Every time I try to fast travel to Solitude, the loading screen freezes. I tried to walk there on foot and when I get to the Hjaalmarch region, the game freezes. I cannot access the home screen from the controller; I have to actually tap the power button 5 times before the system turns off. I've tried to visit earlier load games. I can visit...but it's so far back, I may as well delete the darn thing if that's going to be the solution.

This started to happen around 75 hours into the game. I've managed to continue playing another 18 hours with no problems until I try to travel to Solitude I did download the Hearthfire DLC a while back before all of this started happening. But, I'd managed to visit Solitude many times after building up Lakeview Manor.

A friend suggested I download another DLC (I chose Dragonborn). While it's been great exploring Solsthein, this did nothing to help. I've re-installed the game to my hard drive, I've been on tech support with xbox, cleared the cache, deleted and re-downloaded my user profile, the xbox is located in a well-ventilated area and it standing upright - I don't know what else to do.

If I have to pull the plug on this character, I'm willing to, but I really, really, want to try and save this one, if I can. It seems like I have a corrupted save file...Is there anyway to fix this??

Is the game slowing down in other places in Skyrim?

How do you save? Generally speaking it is best not to use Auto Saves or quick saves?

Did anything strange happen when in Solitude the last time it worked for the character. A glitched quest or something.

Do you pickup weapons and shields from fallen NPC's and then place them on the corpses. Do you use spells that leaves ash piles?
