Game has become pointless since wasteland nerf

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 9:22 pm

Hey there, not sure how many people have noticed or were aware that they nerfed the game back in August so that you can no longer acquire legendary armor or weapons exploring the wasteland. This means the only way to acquire such items is to farm lunchboxes (a tedious process) or to pay for them. I'm not sure why it was nerfed other than it may have been related to the time exploit people were using. It's a bit frustrating to spend all this time training up dwellers and getting ready for a bit of wasteland farming (the odds of a legendary were low) only to find you can't even get legendaries anymore.

I'm already maxed out at 999, 999 caps and have more blue gear than I can equip to my dwellers. Please add legendaries back into the wasteland loot tables. If it was because of the exploit it would make more sense to fix the exploit no?

Maybe the odds are not in your favour. I still receive legendaries (30 explorers and about 1-3 items per week).

You can still use the time glitch to get them. Not by messing with your device settings, but the crash/force quit one.

I have 40 dwellers that I always keep out, and I have gotten 3 power armor suits and 1 rocket launcher since the update. The drop rates are really really low now. But you can still get them.

I must be playing either a different version than you guys or I have the worst luck ever. The sub reddit for Fallout Shelter seems to be experiencing the same thing as well:

I haven't gotten a legendary in weeks... and I'm cycling 40-50 dwellers in the wasteland with 60+ SPECIAL (some of them are even maxed). I've maxed out dweller stats at level 1 and sent them out with 5 endurance (they can literally be out there 3-4 days before they start touching stimpaks) but I'm not turning up a single legendary. :-(

There's no real end-game content so it pretty much is just a collection quest to me... but if legendaries don't ever drop it kind of svcks. Especially since it literally takes weeks to get max stat dwellers.

My interest in this game is fading, it feels pointless even if I haven't built all rooms yet or reached 200 dwellers. Why am I trying to get better weapons or dwellers? Deathclaws already stop at second room and random infestations can kill some of my dwellers, but I can always revive everyone. Cap income is so great that I don't know where to spend them. Boooringgg. Objectives are also becoming a bit tedious as half of them are stupid "equip X dwellers with weapon/outfit" or "make X babies" what I don't want to do.

The game just starts feeling pointless after you reach post 70 dwellers. The hard part is over, all that's left is increase population and then brainless grind where it's all about RNG(exploration) and SPECIAL training to max dwellers. I haven't gotten a single legendary in weeks despite keeping fully trained dwellers constantly out(with rare/legendary equips). I just get ton of blue stuff which I keep selling with rest of the trash that gets hauled in. Really the game feels like at any time I will get a pop-up saying "how are you enjoying the demo? Buy the full version now for 9,99 and get access to raiding parties, access to map to choose where to send your dwellers, random chance for interaction with other vaults where you can trade, ability to mass sell items instead of single clicks, new events in wastelands like recruiting legendary dwellers after passing several checks and chance to find legendary equipment, new quests, new buildings/functions and much more! Buy now to get additional 20% off! If you have pre-ordered fallout 4 you are qualified for another 30% off!" The base game is great, but it just feels like this isn't really a full version as it just ends with nothing to do really and lot of things that could be done in the game that you just don't have access to. I really hope they will add some content for the game sometime soon.

Just noticed: Most of my legendaries are obtained from cannon fodder (dwellers called from radio stations with no items equipped) within the first hour:

And no, I am not force quitting the application or playing with my device's time settings.

You pretty much have to.

Somewhere around the 3.5 day mark, an explorer collects his/her 100th find. They can't carry more, so they stop discovering. And it's not a LIFO or FIFO thing either. It takes more than 3.5 days to pass the legendrary find threshold, which is at least 4 days. Now if we could tell our explorers to drop stuff, you know like we do in the real game when we're encumbered, that would be very helpful.

Constantly gathering 98 useless items and perhaps 2 regular rares that you can make use of gets old pretty fast.

I mean, what is the point of exploring right?

Just to collect junk?

Don't get me wrong, junk is useful in the beginning, but it's a complete waste of time at end game.

To me, End Game is all about the All10's Heavy Equipped Explorers finding phat lewtz.

Yes, the endgame needs to be balanced better. It should be about finding rare items and equiping dwellers with cool stuff.

That could actually make a very good reason to keep the radio room manned: contact with explorers so you can manage their inventory.

True. As the pipboy is a radio and Father Elijah used it as such, that's perfectly viable.
