Game is darker now [FIX FOUND]

Post » Wed Jun 29, 2011 12:59 am

Even the multiplayer.Everything is darker. Why??? anyone knows what causes this??

Is there a command line to disable whatever feature causes this? PLEASE IT LOOKS AWFUL!!!

LE: Fix found by Maxwell_Adams user * I found the solution *

The new dark effect comes the new enhanced color grading. To disable the color grading, you have to use the command r_colorgrading = 0. Either punch it into the console manually or put in in an autoexec.cfg file.

Tried it and i can confirm it works. Many thanks

o.O ... my multiplayer also became "darker" ... i think its because of DX11 enabled with the real light effects, when you look into the sun!

Exactly my friend!! i dont even use DX11 and textures patch. And even the framerate is lower now!! ive tried various command lines in the console such as the r_ssao 0 or the hdr lines but it's still darker.

It looked alot better and nicer before.

Anyone knows how to revert it back as it was before 1.9?

I can confirm this **** bug, it`s very annoying.
Actually i didn`t even want to play with this damn dx11, and here it goes, almost forced to do so and lose valuable fps...

yes, before the patch it was perfect for me.

Same here, but my game is also ''brighter''. I played Skyline today, and now my eyes hurt from all the brightness that there is. I saw my crosshair before the patch, but now when I try to throw my grenade somewhere in Skyline, I can't even see it anymore due to brightness.

At 1.2 u could use these to mess around with lightning n such:

e_DynamicLightsMaxEntityLights =
e_GI =
e_GIAmount =
e_GIBlendRatio =
e_GIIterations =
e_GIMaxDistance =
r_Beams =
r_BeamsMaxSlices =
r_BeamsDistFactor =
r_HDRRendering =
r_HDRBloomMul =
r_HDRGrainAmount =
r_HDRLevel =
r_HDROffset =
r_HDRBrightLevel =
r_HDRBrightOffset =
r_HDRBrightThreshold =
r_HDRRangeAdaptationSpeed =
r_HDRRangeAdaptLBufferMax =
r_HDRRangeAdaptLBufferMaxRange =
r_HDRRangeAdaptMax =
r_HDRRangeAdaptMaxRange =
r_SSAO =
r_SSAORadius =
r_SSGIRadius =

At 1.9 u got... :

e_GI =
e_GIAmount =
r_HDRBloomMul =
r_HDRBrightLevel =
r_SSAO =

Maybe it can help alittle:P

Hi folks, this doesn't really need a fix..
They improved lighting and tones overall, now dark areas look darker, and light areas look lighter, since light affects the tone of the textures correctly. In my opinion it looks more realistic now, but it'll take some time to get used to for sure.. :)

@matelian:
SSDO = Screen Space Directional Occlusion, a new method for approximating real time global illumination. It can be seen as an improved version of the SSAO (screen space ambient occlusion) method with one bounce of indirect illumination.
:) google ftw!

What he siad, you guys are uber dorks, have you ever gone to NY? Its f*ckin pitch black because of the high buildings casting shadows, if anything the game is Uber realistic now.

@MaxPower82: thnx for the info but i dont need the game to looks like that, yeah it looks more realistic but IMO it is ugly and i need it to look just like before the patch so if any one can help make it look as before.

btw I only installed patch 1.9 for those who needs to know.

and my problem is the game is darker now more than it used to be even in bright areas with sun light like sanctuary MP map and of cource more dark in night time MP maps like evac zone, all i need is to turn how it look back before patch 1.9. and also having low fram rate in maps like pier17. and the fps is soo low that it is unplayable now

I just played a round on Evac Zone with DX11 and it just too dark to be played this way. Even on a calibrated IPS monitor it is just ugly as hell.

I dont care about realism in an sci-fi game you idiot!!! the game was just great and sweet smooth before patch 1.9 . Almost Killzone 3 like. The lightning was nice, the objects looked nice.

Now it's a dark crap as if all the postprocessing is off!!! wtf is this horror mode? at least they should have implemented visual option as in FarCry and Crysis : Vivid,Cold,Cartoonish, Dark, Bright!

It's now like a vampire-nanosuited-dark story...
I don't care about DX 11 graphic anymore. I just wanna to save my eyes from the darkness...
Tried "brightness", it's not flushing darkness away for pleasurable effect. Like the darkness is now controlling this game.
It's not about the game graphics now. It's now about me trying to save own eyes from that darkness. To not wear glasses because I were looking something in darkness.

If someone find the way to get away too much of the darkness, please, post it.
