Game Informer Update Today IV

The alphabet was epic, and so was the language, even if it reminded me a little bit of a slightly simplified http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/ff/Cyrus_cylinder_extract.png (one of the earliest forms of written expression).

I started reading the new article but I stopped at first page because I was annoyed by the way the magazine present the dragons voices.
It seems the writer of the article can't explain a game mechanic if he doesn't spoil much of the plot.

I mean do we really have to know from now how and where we will obtain them, where the ones that will train us on them will be,what's their name etc... ?

I'm really looking forward to translating the legends on the walls that they mentioned. I'm probably going to become fluent in the dragon language through playing the game.

Im certianly going to try this.
Anyone else?

Edit: Oh yeah, I liked this update probably the most, if not then it was translating the cover.

I wouldn't be surprised if each dragon unlocked the ability to learn a specific dragon shout, and that dragon would use that shout against you.

I believe it was mentioned, possibly in the magazine, that the dragons don't breath fire, but create it by speaking certain words, ie a dragon shout. So, to get the ability to learn Fus! Ro! Dah!, you'd have to fight the dragon that would use that against you.

I think we'll learn that one from the Greybeards as I said in my Dragon thread. ;) Just a guess though as they will train the player and the Thu'um used by Nords in the past best fits that dragon shout.

Does anyone remember Nox ? the Dragon shout system reminds me of how the mages in Nox cast spells and that was one thing I always thought was so cool to see while playing.

I am happy there using a charging design for the shouts, its so simple yet makes for great tactical decisions. Damn a group of bandit is coming at me, if I can just charge(hold the button) for one more second I can take them all...damn I got hit! Great stuff.

Agreed, I skimmed the article myself.

This was the first update in which I did not even get through the whole thing. I stopped reading after the first page. Boring.

IMO, this was one of the best updates along with the engine update...its nice to see that skyrims its gonna be a lore-heavy game.

i agree with the spoil part, i only need some videos and i will not see nothing of the game neither i will come here too often when too much info splashes out, it breaks the surprise factor, i payed a fatal price in the past with games i highly spected.

So, with these dragon shouts, who do you think would win in battle, Skyrim's hero and his/her dragon shouts or Pelinal Whitestrake and his laser hand? :P

Just my opinion, that's all. I know a lot of people liked it. I really don't want to hear much info on the actual story. I like to be surprised. I want more screens, videos, etc.

... but many other creatures in the world do as well. Included among them are the undead draugr, ancient Nord warriors who will call out in dragon language from their skeletal frames, threatening to pull you down to join them.

I started to imagine exploring some ruins for the first time, hearing a very threatening, evil tone added to the way Thu'um already sounds like and got giddy.

I hoping to get a bit more of the mechanics of the game such as perks/attributes/combat. We are all interested in this and it does not reveal any of the story line.

So what do guys think about the undead draugr? It looks like draugr are able to perform dragon shouts too. I read an article at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon: Draugr#Draugr on draugr and they sound like nasty creatures; and from what it looks like they are going to be super creepy lookin and hard to kill. ^_^

I understand that sentiment. I'd also prefer not to have too much of the story given away; it's nice to find these things out as you play through the game. But, at the same time, it's nice to get some indication that BGS are putting a lot of effort into the lore.

It can be tough to balance out these two demands - not least because different people will have different views about when too much of the story has been revealed.

The language concept that emerged abandoned tense, conjugation, and even upper and lower case letters, preferring that the context imply those ideas. For instance, in the translation of Game Informer’s back cover, the word “fundein” translates to “unfurled,” but it could mean either unfurl or unfurled, depending on where the word is used. Similarly, the word “prodah” could mean either foretell or foretold.

I am very disappointed to hear this. Once again, the devs have shown that they are lazy and don't care about the fans- as far as I am concerned, Skyrim will be broken until a proper system of verbal conjugation is included- one with dual plural forms and multiple moods, tenses and voices- along with several declensions for nouns and adjectives, including at least six cases with distinct forms for each number and gender.

Actually, I have a horrible feeling I'm going to try and learn that language so I can understand the draugr.
