In game jobs and possible relationships. Please?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:19 am

I would like to get a job in Skyrim so I can make money to buy the armor, books, weapons etc. I don't want to be a thief and always steal from those poor shop clerks or the dead(most of the time :P). It would be cool if they gave of a job or a way of making money by honest means. For example if were champion of a gladiator arena let us fight every 1-3 days for gold, so I don't have to haul tons of armor back and fourth to a vendor. Also it would be nice to have possible relationships towards the opposite six(or same if your into that) since every other RPG does that especially Bioware, and Obsidian in my opinion did great job with that in New Vegas for their... umm lets say romance you could have.

If there aren't relationships, there will be mods that will add them.

I'll love to play a "Romancing of Eyja"-like mod for Skyrim. It was way cool in OB :)

I think there's more important things to worry about.

Namely, Alduin eating the world.

Namely, Alduin eating the world.

All the more reason to enjoy a quaint little romance before the end. :P

Here's my problem with romance plots.

I like fiesty chicks.

In a sandbox game, if people get all up in my grill, my sword gets all up in theirs.

You see my problem, yeah?

"Don't care" option please?

I don't want them per se, but I'm a bit tired (Okay...sick to damn death, alright?) of getting bashed because voting "no" when "yes" is "the more incorrect response with regard to my opinion" gets the "OMG why do you want to deny others their fun?1!!?" activists all worked up.

*command spell*
*drags npc into house*

Yays boy friend!

Nooo don't touch my table food!!
*stab stab stab*

-_-'

If it was added (romance) it would have to be optinal..
Other games where you got stuck doing it, pissed me off.

Its nice to have extra Npc's in my house.. but once they start knocking stuff off a shelf i just spent 10mins putting there. There gonna get stabbed... then fireballed. lol

No relationships please, jobs would be nice tho. It would add to a feeling of being a hero. Going about your everyday life and than woosh, you saved the world from a big bad dragon. :)

If you want to work a job and have a phony relationship, go play Real Life. As a wise man once posted, "I'm here to save the world, not to have badly animated six with a bunch of polygons".

...and those polygons sure will be much appreciated to you when you save their polygonal asses from destruction.

It would at least give us more incentive to actually try and save the world this time. Whoever believed that your Oblivion character would actually do the things he or she did? The goodness of their heart? Puuhlease. If some rambling king gives you a priceless amulet - and you are a criminal to begin with, someone with questionable morals - then the minute you come out of jail you try to pawn off that amulet and get drunk in the nearest bar. My Oblivion character had absolutely no reason to get himself in danger. But if there's a woman involved, men do the craziest things. Like fighting dragons.

Can I be (in RL) an armorer craftsman (or whatever they're called) and live decently making swords and armor? Can I be an alchemist and do my living from harvesting ingredients, mixing potions, and selling them for a nice revenue?

Tell me then where to apply, please, as I'm absolutely taking it.

The wise man forgot the fact that in complex Rpgs like Tes you do a lot more things that you can do in real life as well. Tes is not just the main quest. Some people don't even finish the main quest.

Jobs are confirmed but relationships are not confirmed in the way or a romance but you can be friends and good friends or enemies with people if that is what you mean by relationships. Oh and depending on the status of NPCs they will give quests differently and even give you housing for the night and offer food. Just read it on GI for a more clear explanation

What about glory and fortune?

The prospect of glory and fortune was not nearly as obviously present than the prospect of danger, pain and mutilation...

Why do I have to chooes neither or both? I don't see how they are related, so I simply didn't vote.

I'd like to optionally take on small continuous jobs for added immersion. I don't really care about relationships so much though.

Yes jobs are confirmed already. You can work 8 hours a day chopping wood if you like that kind of thing. Relationships are not confirmed yet, although i dont think any of the mags asked the question. I know they are experimenting with various companion opportunitites.

How about a poll choice that is just jobs? I'd kill my wife in this game anyway. The npc's can be annoying! :swear:

I really don't care about all the relationship stuff since I'll never play that stuff (tried it in Fable, didn't like it), but hey, that's just me.
Jobs, on the other hand, would be quite nice.
It could improvements in gamplay in my opinion.
For example, like you said, people could have honest way of earning for their bread and it is more sure way.
Also, some people don't want to go to an adventure just to get few carrots so they can make a soup or something.

Jobs are in. Very happy about it.
Relationships, nah would never really care about it. Feels kinda sick to have it in a video game IMO. I wouldn't be against it, but I'm definitely not for it.

Also, this poll is heavily flawed; what if you want jobs but not relationships?
They aren't related to each other and shouldn't be so either in the poll.
