Game is great, but...

I'm loving skyrim so far, with about 11 hours of gameplay in so far, the few complaints that I have relate to the guilds.

I'll start with a minor one, about the mages guild. It appears that the ranking system is either non-existant or very hard to notice. It seems like I went from an Apprentice to an Archmage without being aware that I transitioned to any middle-ground, like Adept, Expert, etc... But that's no biggie.

On to a real disappointment... A few months before the game came out I made a poll about a "Cleric Guild" or "Temple Faction" to which most people agreed should be implemented, and so far there doesn't seem to be one. But what irks me is they dangle these "Vigilants of Stendarr" in front of you, give them there own hall, yet you can't join them and it seems you can't even do quests for them!

This relates to a more fundamental complaint of mine. Not being able to join a faction that has a "good" theme. We have a faction that is obviously evil (Dark Brotherhood) and a handful of neutral factions. Of course we could get philosophical and say "Good is a point of view" and argue that the Stormcloaks or some other faction is good. But being honest and avoiding all of the philosophy, I think we can all agree that there is no faction that has a good theme in contrast to the Dark Brotherhood.

As you may be able to tell I'm a pretty big fan of playing the good side. I think it's my brain reacting to how burnt out I am on being evil, because that's all I used to be in games. It's just a little weird to me, Bethesda seems comfortable with making a guild with a theme that is obviously dark and evil, but when it comes to being good there is no faction for it so you just kind of not kill innocent people and pat yourself on the back for doing so. Well, they actually did something like a "good" faction, but it's unjoinable. *Facepalm*

In this respect I'm disappointed and I'm not sure why Bethesda is so scared to make lightside of roleplaying a little more in depth. Other than that, the game is epic, I love what they did with the combat system and I don't miss any of the skills that they removed or merged. (Except maybe hand to hand... :( ) If there is something I'm missing, someone let me know. I'm back off to frozen north.
