Game crashes every 5 to 10 minutes of regular play

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 5:29 am

Yeah I'm used to seeing it around 50 or so, I just thought it odd that it's been crashing pretty consistently after the same temp rise with the exception of when I'm tabbed out and the temp doesn't rise, it will stay running. In other news I reset my bios and that didn't do a damned thing to fix it.

All that temp rise means is that your computer is doing something. It will rise to baseline stress level and then level out. If its spiking to the 75+ range and then your computer snaps off, then its a real heat issue.

This same thing has been happening to me since I installed the game yesterday. Play for around 3-10min then crash to desktop with no error message.

OS windows 7 64 bit

-I have updated Nvidia GPU drivers

-Tried windowed mode with borderless

-Reduced all settings to low

-Updated anything else that I thought might need updating including motherboard Bios

Nothing is working... :brokencomputer:

I am currently trying a reinstall but have a feeling that this is not going to work either. (reinstall did not work :( )

I opened a ticket with Bethesda support yesterday and received an automatic response which hopefully does not mean that they closed my ticket without looking at it.

I have tried to search for fixes but have found nothing other then updating to patch 1.1.30 which as I understand is on steam now as a default.

This seems to be happening to a few people so hopefully they find a fix soon. :nope:

The good news is I have now received two separate non-robot responses from Bethesda Customer Support for my ticket. In the first one they tried to tell me that I had the wrong AMD Catalyst display driver. I think this is just some confusion over the numbering AMD uses. Here's a picture (Bethesda won't let me post links):

i . imgur . com / ZHp0EaE . png

As you can see the package is labelled 15.11 Beta, but the actual display driver is called 15.201.1151.1007-151103a-296068E. The second value is what they would have seen in my DxDiag results and they assumed that is not the right one. If this is indeed the wrong version then I asked to know where I could find the correct one since I was using the links directly from AMD's website.

I highly doubt that this is a AMD-specific issue though, I've heard plenty of people with nVidia also having this problem.

The second response from Bethesda told me that they "escalated to a specialized team for further investigation. A member of that team will contact you as soon as possible." So I am hopeful that they may get back to me again soon with some more helpful ideas.

It's so much better to interact with a human than with a robot! :)

Yes, same exact thing for me... first night was perfect all night, then after that mini-patch I started having the problems... only my game doesn't crash... after about 10 minutes of play my fps suddenly drop so low I can barely move.

Does anyone have a way to roll back a patch?

I'm having the same problem. Especially in towns. If I'm roaming freely, nothing happens. But when I start to stay somewhere and craft or build a town... boom... But it's quite playable now.
I opened 3 tickets, no answer yet. Not even robotoc. Not even in the spam folder :(

They could easily make that option available on Steam, but they didn't.

Why do they want to stay silent and not do the simple thing?

Making ZERO SENSE not to allow this, simply if it would shut us up and let us actually play.

I have done soooo much troubleshooting for almost 3 days now to get the game to work again like the first 30 hours I put into it since the patch. It all boils down to something they did...and the patch notes gave ZERO indication of what other stealth fixes they put in. Ridiculous.

Dealing with the same thing here.

Everything worked fine day one, then come patch, boom; constant CTD's every 5-10 mins, sometimes longer, if I'm lucky.

I've tried all the tweaks and tips to no avail. Got the same unhelpful automated response from Bethesda when I put in a ticket and nothing since.

I'm not gonna play until this is resolved. Kills the immersion and just plain annoying to boot.

Well I can't say it's a breakthrough because I haven't changed any of my software, but I've had the game running for an hour now without crashing. Based on not crashing after being tabbed out for a while yesterday, I decided to just tab out every 5 minutes, and that kept me going for about 30 mins. Then to see if I would crash after having not tabbed out, I left myself standing for 30 minutes, and still no crash. I have crashed while idling before so it's not a matter of being in combat or having lots of things happening on screen. The only difference being that I am inside a small building (college admin building in caimbridge) and not in the open world. I moved myself into the open world and gave it 10 minutes. No crashing, so I decided to play and wait..... and sure enough it crashed as soon as I walked outside again, so maybe this crash is confined to the open world? I haven't crashed inside an instanced building yet.

So the good news is that I can apparently skip the crash + reboot step by tabbing out, but the bad news is I'm still crashing -_-

I'm guessing we won't hear anything over the weekend. Bethesda takes the weekend off and forgets about it while the people that bought their game go to work at Starbucks making their lattes for $7 an hour and save up for a game that works.

Bethesda have never really been the most transparent company out there (with a small number of notable exceptions). A patch is definitely coming, but don't expect Beth to announce exactly when it'll arrive.

Just here to chime in. I have the same problem, which i described in my thread here (missed your thread...) forums. gamesas. com/topic/1550912-frequent-every-3-10-min-crash-to-desktop/

I'm so pumped to play but can't because of this stupid constant crashing. Super sad :(

Its definitely not an AMD specific issue. I have a GTX 780ti and my game is unplayable for these reasons

So, I can confirm that tabbing out frequently seems to be keeping me from crashing as well.. but I'm able to move around in the open world.

EDIT: I got to play for about 45 minutes while frequently tabbing out.. but eventually it did crash again

Heres what worked for me, download and use nvidia inspector : match the boost to the est max using the underclockage and i never crashed. it seemed to be an issue when the FPS would "unlock" which is my next step to lock FPS to 60 (when it would normally crash, it would all of a sudden go to 120~ FPS and everyone looks like a cracked out squirrel including my avatar :|

i tried EVERYTHING till this - ini tweeks, rolling back drivers, everything. :( 2 days + to find this.

(I CANT POST LINKS, BUT HERES A IMAGE OF MY NVIDIA INSPECTOR)

imgur (dot) com (slash) TpoqrAL

[[EDIT]]

This was likely working for me due to my videocard? Nvidia Geforce GTX 660ti

ALSO: i played around 8-12 hours yesterday, no crashes. I cried tears of pure joy.

Guys, just wanted to say that after a couple days of dealing with this issue (massive fps drop after 10 mins play, but no crashing like most everyone in this thread) and having to constantly reboot my computer to play, and after trying a ton of setttings tweaks to try to fix it... I have simply rolled back my nvidia drivers to 355.82. After that I was able to play over two hours with only one incident forcing me to reboot. This was, by far, the longest I have been able to play without issue since day 1 (on which I played without any problems for hours).

Hope this info is helpful to someone. I'm not certain that my issue was the same as the crashing after 10 minutes but it sounds similar, so maybe give it a shot. Good luck.

The same problem here guys. After taking first pistol started random crashes without any log. I am able to play maximum 10 min without random crash. Temperatures of GC or Proc are ok, all win or drivers up to date of course, Antivirus deactivated, no Firefox running, no other apps running, just nothing that can corrupt game process. Repaire file data on Steam - not working as well of course.

System automaticly set to Ultra so there isn't problem in my HW or SW, this is BROKEN GAME guys, nothing more. Consoloid something with no care about PC optimalisation. BETHESDA can you at least SAY SOMETHING? Like = we know about issue and working on it, or no, we don't give [censored] about you customers. Thank you very much that instead of playing I am wasting my time on forums across the Internet without any solution. I pay my money for PLAYING the game, not for searching HOW TO RUN YOUR GAME.

We want answer and hyper fast fixing this issue!!

Your paying customers.
