My game has stealth dragons.

Not sure when it happened, but the sound of dragons in my game have been muted, most likely due to a glitch.

Now, I'm running around Skyrim with the extra layer of threat a dragon can literally land on top of me and I won't know it. At first, I thought "WTF", but now, I'm actually loving this aspect of the game, giving me a sense of true danger.

The first time it happened, I was fighting a few Forsworn and turned around to be on my merry way and it was right there. I literally jumped as I saw it, because I didn't even know it was there.

The second time was near Whiterun. Thing just landed inches in front of me. Poor thing. Didn't stand a chance.

The third time was the best. In my favorite Dragon Rest capital of Skyrim, aka Morthal. I was walking between two buildings and walked right into the back of one. I laughed, and thought "What's he doing here?" As I was engaged with this one, another showed up, just as silently as the first.

Here's hoping that, if TES VI has dragons, they stay stealthy. :D

lol

Same thing happened to me yesterday but only with 1 dragon. I was passing the western watchtower. It wasn't the named dragon. it wad just a random encounter with a dragon called "dragon". He made no sound when landing, walking, bite, wing and tail attacking and did a fire breath shout but no sound came out of that either. He then did another fire breath shout and the sounds of the dragon moving and attacking started working.

The higher level the dragon, the higher his skill at stealth. It's probably not a bug.

You sure? Because I've been at level 50+ in several games and this is the first they've done so. Usually, I'll either hear wings flapping or a roar, but I get neither.

Even when fighting, the only sound I get is the breath, which sounds really weird.

Yeah. Ancient dragons are level 100 at sneak. Do you want the levels of the others?

Anyway, maybe you have additional problems... Do they make noise when they walk?

I'm pretty sure it's a glitch. The only sound I hear from them is when they breath fire/frost.

I don't get: wings flapping, landing, chomping, death shot (final sound when the kill is made), and the soul absorption sounds.

In fact, the game doesn't even change its score to the enemy battle until I actually land my first shot.

Stealth Dragons. Win! :D

Blecch. I just started the Main Quest (after two entire years) the very thought of soundless dragons makes me :cold:

But if you're enjoying the challenge, more power to ya.

I love when they do that; they could land on your shoulders before you even notice them! :D

Sometimes all I ever see is a shadow of the wings in passing. No roar, no flapping, just that shadow.

I fought an invisible dragon once. If it hadn't been for the quest marker that it had been tagged with, I never would have been able to kill it. Since I've only seen one like that in the whole game, I'm assuming/hoping it was a glitch. The Nine help us if the dragons have learned an invisibility shout.

Thats ok, I had a dragon turn invisible on me except the blood on its body and the whole fire breathing (it was one that was breathing fire, literally)

I've experienced a glitch from time-to-time where dragons in my game have turned invisible. It's only amusing the first time it happens.

I'm not sure about stealth dragons, but I've had the crap scared out of me a few times from cavebears sneaking up on me and roaring in my face.

You think bears are bad? Try going into a falmer infested location with

Spoiler
shadowcloak of nocturnal turned on.
More than once have I walked past a Falmer only to turn around and have its ugly mug staring me in the face.
