Good point. Still, magic's more versatile, and I expect there will be a limit to the shouts - something like use only one or two in a day. How did magic feel anyway in Oblivion ? Never got around truly using it. Powerful enough so you could go pure mage in fights ?
Wouldn't mind the overpowered-ness, provided the challenge your enemies put you to increase drastically at the same time, forcing you to use those powerful advantages - be they magic, stealth or shouts - in a careful and clever way.
True enough, as long as they keep a large variety of effects individual for shouts/spells, then it would be fine to be more powerful. And l like your idea about limiting shouts per rest or per day, as I'm sure it'd be hard enough on your voice just yelling a couple of shouts in Draconic speech lol.
In Oblivion, it was somewhat hard to play a full Mage in vanilla, I normally ended up going Battle Mage style with a mace until I started getting mods like Midas Magic, Supreme Magicka, Fearsome Magicka, and LAME. Without some good spell mods, you can still get powerful through using layered on weakness to magicka spells, but that always felt like exploiting the system to me.
So hopefully for Skyrim we won't need to depend too much on mods for really interesting magic.
