A game close to Requiem

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 12:30 pm

Hi all

I have tried Requiem for a Skyrim playthrough - and even though I found it (mostly) really good, there were some things, that made me quit it. Mostly I think it is to hard for me - I really love the atmosphere and roleplaying elements, but the difficulty is really a deal breaker for me. I work alot and don't have time for learning to love to die that much :/

What I wan't - and hope somebody can help me with - is some mods or tweaks to Requiem, that makes the game into what Requiem is, but ALOT easier, in every aspect of combat and enemies. I do not want to go bandit lair diving for the first 5-10 levels before I can head into Bleak Falls Barrow, I want it more streamlined, but still with the atmosphere and roleplaying elements.

I have tried SkyRe, and it is not what I'm looking for  But other overhauls maybe? Other perk changes? Combat mods? All input is welcome!

Thanks a bunch!

Requiem can be adjusted to your liking in the MCM menu. You can choose the difficulty, how much damage you deal and how much you take, etc. My suggestion would be to start there :tops:

I have already tried that :) It works somewhat, but its not a smooth experience. Some enemies will go down in a swing or two (humans i.e.) but draugr will need alot of swings (even with silver) before they die - it seems kind of unbalanced :/ But of course it is a "last resort" option.

I suggest putting together your own piecemeal "overhaul." Something like this:
ACE for the replacement of most perk trees
A creature mod for more diverse and challenging foes
Frostfall + Wet and Cold for the challenge

Those three will up the challenge in a more fun and less punishing way. In addition, consider:

Morrowloot or some similar loot overhaul mod
A trade and barter mod to make money-gaining more challenging

I, too, tried Requiem. But, I've since ditched it for a piece-by-piece approach. It seems to me to work well with Skyrim.

Good luck!

If your just looking to make the game more difficult, I suggest trying Revenge of the Enemies: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40491/?

I've never really needed to use potions even when I used combat overhauls that are supposed make the game more difficult, but Revenge of the Enemies definitely makes enemies challenging.

Unlike other AI mods I've tried, the enemies in Revenge of the Enemies aren't just machine gun spamming bash non stop, they actually use spells and other methods to try and kill you. I would even suggest using it alone without other combat mods since the ai is really quite aggressive.

I was pleasantly suprised when I actually died on the first Dragon lord you fight for the dragon tablet quest near the beggining of the game. It actually felt like a boss fight.

As for perk mods, there's quite a lot now to choose from.

Combat Remastered :http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24377/? is really good because of how it ties the perk trees to combat, but unfortunately the author has stopped working on it so it feels incomplete.

I'm currently using TTRSO :http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33860/? which is great so far, it goes the opposite direction from mods like SkyRE. Whereas SkyRE locks you into very specific weapon types, e.g. katana vs long sword vs etc., TTRSO is more 1h weapon vs 2h weapon, e.g. crit perks in the 1h or 2h tree apply to all weapons and isn't exclusive to swords. I personally prefer it this way because I like to use different weapons added by the many weapon mods out there.
