Game informer, translating the cover.

Post » Fri Apr 15, 2011 12:12 pm

I know it's old news, but I thought it was a very interesting idea. I've never seen anything like that before. I also enjoyed doing it. It took me about an hour, and I felt very accomplished after finishing it. What did you guys think of it?

If there were things like that in game I'm sure I would go for them, but I didn't go for this. I'm glad to let the forumers here find the clues and translations in things for me.

I tried deciphering it before they released the clues. I gave up after a while, read the forums and saw that nobody here had a clue either.

Went to sleep, and woke up the next day. I found the clues that had been released on the Game Informer website while I was asleep, and translated the cover during school.

I thought it was great fun - it's rare that a game entertains you before actually being released :P

I am a bit confused how you so easily translated it?
Unless I am mistaken it is written is the Dragon language? Correct? Which has 30 characters compared to English's 26. Did you just ignore the extra characters? Or what?

EDIT
Nevermind, Gameinformer has the piece with Dovakiin filled in which helps alot.

It was cool, I didn't do it though, I let the other forum fanatics do it for me :P

I sat down and did it, it was pretty fun, I just wish I put that effort into actual work.

I did it, and I enjoyed it. It didn't take me very long either, and I felt very pleased with myself when I was done.

Loved it. I would have loved it more had we figured it out ourselves, but the fact that we were unable to do so is just more props to Bethesda. I'd love more clever marketing stuff like this, maybe words in articles spelling out a prophesy or hidden 'collectibles' in screenshots that when put together reveal something new.

I did it in between work related matters - a good idea for something that I'd like to see in game, some kind of historical guild that had digs and searches for long lost artifacts and places and occasionally has you translate languages and writings would be actually quite cool!
