extra player-created world building would my welcomed in my opinion.

Has anyone heard about anything like this?

There are mods for WoW that allow you to write a back-story and so on, there has been for many years now. No doubt there will probably be something like that made for this; just keep your eyes on sites like the Nexus.

As for me, I prefer to reveal my story naturally. I never understood people roleplaying with their background stapled to them like that. If people want to know about my character, they just have to ask.

Yes! Fianolly some one else besides me is interested in this. i have loved having my own Bio ever since i played DDO. having our own BIO available should be able to be viewed by the public and anyone who looks at our character. it helps in many ways including social conversations and guild recruting and soo many other things that help us stand out as unique and indepth help for roleplaying. the list goes on and on for the social aspect enhancer that having a visible BIO adds to our character.

i sure hope we are allowed a BIO. :)

Why would Bretons adopt an Orc? Historically they really really hate eachother. There have literally been racist propaganda books written about Orcs by the Bretons and they and the Redguards have curbstomped Orsinium many times over. The only reason Orcs are being promised membership into the Covenant is because we need the meat shields, and even the Orcs realize this. They don't even have their own province, they're just big green rats that need to be exterminated. That backstory very much strains my belief.

But yeah, I'd love some more RP support.

Brand-Shei, a Dunmer in Skyrim, was adopted my Argonians despite the history of slavery between the two races. It doesn't seem too farfetched to me.

Yeah, why would a Breton adopt an Orc? Finding the answer to that sounds like a great way to start some RP, doesn't it?

The unbelievable stories are the ones you remember. Besides, I'd like to think Nirn is a diverse world, even within each province. To say that all Bretons hate all Orcs with no exceptions strains my belief far more than the story the OP presented.

The thing is, if you think someone's bio is violating lore or stretching it too far, it's as simple as ignoring it.

It's the same as any other roleplaying aspect - some of it is going to rub you the wrong way, but it's unavoidable in an MMO environment when everyone has different ideas about what should and should not exist with established lore.

I'm just saying that it would be good to have a space to convey it for people to ignore or take on as they see fit.
