Who wants to be that we will get one screenshot in this piece and it will be the skill picture from the gi article? I guarantee it.

I can't believe that actually happened... :|

Here's to hoping that the next update, if there is one, will have new info.

I like the most recent update, the one about the menu system... Why?
From the latest update; "Thousands of items are fully rendered"

pretty much what the magazine was.
so buying or finding spells is fine. not sure if we start out with a couple though.

I was really hoping for an extra picture or two of the menu.

Heheh, I said it would be fun if they released just an article about UI like they did b4, and they did
But it's not fun :shakehead:

Disappointing. Barely any new information.

And it made no confirmation of whether attributes are in or not. And if not, which is probably the case, it didn't explain how things like encumbrance will be handled. Bah.

Look at the items from all angles ; topographical map, zoom in and out (sweet !), plan your route : like that.

Fast travel, quests icons... *sigh* Oh well.

"Three prominent nebulae dominate the Skyrim heavens – the thief, the warrior, and the mage." There goes star signs...

Also, had some trouble with the "shortcut" menus. It now pauses the game ? If you can place as many items as you want, you cannot assign shortcut values : so there's no more just hitting a key in battle instead of having to go through the menu ? I hope I understood that wrong.

I'll have to see how it plays to really formulate a judgement. From the article, I'm not that convinced it's more seamless.

Wow, that was like a word for word copy of the magazine article. No new pictures either. I am starting to think that the hub updates are meant only for people who have not read the mag. [censored]

Anything from your spell library or item inventory can be “bookmarked” to the favorites menu with the press of a button. How many items appear on that menu is up to each player. Bethesda isn’t placing a cap on the number of favorite items, so theoretically you could muck it up with every single item you own. Though you can choose how many items appear, you can’t determine the order; items and spells are listed alphabetically.

I don't really like this. Say I have have more than a few favorites, but my favorite favorite's name starts with something like U *cough*Umbra*cough*, so then I'd have to scroll down to it every time I've changed to a healing spell and want to re-equip it?

Welp, I didn't see any mention of attributes being in the UI, so I guess that means they're out.

Or even separate birthsigns for that matter.

I am quite the sad panda. :sadvaultboy:

Besides that, without any more pictures to go by, I'm just going to assume the UI has gone consolized again.

Mmm... I expect the UI described in the article to be the PS3 and XBox 360 one... I don't think that that compass would be very good for PC

"any player can use a two-handed weapon, try alchemy, or cast a destruction spell (provided you find or purchase one)"

so does this mean you can start off without any magic and play a character void of any magical ability?

I don't really know what to think about the "zoomed-out map". Does it mean I also immediately see any large ruins and smaller settlements? Cause that would definitely kill the sense of wonder and exploration for me. :/

But what about assigning shortcut values to specific items ? Is that out ? I'm going to go bat[censored] if I have to go back to opening some menu each time I want a health potion.

Yeah - it sounds like they've blended them with skills - which is a real shame...

Can we start saying dumbed down again yet?
