Game crashes on save

I've invested a 100 hours into my save and now, it begins to crash on save. I'm not sure what causes corrupt saves, and I would really like to get to the bottom of this problem.

Game crashes anytime I put about 5 minutes into the game and save. I use Streamsave to save my games, but the game still corrupts, including if I make a hard save.
Save size is about 11,000kb

My most recent save game was bgIntegration, but I'm sure that that's not the culprit of this since I've had it for a while.

1. If you're using Bashed Patch, always remember to rebuild it after installing or uninstalling any mod(s) that use ESM/ESP files, or changing your mod load order. The purpose of Bashed Patch is to resolve common mod conflicts, but not keeping it maintained to MATCH your mod list can actually CAUSE mod conflicts.

2. Back up your most recent savegame, then go to the Saves tab in Wrye Bash, right-click it and select Remove Bloat. This strips out null references left over from uninstalled mods. Some mods are very difficult (even impossible) to uninstall without leaving null refs behind. You may also want to right-click and select Repair Abomb as well while you're at it.

No luck =(...

I checked for bloating, but Wrye Bash didn't detect any, and I always rebuild my patch whenever I add or remove a mod, it's just something I do...


I notice that I can't view the statistics of corrupt saves; all it does is give me this error message

How many saves in your saves folder? Do you overwrite saves? Can you start a new game, and save successfully?

I have about 44 saves including 15 streamsaves. I can save regularly if I start a new game. And I guess I do overwrite save files since that's how the streamsave feature is built, but I haven't been using the streamsave to save since the game crashing began.

Probably save corruption. Start working your way backwards thru your saves, till you find one that can save without crashing. No way to fix a corrupted save for oblivion unfortunately.

I reverted back to a save about one hour before. Saving worked well; until about an hour in the problem reappears again...

Ugh sometimes this game makes me want to burn my copy of Oblivion... I sadly have no clue why my save acts up like this.

I had 5 previous play throughs and they all average out to about 90 hours before becoming unplayable due to save corruption.

Am I doing something wrong?

It looks like somewhere along the line your game got corrupted. This happened to me on an old save a while back. There really isn't anything that can be done except keep going through your saves and playing through em to find one before the corruption.
However, I am curious about one thing. Are any of your in game animations slowed at all? Are doors sticking or flame nods not burning correctly?
Also, did you clean your save of bloating through bash, or just checked it? I know cleaning it may cause corruption as well.

There's no sign of A-bomb damage. I checked (and cleared) my save file, which was only at 40%.

I used the remove bloat feature to clear up my save, but the corruption happened before I bothered the de-bloat.

*UGH* I pray to God that this problem won't arise in Skyrim... Maybe they'll polish the save system or something...

At this point I've given up on the thing. Is there anyway I can transfer or replicate my save info to another game? I've placed a little over 100 hours into the game but I feel that I've just started... :meh:

In Streamline INI, turn off your streamsave slots...make just one. Make secure menu saves and turn off the sound bell feature. Reload a good save game and "Reinitialize with INI" in Streamline Menu Mode (CTRL+Home). :goodjob:

Hmmm I'm not sure if I follow through. I think you mean to use the secure autosave feature in the streamline... I did edit the ini and reinitialize the game, but that doesn't seem to work :confused:
