Game freezes when entering Solitude

Hi everyone, this is my first post in this forum, and I'm hoping I'm not alone with this issue.

I started a character after 1.9 came out, and right now it seems like I can't get into Solitude without the game freezing my entire system. I've used the restoration potion glitch to get my stats up because I hate grinding to make a character better. My character is currently a level 109 Nord.

I've got Dawn guard and Hearthfire installed, and have built the Lakeview Manor house, and have adopted Sophie and Lucia.

So far to resolve the issue I've tried clearing the system cache and the game cache, neither worked. I then loaded up an old game with I created before any of the patches had been put out, and found that that character had no trouble going into solitude.

I uninstalled the game from my hard drive, and still the issue wasn't fixed. Then I uninstalled Dawn Guard and Hearthfire, and found that the issue STILL wasn't fixed. Finally I've tried uninstalling the updates for this game, and once again the issue was not resolved.

Is there anyone else having this issue, or something similar to it?

I can go anywhere else in Skyrim without the game freezing, just not Solitude.

Is there anything else I can do?

Will I simply have to wait until another patch comes out? If that's the case, I'm really not going to be happy, because I've already had an experience like that before with my other character when I was trying to finish the Litany of Larceny quest, and neither of the eyes of the Falmer would trigger the objective for me to take it to Delvin. :swear:

You're not alone with the freezing issue; the following may solve the problem (at least temporarily): Try holding down LB+RB+X when you start Skyrim (before the gamesas logo comes up). This supposedly clears out the game cache that stores temporary data files for the game. This works for me when the game starts freezing multiple times in one area, although it eventually starts up again in a different area, so again it's really only a temporary fix.

The Litany of Larceny quest issue has been fixed as of the 1.9 update, but it will likely only work on a new game started after downloading the 1.9 update.

"So far to resolve the issue I've tried clearing the system cache and the game cache,"

With The Litany of Larceny, I'm aware that the issue was fixed by an update (not sure if it was 1.9 or not), all I'm saying about it is that I really wasn't happy that I had to wait for an update for a fix for it, and that I'm not going to be very happy if I have to wait for another update to fix this new issue.

Sorry, I should have read your post over better. I'm with you on the not happy thing though.

The usual drastic solution to solve performance and stability issues is to delete everything, patch, all DLC and game, clear the system cache for every storage device used, then re-install the game, update it with the patch, and download all the DLC again. Be sure to patch the game before downloading any DLC.

This is not a temporary solution, it wears off after a while.

The other possibility is using the restoration potion glitch had caused the problem, although that seems unlikely.
