Game is crashing...

My game was working previously. But now it crashes every time I try to reload my games. But I can successfully start a new game.

I have also installed a few replacers recently:

What was the most recent mod you downloaded before the crashes began? That's probably going to be the thing that's causing the saves to crash...

You should really need to use http://code.google.com/p/mlox and http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106095-wrye-mash-stand-alone/ (python isn't required) to fix your mod list.

The WMSA has http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106095-wrye-mash-stand-alone/page__view__findpost__p__16669322 that Wrye Mash (python is required) doesn't have, so I would recommend that you use WMSA.

Well I DO use mlox and my load order is (apparently) fine. And it isn't reporting any conflicts. So WMSA will be able to help with new functions as well?

The most recently installed mods were those replacers. The Morag Tong Armor. Oriphier weapon replacers. Clear Ice.

I think you're now aware of that Wrye Mash can repair saved games files in the Saves tab, but the best part is that you don't need python.

Anything in your warnings.txt? Is the save all nice and purple in Mash?

Are you using v6 or later of MCA? There's a v6-specific patch for "Antares' Big Mod 5.esp", it also includes Minions of House Dagoth

Pretty sure the latest Less Generic Tribunal is called "Less_Generic_Tribunal.esp" rather than "Less Generic Tribunal.esp", pretty sure that wouldn't be a CTD-causing thing though.

Apparently you're supposed to replace "THE_UNDERGROUND_2.esp" with "UG2PhaseC_v07.esp", do you have the latest mlox rules (2010-10-25)? As that last one's in there.

Doubt it's Clear Ice Equipment as I've been running that for ages.

[From what I've read the new things in standalone Wrye Mash are really pretty unimportant].

I tried repairing the save file and it doesn't change anything, MW still CTDs. I've tried making a new save game and then loading it. CTD.

I think these mods is somehow related to the error messages you see in the warnings.txt and I suggest that you start with these mods first.

You can use http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=100 to search for almost everything.

If you found something important then try to fix it and repeat that for each mod you have in your LO.
I know this is a long shot, but you have nothing to loose (game progress could be lost).

move mashed lists.esp to the last and reinstall Constant Effect Additions, Better Clothes 1.1 (apparently not working)
update TR, MCA and probably remove Book Jackets - Morrowind - BookRotate (missing master)

No. To quote the Mash documentation "For save games, you want every master to be blue - i.e. you want the save itself to be blue." Or purple: "If a save is blue (not purple), then the load list contains an extra esp that the save is not yet dependent on."

I've seen this before with Assassin's Armory. Are you using the Area Effect Arrows addon from there? IIRC, you need to also use the Assassins Armory ESM and/or the arrows plugin

Despite what Leonardo2 says these are not indicative of Better Clothes not working, they are errors that everyone who uses Better Clothes gets.

IIRC, that's The Underground. See what running just the patched version instead of with Qarl's original does for this error.

No idea where these come from, use native OS search, Wingrep, or InfoRapid Search & Replace to search your plugins for the strings "murderedAlvisTeri" and "HV_RMMT_MakeTarget2", that'll at least identify the mods.
I think stuff prefixed "sm" is Midgetalien's work. SF maybe Starfire - are you using an addon to her NPC Additions without her main mod?


move mashed lists.esp to the last and reinstall Constant Effect Additions,

update TR, MCA and probably remove Book Jackets - Morrowind - BookRotate (missing master)

Why reinstall "Constant Effect Additions"? There are no missing resource errors, and this doesn't sound like a resource-using plugin.

This is caused because you are using the wrong plugin for Random Missions - In Service to Mephala. You are using the Starfire's version instead of the MCA version. Might or might not be what is causing the crash, but every error fixed is a good thing, right?

But green colour isn't bad or is it?

Despite what Leonardo2 says these are not indicative of Better Clothes not working, they are errors that everyone who uses Better Clothes gets.

That's strange because I've used Better Clothes 1.1 mod my self and I'v never seen these error message before. :huh:

We can skip my advice about Constant Effect Additions mod, because you have already ask Melchior Dahrk a question and my suggestions was posted before your reply.

The TR_Mainland.esm seems old to me and since you have already mention Anteres' Big Mod I assumed that Melchior has an older MCA version installed.

If I'm not mistaking isn't Bookrotate.esm+Bookrotate Bookjackets - Morrowind 1.1 are master files to Book Jackets - Morrowind - BookRotate?

to me it sounds like a bad object prob (had the same once). please try this: since you may start a new game, do this and go to the cell where your save takes place. does it crash as well? you can do this also with the cs but it's quite heavy to load all your game files in :D

Thanks kiteflyer61 for the info. The TR_Mainland.esm looks *old* to me, because I didn't recognize it with the latest TR release. :facepalm:

The next release of TR is going to a single .esm. It will make updating a lot easier and reduce the confusion (people using the map 1 .esm with the map 2 release, which includes an updated map 1) and make it easier to know which version you are using. :D

You still need to use two files. You just need to use the map 1 file that comes with the map 2 release. See what I mean about confusion? :whistling:

I've seen this before with Assassin's Armory. Are you using the Area Effect Arrows addon from there? IIRC, you need to also use the Assassins Armory ESM and/or the arrows plugin


He's not using Assassin's Armory so that's not the problem. He is using my Particle Arrow Replacer mod along the with compatibility .esp for Area Effect Arrows. The original Area Effect Arrows mod (or some other mods that modifies AEA like Redesigned Vivec) still needs to be used in order for the compatibility ,esp to work properly.

All AEA-Compatibility.esp does is change the arrow references in AEA to use the particle arrow meshes, it does not contain the original full plugin of Area Effect Arrows. Using AEA-Compatibility.esp without the original AEA mod and you'll have some arrows wondering where their enchantments are.

I believe it can lead to doubling in the save game, but if Wrye (who knows a lot more than I about this stuff) says that saves should be blue or purple then I'd suggest ensuring your saves are blue or purple :)

How weird. I, and lots of other people, seem to get them all the time. Anyway, the consensus is that they're harmless errors that only appear in warnings.txt and don't affect actual gameplay.

Although possibly unrelated, it's worth bringing up. A while back when i started on my armor sets mod (based on link below) it came to my attention that apparently you can have spells with that are completely empty, or something like that. (Perhaps it was an import issue?). The game & editor don't notify you of the problem.

Anyways, anytime those spells/effects were activated, the game would crash.

Very sorry for the late reply everyone and thanks for the anolysis and discussion. What I ended up doing, a little time consuming, was making a new save game (I was planning on starting over anyhow) and incrementally activating all my mods that I wanted. I left a few out and I got it working with the set-up I have now. No errors on loading, at least none which CTD the game.

So I don't even know exactly what the problem was :shrug: I'm just assuming one of the modd I had active didn't like another. Oh, and my old saves work now too.

Though this only may be temporary, and I may run into the old problem again. In which case, I'll be reposting in here.
